I have no doubt that if Chessington advertised it in the right way they could have a fantastic winter event in the park with selected rides open. Afterall, Paultons event is incredibly popular because it targets the right people. And I mean, its popular despite no one actually knowing where Romsey is.
-
Chessington doesn't even really need to be open all the time between April - October anyway as whenever the schools are in, the park is dead. For the park to be open in February and November, would be like literally throwing money into the sea. Just a waste.

Schoolboy error.

You all suck. Caterham has no buses, no trains, no planes, no boats, no cars, only people wandering aimlessly to Tescos.

I have a theory that when people say Russia is properly prepared, what they really mean is 'Moscow' is properly prepared. I doubt the whole of Russia has snowplough after snowplough on every street, highway, side road because its such a large country. England is a densely populated country and unfortunately the snow we get every year just isn't often enough and constant enough to justify large amounts of funds going into diggers. The trains I do sort of wish were running better because it would mean I don't have to walk 2 hours to get to work on Saturday. But the thing is if the trains breakdown and then the recovery trains breakdown. And then the gritter trains break down.. I mean.. there is nothing that can be done and I'd rather just go "oh well" and get over it then moan on and on.
-
I don't actually think its a joke. What is a joke is peoples over-reaction to this whole snow thing. Things aren't running, deal with it. Caterham is cut off from the outside world, I was supposed to be in Brighton watching the Scissor Sisters. Instead I'm here listening to people moan about either the World Cup 2018 result or how snow ruins their lives. But it's cool, I'm dealing with it.Would you rather the train ran, it derails, killing everyone on board instead...

If you want to be completely true to life, some of Chessington's rides such as Rameses, Buccaneer, Toytown, Fury and Rattlesnake are dressed up fairground rides (Or can be fairground models for all the pedantics out there)...
-
I wonder, if Merlin purchased Caterham would I then get a brand new sea life centre, 4D experiences, my own Dungeons and maybe even a bit of Octopus Gardens. It would no longer be called caterham on the hill. It would be.. Caterham on the Eye. I love it.

I've seen funnier and more interesting corpses frankly...

I just have to add that Blue Fire isn't a fantastic rollercoaster because it goes upside down. It's a good rollercoaster because it pulls so many different elements together into one ride and they all work. The theme, the launch, the speed, the inversions, the fun of it.

The broken one or the working one?

My boyfriend has been there. He says he loved it more then life itself. So there we go

If anyone could come up with some decent, high-throughput flat rides that would not only be relevant today but relevant in 20 years time then be my guest. Because at the moment, as antiquated as Enterprise, Blade and Ripsaw are, they do still do the buisiness because they are such theme park staples.Whereas the only flat ride at Thorpe which continually interests people is Rush. Vortex may as well be dead, Samurai's popularity will be non-existant come 2012 and Slammer lost all recognition the moment Rush opened.People are very quick to say Alton need flat rides but when asked what ones they think Alton should get, the conversation seems to just dry up. Jump 2's are occasionally mentioned, as are S&S Screaming Swings. But nothing that says to me, yes that would absolutly fit at Alton Towers and compliment the excellent rollercoaster line up.People also forget that back in the 80's, Alton had an incredibly large selection of flat rides. 10,000 nights, Magic Carpets, Gravitrons, Dynamo, Boneshaker. And now we're down to four. Flat rides just don't seem to meet the standard or have the capacity for a park like Alton. So go with the flat rides, I would be intrigued what people come up with.

You know I've just realised, we don't have a topic discussing what rides we actually like. Sure we talk about each indiviual ride at Thorpe Park and to a lesser degree Alton Towers and Chessington, but what about all those little rides that you may have ridden that have been virtually ignored.I'll start the ball rolling with five of my favourite non UK Merlin rides. 1. Superman de AceroA lot of discussion about Floorless coasters always centres about the non event of the floorless aspect if you aren't in the front row. Well that mattered so little to me as Superman is one of those perfect rides that is virtually ignored, and yet is absolutely brilliant and my favourite rollercoaster. With a mix of fantastic air time on that first drop, brilliantly intense inversions and a zero g roll that has yet to be matched, fantastic thrills and yeah the floorless coaster is defunct but no one ever comments on the amount of freedom you have as you rides. Legs as far up as possible, just you and the track in front with no obstructions. Fantastic ride!2. Blue FireAbsolute classy ride. It single handidly shows Intamin that this is how you do a smooth, thrilling launch coaster which lasts longer then a sneeze. A mix of air time, inversions and excellent hand/head choppers, Blue Fire is sheer Mack class. I'm so glad they've sold two more of there megacoasters, they are excellent.3. Mondial CaprioloThe most thrilling flat ride I've ever ridden. From the ground it looks like a souped up Booster. I hate Boosters, over-rated, slow loading pieces of boring nothingness. The Capriolo is on a whole different level and had me shouting expletives as I just couldn't believe what the ride was capable of. It's hard to describe as you really have to go on it to fully, sort of understand why its such a beast. Worth finding at fairs.4. G'Sengte Sau(The only pic I had =()Gerstlauers first attempt at a rollercoaster and remains my favourite ride they've built so far, G'Sengte Sau shares many traits with my other favourite ride, it's surprisingly under-rated. From its little layout and hidden away themed beauty its a wonderful attraction. Hidden away in Germany, it may not have the Intamin and B&M'ness of other German parks, Tripsdill is definitly worth a visit.5. Black MambaSeen as the natural successor to Nemesis, Mamba's hype seems to have died down since it opened. It's a shame because its a great ride. Like a snake wriggling through the bushes, the layout takes you through caves, up through buildings and through the over-growth. The theming on Mamba is the most impressive part. It's scale is unmatched by most rides in Europe. So there's just a few of my favourites. What are yours?

Yeah thats right, the guesses are for tomorrow night. I think doing it everyday would get a wee bit tedious so it will be every now and then.

I did see that Marc was at the Twynersh last night. Whilst points had been awarded I will be awarding 5 points to whoever chose the Twynersh. This is because.1. I make the rules and break them as I decide 2. There wasn't a rule saying after I have given points, I can't give out more afterwards3. Whether Marc eats there or not is beside the point ScoreboardDaniel H - 15 pointsAndrew - 5 pointsJosh C - 5 pointsNext game will be tomorrow!
