  1. What a fab mini-documentary! Really interesting and showcases what Busch Gardens are all about.
  2. Very very good point guys! I hope it's what you said. Those things are always interesting!
  3. Benin if that's all you have to say in the way of a constructive comment then I'd suggest there are many other areas of the forum for you to post. Not only was it not constructive but you came across as being rude to what was a perfectly valid question.Sorry Mr Man, I don't have much information on what you're describing, but as Benin said, it's very likely to be a PR stunt by the park to try and get them some media attention.
  4. They probably want extras for the filming of an advert or something and want people between that age. It's a relatively restricted age range though!
  5. From Thorpe Park's Official Facebook Page:"if you aged 16-24 and have been to our Fright Nights before we'd love for you to come down on Thursday 9th June to give us a hand. Drop us an email at press.office@thorpe-park.co.uk with Fright Nights as the subject line if you're free!"Sounds Exciting! Anyone offered to help out?
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lSrAlVOMWM Ahhh! Aww it's going to be quite emotional once it ends. I was 11 when the first film came out.
  7. I suppose I'm lucky in the fact that I don't find Colossus rough due to my head being well above the restraint. I remember the worst time for Colossus for me was when they had those awful metal plates on the sides of each car whilst they were waiting for new restraints from Intamin.Colossus was great in 2002, those original restraints were awesome.I can't wait to get on Colossus again actually. It's one of my favourites!
  8. I think the sign was there to discourage some of the more "vocal" thrillseekers from going on the more family orientated attractions. You have to remember that the park was going through a transition period of being a family park to a thrill park, it's not until very recently that Thorpe cemented themselves as a true thrillseeker's park. I bet even now, there are still people who think Thorpe is more for families. It takes a long time to change a culture and to change a reputation. I would imagine with the higher proportion of teenagers and young adults they would want to try and keep the family rides relatively trouble free, if you catch my drift.
  9. Dancing my actual butt off to music... kinda like a silent disco! :D

  10. I'd just like to say one thing. All major record labels are businesses and the bottom line is they all care about making money.RCA is one of the worst for this and they treat their artist like products and seem to make it very obvious.
  11. I disagree with this slightly. There are thousands of truly talented people who struggle and work their butts off but have no such luck. The mainstream music industry is very political so I would see why a show like the X Factor would be very appealing to a struggling artist who is trying to make it onto the scene.Very appealing actually... you're launched right into the industry and learn about all aspects of it, such as media, singing live, recording, when you come out of the show, you still have many fans who will support you and during the show you get to try many different genres and sing different styles of music. That's one side anyway. I'm not a huge fan of the show, but I do enjoy some of the truly amazing voices we get and love watching the audition process.Hate the producers, not the contestants! They're the ones making false promises.
  12. Ohh interesting! I don't know a definite answer but it could be many things. For instance, the upper half of the Mansion contains many of the park's operational necessities such as HR, Payroll, Control so if there was an issue up there then I would imagine it would affect Hocus Pocus Hall.Alternatively, there could have been a minor issue such as a fire exit sensor, certain effects not working, control panels packing up. I think Hocus Pocus has to shut if a certain number of its effects stop working as well.

    Doctor Who

I keep thinking back to many of the one liners from River now. "My old man isn't watching is he?" Referring to Rory. Just made me giggle. And I have a theory that the man who she killed- the best man she ever knew.... is Rory. I think the fact that he keeps dying is deliberate and there's more to it rather than just being lazy writing.Oh and Dan, I can't remember off the top of my head but I'm gong to watch it again later and look through series 5 soundtrack. There's a possibility that it's a newly composed piece for the episode. However, what Murray Gold does so well is create music that has little hints and snippets of previous tracks so there may be a hint of familiarity to it.For instance, much of the soundtrack for the Christmas episode contained the same motif of "When you're alone... silence is all you'll see". (can't remember the name). But because they were arranged slightly differently, it may not have been totally obvious, but subconsciously the information would have been absorbed. Another more obvious example is when The 11th Doctor's theme is worked in and around new tracks to give it that extra flare. He's genius. :)Edit: I've just been looking back over the last 7 episodes. I think they've been beautifully paced. I've enjoyed every single one of them in their own way. Even the Curse of the Black Spot and The Rebel Flesh. In 7 episodes that consisted of several twists, cliffhangers and high tension drama, these episodes created the necessary breathing space for the audience and for the arch to develop. My least favourite was probably the Rebel Flesh, but even that story worked because it was sandwiched between the fantastic Doctor's Wife and the incredible twist at the end of the Almost People. The audience needs time and space to breathe. If we'd have had 7 episodes of Impossible Astronaut/ Day of the Moon and Doctor's Wife/A Good Man...well, I'd be exhausted!

