Who in the name of Shane Sandwich signed this absolute monstrosity off. Cue the Merlin sycophants with "wELl ItS A GoOd OPpORtuNItY tO gEt MoNEy IN" No, No it's not. It makes your multi million pound investment look like total utter trash. Total garbage that speaks volumes. Could have even gone for "Flipz Valley", at least it starts with an F. Wonder if SLKSTN will talk this one up. I'm intrigued to see if ANY vlogger has anything good to say about this whatsover, or will they be too scared to lose their Press Night passes for Fright Nights? Well, I can think of a channel straight away that will rip it to shreds who don't have an invite to Press anyway... Alright dudes, keep those fins inside the fish....

I wish Thorpe were the first in the UK to get an Intamin Gyroswing. Thought it would've been good to have one in Slammers spot to compliment Hyperia. Swinging above the lake would be cool though. Would love to see Rush get replaced with a bigger model and moved so its swinging above the lake.

There must be a budget for when there is an unplanned replacement. You can’t have two rides in that area SBNO

Vortex has now been removed from the app, which likely means it won’t open anytime soon. It was testing mid July but hasn’t been seen testing for a good while now so another issue must’ve cropped up. Fingers crossed it’s back soon. Very rare I go to Thorpe and don’t have a couple rides on Vortex.

It doesn't help that these external food stalls are far better quality than the Aramark slop.
  21. I think for Thorpe it works well, given the broad target market and vibe they go for. The cut and paste style and having it at Towers (and to a lesser extent, Chessington) does have less an impact though.

What I would give for Merlin to head away from the box park concept and into something more interesting and dynamic.

Looks great. Exactly what we all said it needed, more seating and more food units

  25. Stitches is also set up now:
  26. In a similar fashion to Alton Towers, Thorpe now have a selection of street food stalls, all in The Launchpad. The stage is set up for Thorpe Lates, and a lot more seating is available (I think some of it moved from the old Saw Alive path now that construction is taking place there). The area was the most alive I've ever seen it, and definitely how it should be used.

  28. Wildest reaction to launch yesterday. A young woman alongside me flung her arm out (still attached to her body) grabbing me almost by the throat in terror, so intense that I had to check she hadn't ripped my shirt, wow! She did apologize afterwards.

To be fair they could move that fence over in less than 5 minutes, so I don’t think this necessarily suggests it’s long term. Even having that there for a week is “worth it” in terms of effort etc. It also must be incredibly convenient being able to build the maze without worrying about nearby rides / paths etc. Hopefully they can at least get Vortex running again before Fright Nights. It’s beginning to feel like Zodiac might be a lost cause though.

  35. The tent has been covered. It is 5 roof panels wide; Stitches is 6, so it's a bit smaller (but still very big).
  36. JoshC. replied to Lewie900's topic in General Discussion
Vortex (and Zodiac) look like they'll be down for a fair while longer as their entrances have been fenced off to allow for Fright Nights construction to pass through. They wouldn't need fences that far forward if the rides were open, so it's likely to stop people going so far unnecessarily.
  37. It’s yet to be confirmed but there’s a good possibility that a zone has made way for the new maze. It’s slowly been the case since 2021 that zones have become fewer and fewer. I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see crows again as much as I love them. They’ve been around in some form since 2020
  38. Agreed the Glitch last year was very disappointing. The fact it's gone after 1 year probably says everything about the guest feedback it received. I'm not sure four new mazes fills me with confidence though. I'd much rather they focus on quality over quantity. Purgatory, Doom Town and Wastelands show what Tulley's can produce when the budget is right so I'd rather see fewer, higher quality attractions than 4 that feel rushed.
  39. Interesting, always thought that was a good location for the Crows and has always been by far the strongest scare zone. It also has a high capacity so would be a strange decision to remove it. I dont have any pictures of the Stiches tent, but is that about the same size or smaller? Looks smaller to me? I wonder if this could be an extension to the Crows to make it a full maze, new maze location, or Stiches relocation.
  40. When DeadBeat was introduced, Thorpe had a 3-maze package (of the returning 3 mazes), and the 4-maze package too. So I guess it's not totally unheard of for them to do something like this. My hope would be that this 5th maze is something different to the current norm. Paying £40 odd on top of entry for 5 "Thorpe mazes" where you're batched in a group, have a pre-show, wander round well-themed sets as actors jump out at you just feels a bit overkill to me. Yes it helps with capacity, but I'd question whether it improves the quality of the event. What "something different" looks like is of course a different question. My personal preference, once again, would be an alone experience. I don't mind spending more on something like that. But if there's not a market for that, which I accept there might not be, something which is done in smaller groups, and just 'feels' different to the norm. Tulleys had success with that with Purgatory, for example. My biggest criticism last year was how all the mazes felt the same, just dressed differently. I hope they can avoid that. I also hope that they have the finances and the numbers to man 5 mazes plus shows and zones adequately. On another a note, a tent has been set up today on Saw Alive's pathway: Whether this is the new maze, or perhaps Stitches relocated there, currently unclear.
