Always wondered this myself. Anyone have any ideas? Any employees on here? I would also like to see pictures of the refurb.

There's generally always at least one log on those bars and it sometimes changes from my observations. I gathered that it's like a holding area where they put any logs that they don't need or require maintenance.

  • The historic wooden Roller Coaster is now a Grade 2 listed structure.  I think that's great news, as it means the coaster will be preserved. https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/

  • That looks like quite a lumbering turd of a coaster.

  • Oh yes, I can vouch for the wooden coaster being a thing of beauty, could ride it all day. Also enjoy Mulan (or whatever it's called) which goes at quite a speed and has the little canopy that comes

Unless they use that log as a rescue log or something incase for some reason they alll get stuck, I know when I went in the summer a log jammed in the station which caused a massive backlog around the ride cause some fat people stood up to early to get off and all the water under the log went and jammed it :s

Also I wonder if they will replace the family star when I went there it was shut alot of times as the cars kept geting stuck on the breaks as they lost air pressure, the roller coaster refurb looks good so far havnt seen the blue or green car refurb yet, I think they r going on the track this year but the other 3 cars look good

Awwh, no new rides this year D: Hopefully they have spent their money on doing the park up a bit, for instance a lot of the rides need paint jobs, such as evolution,

Anyone got any log flume refurb pics yet ?

EDIT: No chance of evolution repaint they are selling it :/ along with the tubeslides, waltzer, go karts and safari train, all for this new casino complex :s

I might be going to Great Yarmouth in February half term so if I go then I'll take a look for the refurb.

That seems like a bit of a stupid move, they're removing their only major flat ride and a decent classic. No one really rode the slides and train so I can see why they'd get rid of them. Is this confirmed though or just a rumour?

comment_175613

Confirmed, they are on this website for sale :http://www.ridetraders.com/ViewItems.aspx , waltzer page 18 , Evolution and go karts and tube slides page 22.

Apparently they have been up for sale since start of 2013 and havnt sold one yet, I know they need to make space for the casino but theres no need to get rid of evolution, mind you the waltzer cars were barely spinning at the start of the 2013 summer season :s They should just exetend the theme park to include the log flume in the park and have the gardens revamped to part of the theme park!

comment_175615

I admit that the Waltzer cars didn't spin that great as well but seeming that Evolution was pretty much in the middle of the park, why would they need to get rid? Then again I don't think I've ever seen it with a full load of people on it, it wasn't exactly a massively popular ride. Makes me wonder what'll take it's place, or if they'll actually use the space for the casino which I can't see happening because it's a family park and they shouldn't be allowed to put a gambling facility in amongst a place with kids in it.

We'll just have to wait and see

After having some thoughts, I think I know what will replace the evolution. I'm guessing as Twister has been moved to behind the Waltzers/Go kart tracks because of the Family Star coaster, when evolution goes they will move twister there as it can't stay at the south end of the park.

On another note the log flume is still having a refurb and will not be open until late May! Also has anyone seen the Blue or Green cars paint job on the coaster because all the cars should have been refurbed now, I've seen the Orange, red and Yellow one last year but the other two where in the workshop.

I really hope the log flume gets a really nice paint job though, if they leave it bare metal, there was no point spending money on it!

A little update:

  • The Log Flume's second drop (the smallest one) has been completely demolished.
  • New flume track pieces are on site and some have been replaced in the existing trough
  • A small-ish support like structure has been put up.

Aside from the flume, on my visit earlier this week Family Star stalled because of high winds and was closed for the rest of the day (shows how badly designed it is). The Scenic Railway is nearly fully repainted and 3 trains have been repainted as well (Orange, Red and Yellow.)

Has the 2nd drop gone forever. I hope not it wont be the same. I'm also shocked they have not finished refurbing the coaster trains the yellow, orange and red ones were on the track last year with the green and blue in the workshop for refurbishment. It took them 2 months to do each car its taken over a year to do the blue and green ones. :L

I'm not sure about whether the second drop is gone forever or not but if they're replacing the track then they'll probably do this for all the drops at some point so I can't see any reason for it not returning.

As for the Roller Coaster trains, all they seem to have done is repaint them and put a new set of wheels on them so I don't get why it takes so long to bring them back. Maybe they just got rid of them seeming as it only runs one train mostly (usually the orange one)

Pleasure beach have said on their facebook page that the the log flume will be opening in 4 weeks time, just in time for the holidays. They said this on the 22nd June so hopefully in 3 weeks time it will be up and running again.

I really hope during the refurb they have fixed Log 11 its annoying its the only log without the pleasure beach logo on, Also the handles on the front you can't really hold on because of the padding of the log. It looks like to me that log 11 is a newer log than the others due to the differences. To be honest it would be better to have this log on the bars in case of an emergency than log 3, as log 3 actually has the logo and holdable bars :)

Everything is staying the same, all they are doing is swapping the rusty parts of it with new shiny parts, I'm guessing next closed season the first drop will be worked on ( the second highest) as this season they replaced all of the smallest drop pieces as they were causing damage to the logs due to the holes in the pieces and bumps in it!

Just a heads up about the Roller Coaster refurbishment. I have talked to someone that currently operates the coaster. He has said that the the green train and the front of the blue train is currently being stored in some old maintenance sheds, somewhere near the dodgems. With the middle and back of the blue train sitting behind the twister. Their plan was to refurbish all five of the trains, but annoyingly for them the only person who had the experience to extensively refurbish the fibreglass bodies has sadly left, meaning they have nobody experienced enough to finish the blue and green train. So they are now waiting for someone qualified enough to finish the cars, which could be days or years, we will just have to see!