    Doctor Who

I've just watched the mid-season finale. I think I've fallen in love with Moff even more. I spent the last hour on the edge of my seat and in tears at many points. What a fantastically moving, dramatic and action filled episode.Sadly I accidentally had the River twist spoiled a couple of days ago but it was still awesome. I'm going to have to go back and watch several episodes again including this one to take it all in again.I'm listening to the series 5 soundtrack now. It's just so moving and it's sounds sad but I'm in tears now because it's all so exciting. HA.

    Logger's Leap

I believe it's an infra- red camera so they can see that the ride and guests are behaving themselves.Edit: Luke beat me!

Oh don't get me wrong, Kelly is one of the most gifted artists out there and has one of the best voices in the industry. A lot of people don't realise it though or perhaps forget that she won the very first American Idol back in 2002.Her record label obviously choose the singles that'll make them as much money and will appeal to the mainstream, commercial business but some of my favourite songs on her albums are ones that many people will sadly never get to hear. When she leaves RCA we'll be able to hear more rock/ blues/ acoustic stuff from her.

It's no secret that I'm a bit obsessed with Kelly Clarkson. I'm so excited for her new album which was pushed back to September after the Label Executive left. She couldn't release anything until the replacement arrives in July, which is when she releases her new single. Here is a very sexy 8 second snippet of the rumoured 1st single. Typical rock/ pop for her but she's never going to be able to do anything different with her current Record Label.Let Me Down
  18. Coaster credits are basically a tally of how many coasters a person has been on, I think. I'm afraid I don't know too much about them because I just tend to enjoy the experience and entertainment of a theme park rather than count how many I've done. :DI get that it's a big thing for a lot of enthusiasts though!
  19. I would really love to know why Merlin feel the need to receive sponsorship to get rid of some cobwebs and give the ride a lick of paint.
  20. Are they still only playing the short loop? To clarify, the theme is basically repeated twice but the second time around it has a bit more oomph with extra drums. Could someone clarify?I agree with Mark, whilst I liked the idea of a loading music and then fading into the dispatch theme, the old silence and dispatch was so dramatic. Inferno's station used to be very imposing and full of drama in those first few seasons. Now it literally feels like a tin shed as much as it looks. Shame!
  21. The development at Alton Towers have made it clear that they like to do something different when building major attractions. You can call them gimmicks but then you could call anything that's not your conventional sit-down coaster a gimmick. I know I would personally Alton spent their money into creating a complete experience but I know that's not going to happen, and they'll continue to throw money at new technology and to be different from the rest. That's all well and good, but it saddens me to think that something that should be a creative experience is being done for the sake of being different and controlled by marketing. The thing what's upset me with Oblivion is that the queueing is an integral part of the experience of this ride in the same way Expedition Everest's queue is paired with the coaster. One without the other is not a complete experience. With the queue plastered with adverts, I feel as though part of the attraction has been perverted.Alton is number 1 in this country but like Chessington, it relies on its older secret weapons to carry the park. Alton is fortunate to have the rich history and beauty otherwise I wouldn't be so sure of its position within the UK.

    Lady GaGa

Just to clarify, it wasn't Gaga's idea to sell the album for 99p or whatever. It's actually one of the ways Amazon promotes the site in the hope that people stick around and buy other things. Amazon takes the loss of the profit from each unit sold, the Record Label still gets paid the same amount for each unit sold by Amazon. They've been doing this a lot lately.

    Doctor Who

So it's the last episode of Doctor Who this week before the summer break. So much has happened this series already and I'm sure the summer is going to be an agonising wait.A Prequel to A Good Man Goes To War has been released by the BBC. Mild Spoilers here, so watch with caution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiB3SdlQ6sI And also a trailer for the episode below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vna3NcIZS3w SFX has rated the episode as "a true 5 star episode", you can catch their teasers for it here. Can't wait to find out who River really is!
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if the new maze did replace Hellgate this year. From reports it sounds as though the actual maze itself has seen better days and it's always good to refresh older attractions. Thorpe already have 4 mazes on park which is epic really when you consider Alton still only has the one, free maze.
  25. Thanks for posting all of that Rave, I never knew the Paradise Pier was getting a fitting re-furb- sounds great. I'm not personally a fan of all these attractions being built on franchises, however I'm glad the resort is finally getting the major investment it deserves. ;)I'm a bit confused by the Mermaid ride really. there are some fantastic scenes and awesome animatronics (not sold on Aerial though) but it literally goes from Ursula's lair to Kiss the girl and then the ride ends. If you didn't know the story (which I appreciate would be very unlikely) then you'd be forgiven to think that Ursula saved the day.
