  1. Happy 18th birthday to scarycoasterboyMAN!

  3. My fault - in my displeasure for the ride, I wanted to take two away from it. Alas, I've been caught. (But seriously, it was a mistake - I've edited now. Thanks!)

  5. Colossus (3) Nemesis Inferno (6) Rumba Rapids (1) Rush (5) Slammer (7) Stealth (5) The Swarm (8) Swarm + Rumba Rapids - I've wasted a 'precious' minus against Slammer because Rumba Rapids really doesn't deserve to be anywhere near this high up I'm afraid...

I've got my baseball cap on and ready to explore this new TV show! Let's try this - anyone going to own up to being a member of the Mafia?
  9. I remember hearing a while ago about the possibility of a Mack Youngstar for that site. Not sure if that's still possible now though. As for theme, Pingu would be good. Also, just so that I can relive my childhood a little bit, I'd love to see a Teletubbies coaster!

Premium holders get the Castle Dungeon for free. There's no need to book in advance for it either.

  12. Simple thread really - what theme parks are you thinking of visiting in 2015? What trips have you got planned, are in the middle of planning or still umming and ahhing over? --- For me, this year should be very exciting. -Merlin-wise, I'll of course be making the most of Thorpe still, fitting in as many trips as possible. I'll also aim to go up to Towers a couple of times too. Legoland and Chessington are unlikely though; Legoland just doesn't have enough to entice me unless I know enough people already planning on going, and well, Chessington just upsets me these days... -UK-wise, I hope to return to Drayton to see the Thomas Land extension and to go back for another visit. Realistically, Paultons and AI are on the cards as well (AI almost almost happened in 2014, but alas not), but I guess I'll have to see. -Europe-wise is the most interesting and exciting for me though, of course. Liseberg (and Helix) are calling me, and that seems likely to happen at the end of August / beginning of September. I've also really wanted to go to the likes of Efteling, Toverland and Phantasialand for a good few years, and I think I now have the time and money to make that a reality this year!

    Happy New Year to everyone!

  15. I still find looking at this space now so weird - it's surprising just how dominant the arena walls were! As for the space, I expect it'll either be used as a walkway (given how much space the work site will take up and that area is a major path) or as an easy access path to the site (as it stands, access to the site would mean going down the service road, appearing from the CCR route, then going down past the Calypso BBQ - not very practical!) or even both. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some more exciting plans for the space down the line. Just, for the time being, I doubt we'll see much excitement for it.

  17. Matt, you need to wait until 3 OTHER people have posted before being able to go again. I think you should be renamed from Matt Creek to Matt Sneak!

  20. Whilst I'm not defending Merlin here, I do think some things you've said here are unfair: -I can't see anywhere where Merlin have publicly said '2014 ends on December 26th', or words to that effect. They always do a sale starting Boxing Day (well, for the past few years, I mean), so it's not a 'random' time either, technically. -It really bugs me that people complain about renewal prices being the same as ordinary prices. Up until now, the new year sale meant that a renewal price was MORE EXPENSIVE than an ordinary price. People didn't complain then, saying that their loyalty wasn't being rewarded. Why complain now that the ordinary price has been raised and so, in effect, making loyalty a slightly better thing? It just doesn't make sense to me! As I say, I'm not defending Merlin here and I can well and truly see the argument some are making about the price (being sent an email saying it was one price, then it being another, being a 'sale' which is actually more expensive than before, etc.). However, in fairness, if you have the email, Merlin are apparently honouring that price in the email, so that's something. I do hope that Merlin make some form of public statement / email to all current passholders. Out of all of this, the one thing which I find most disappointing is the lack of communication from them regarding this. I appreciate that their social media team may well be on a Christmas break or something, but that seems short-sighted given they've put a sale up - there's bound to be questions. So yeah, I do hope Merlin communicate something soon really. Maybe all of my opinions are swayed by my personal circumstances. For the past few years, I always got my AP in this sale. I would never look at the price before Christmas day and then just go for the cheapest option (except last year, where I got a Premium). This year, I'm getting a Premium again and personally, I'm okay to invest £150 for it - yeah, it's a lot of money and yeah, it's a fair bit more than normal, but I think it's worth it still. Yes, I'm annoyed that I could have gotten a renewal cheaper before Christmas, but I guess I'm also aware that a sale is no guarantee, and that these sale prices are from the 2015 prices, not the 2014 ones. It's annoying, but I guess I lucked out on my waiting.
  21. I can see why this would annoy people, but personally I'm not too fussed by it. If there's certain midway attractions that they want to leave out of the Standard pass, then that's up to them. It could well mean that less people end up visiting, so that's something that will affect Merlin more than passholders in my opinion. I do hope that they give Standard passholders a discount though. The capsule change took place for this year. Last year (2013), it was £16 - not £8 - for unlimited refills. This year, they changed it so that you paid £1.99 for the capsule, then 75p per refill (which is the case for 2015). Was not a popular decision! You make a good point here. I can see why Merlin call this a "sale", since it is a reduction on the new prices of the Annual Pass. However, I always thought that the original price had to be used before they could do a sale price (you notice it with supermarket and shop adverts all the time - whenever they have a sale on big items, you see in the small print when the 'full price' for the product was used. My only thought here is that because the pass is "new" (slightly different T&Cs), they can get away with it as an introductory price. However, as I've said before, I still think £149 for the Premium MAP is good value - it's just a shame that they're offering it at that price after saying it would be cheaper!
  22. Wow, what an awesome sounding trip! Sega Republic looks pretty cool, and thank goodness that we don't see customer service like at Wonderland in any parks around Europe! Must say I'm kind of disappointed that the log flume at Ferrari World wasn't open - I've been curious to hear reviews of it for a while now! Formula Rossa sounds pretty crazy, I'm glad the ride experience doesn't let up after the launch; POVs (yeah, not a great source!) seemed to me that the ride became a bit lacklustre towards the end. Thanks for this report Ben; really enjoyed it! Look forward to seeing what you've got up your sleeve next year!
  23. For the record, free parking at Legoland IS included with Premium passes; presumably it was simply just missed off the list, but it has now been added.
  24. Compared to other years, yeah, this season has been a bit underwhelming. In it's own right, it's been okay, but unremarkable. I'd say that's the case for Chessington and Legoland too, and that we're looking at more of the same for next season across all the UK Merlin parks.
  25. I had a similar problem a few years ago - just went to the AP office and they reprinted it free of charge. I believe a charge only applies if you lose it or damage it by your own fault. You'll *probably* have to go to the attraction you bought it from, but no harm contacting Merlin in some way (Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.) to find out if that's not convenient! 1) £99 is the family price, so if you're buying just an individual pass, it will be slightly more than that (£119 for Standard MAP, £149 for Premium). It should say before you put in the the basket the sale price. 2) As you as you're uploading your own photo and all that, you can input the address you want it sent to during the process.
