  1. Surely two months of safety testing should have been planned from the start though? Why would they announce an opening date before they knew whether the ride would be safe?
  2. Why can't they just open the ride now they're letting a select handful of people on? How much testing and tweaking do they need to do? I appreciate they don't want to rush things but at the same time, they must be getting to a point now where they're just nitpicking.
  3. Surely filling the park with attractions that are closed for most of the season is not a great idea. Taking up valuable space for future all-season outlets and attractions as well as making the park look like it's not running at 100% if guests can see empty buildings and closed shutters.
  4. Nemesis is still the best. The Smiler feels like you're in a washing machine.
  5. It will most likely be pirate themed. It's the only corner of the park without a rollercoaster yet. My main concern is that unless they do something innovative, this will be a tame ride.
  6. While they're at it, they should look at how Alton Towers do time estimates. They are much better overall and usually go a bit over so you know the queue is not going to be longer than what it says on the screens. I saw people queuing out the front of Nemesis Inferno with the sign above saying 20mins. No way is that 20mins! I waited a bit to see if it updated too but no.
  7. As a rule, I think Stealth should close the Fastrack queue when there's only one train running. The queue line hardly moving together with Thorpes terrible time estimates got to the point where people were were walking away after about an hour and a half of waiting. I don't mind people paying to beat queues but I don't think it's fair when there's a long queue for Fastrack and the regular line isn't moving.
  8. The fan sites have swapped parks! Towers Street is going to Thorpe Park this weekend and TPM is going to Alton Towers. Unfortunately I will be meeting TS at Thorpe Park this weekend.
  9. Maybe we'll get to ride Derren Brown's replacement bus service soon!

I think X would be much better with more smoke machines and louder music.
  11. Derren's posted a new pic of the train on Facebook. Silent hipsters, looks like it will be a train ride from hell! https://www.facebook.com/DerrenBrown/photos/a.10150216256971983.343009.92879641982/10154230043406983/?type=3&source=48
  12. Just been on Colossus for the first time recently. Have to say I think it is the best ride in Thorpe Park so far (excluding Saw I've not been on which was closed). Only thing that bothered me was the announcements in the station. It sounds so serious, like something you would hear at a train station not a theme park. Might as well be: "Please embark on the 15:08 ride to Colossus. Mind the gap" Also the ride was brought to a halt for quite a while because someone had dropped their belongings on the ride. The attendants slightly passive aggressively telling us "The ride has been stopped because a guest has dropped an item on the ride. Please remove ALL loose items!". Could tell they were annoyed, don't blame them!

I was not impressed with X. A lot of the lights were broken in the queue. The music was better and louder in the queue than on the ride. I was expecting some special effects on the ride and was kind of disappointed to find it's literally a small rollercoaster in an empty warehouse. There was a strip of lights just curled up randomly on the floor like some old christmas lights. Not impressed!
  14. I like NitroGenie. I think there should be more unique food and drink outlets at the park. If it's good, I don't mind paying a premium for a treat. What I don't like is paying a premium for the bad own-brand food like a burger with stingy toppings and mushy chips (Burger Kitchen). At least Thorpe still have some branded outlets. I have nothing against Merlin making their own food outlets, they just need to be a hell of a lot better than they are! Even McDonald's are making more premium burgers with fancy buns and better ingredients (like cheddar, smoked bacon, grilled onions, mixed salad). Slapping a square of processed cheese on a burger does not make it premium! I think NitroGenie need some more unusual flavours to really make the ice cream stand out. I first tried a popcorn flavoured one at Alton Towers last year and the ice cream actually tasted like liquid popcorn, it was amazing! I had the Oreo one at Thorpe Park which was alright. I should of gone for a more unusual one to get the benefit of the nitrogen keeping the exact flavour in the ice cream. I want to try the Lemon Meringue one next, it looks very impressive. My only criticism is why is there a speaker right next to the till blasting out music? I had to ask cashier to repeat themselves because I couldn't hear them.
  15. Hey everyone, I'm Mike aka Stuntman707 from TowersStreet. I've been a long time fan of Alton Towers but recently moved to Surrey so Thorpe Park has become my new local! I've just been recently for the first time and I loved it. Hoping to talk about the park on here and I'm also interested in the collaboration meets with the Alton Towers fans.
