Well chessington have now finished applying and my national insurance number still has not arrived. I have a friend whos NI number arrived a month ago and her birthday is 5 days away from mine. 5 days! And now its too late. No chessington job, no park tickets, nothing to do over summer when my friends all go off on a trip. I have to wait another year to apply again and its not fair. Just because my national insurance number is late, and now I cant have the job Ive always always wanted to have. I still have some stuff I kept from work experiance... Its not even about the pay or the perks, I just want to work there, with the friendly atmosphere and people and rides and it will get me outdoors and moving more and and and oh god I wish I could work there. This is just so unlucky and unfair... Grrrr

Dimmingsdale is about a kilometer below Oakamoor and if you are on google earth, it should point out the youth hostel. The quickest route to alton towers from the youth hostel is about 1 and a half miles, and I end up at the chained oak B&B. This is roughly behind alton towers and I'm not too happy about walking three quarters of a kilometer on a busy road with no pavement to the entrance.Actually, not finding dimmingsdale might be my fault...Its actually spelled Dimmingsdale-not dimmingdale.The route to alton to get a bus is entirely different and is about a km longer.

Ok, I'm trying to plan an alton towers holiday with a friend and I am looking into a youth hostel in Dimmingdale, which is about a mile and a half west of alton towers. This would mean that if we were to walk to alton towers (Yeah, we have no car or anything), we would end up right at the back of the park next to X-sector. Is there any back entrances what so ever to the park? If not we will have to walk about 3 miles to the town of Alton to catch a bus which is too far to walk.

The path does not end up there. It ends up in a small nearby forrest/area called Dimmingsdale.

Ok, now after being miserable for 12 hours and all the hope of mine being drained out, I have re-applied for welcome host. With zoo host as second option and rides and attractions as third.

Ok, well I can forget that, because I didn't get in.... Does anyone know if there are times when people can re-apply? Like in April or for the holidays?

To be honest, its not about pay for me. I just really like the idea of being part of merlin. I worked there for work experiance and it was amazing, and the people there are so nice too. I got a rush from helping out a kid who had a nosebleed just because I was helping out and was part of the merlin team. Obviously, that sounds inceadibly sad...but hey, I'm on a theme park forum here! I enjoy being part of something like that, and it wouldent get in the way of my GCSE's. Ive thought ahead about how I would revise and work. But if we are talking about the pay...it sounds unbeleivebly good. I mean, truely amazing for me to get earn money for a job that I would enjoy doing.

I am 15, so I cannot apply online,but I will get my national insurance number in time for work to start at chessington...So I wont have my National insurance number when applying for the jobBut I will have it when work starts.I have contacted Chessington about this, and they say that I have to use an "alternate method of appliation"

All I want more than anything in the world right now is to work for chessington this year. But due to my age, it makes things complicated. I am old enough to apply, but I'm young enough for the whole process to be so much longer and complicated than it should be. And then I hear on facebook that one of my friends as an inteveiw next week... She can get an interveiw really quickly because she is born a few months ahead of me... I want this job more than life itself at the moment.I have now done an online application and waiting for an email soon...dear god I hope I can get in...

It is genuinly one of the best experiances you will ever have until you actually work there. Each area is so different and unique and it is so awesome I love it :D:D. You do however have to attend a day before hand with alot of kids your age who are also doing it, which is a bit annoying...but thats about it
