Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach

Not bad hours for a seaside park really, those summer hours look reasonable and better than Towers & Chessie's no doubt.

Doubt they'll be any new rides this year with the ones they had last year but anything could happen.

As a park it's alright, but aside from the main coaster, Snail ride & fun house most of the rides there are average really.

I find it hard to get excited over a seaside park who have a constant stream of people coming in over the course of the day and also get a big slice of evening action having long opening hours...

Especially given the cost of running the place will be pretty much half of what any major park does...

Seaside parks are a completely different market to a regular park, given that most people probably spend two hours max, rather than an entire day...

That's exactly the point though surely?  Their opening hours are spot on for a seaside park.

On an additional note. The prices for peak time wristbands has gone up from £19.50 last season to be now at £21 for this season. The annual pass has also gone up £5 now being £80. I hope there is something in the pipeline to justify this price increase, considering the price has not gone up by this much for quite a few seasons.

An update on whats happening at Pleasure Beach this closed season. This year the Waltzers, Sky Drop and Pirate ship are receiving both mechanical and appearance overhauls. Along with this the Fun House is getting a face lift on the outside. Lastly, the log flume is undergoing another season of major structural work. Mainly being the centre support structure. Pics below:

Pleasure Beach have decided to get another big wheel for this season. Although this one is different from the one they had back in 2009.

Its due to be ready for the start of the Easter Holidays which is when they open. Will be interesting to see if they include this in the wristband price. Considering it has gone up to £21.50 Peak this year I hope so!

The historic wooden Roller Coaster is now a Grade 2 listed structure.  I think that's great news, as it means the coaster will be preserved.

In other news, I believe that Evolution has left the park.

I will be gutted if Evolution has left the park, bar The Scenic Roller Coaster it was the best ride there :(

I agree, it was a very fun flat.

This is what GYPB have said on FB;

 I can confirm that the Evolution ride has gone and that we are looking at several rides with the possibility of replacing the Evolution. I will let you know when we have further news.

Spinning Pennies from back in the day, which is what this is with a slightly different seating configuration,  are really great fun rides. They used to be everywhere, I've no idea why they died out.

This should be a good little ride. It doesn't really have the same presence (and possibly therefore draw, which might be an issue for a pay per ride park) as the outgoing Evolution,  but I bet this'll be a more enjoyable ride.
