Went to see Avatar yesturday, I actually don't rate it very highly at all. For me, after the 90 minute mark had passed, I was bored, dis-interested and eagerly awaiting the end to be honest. Yes, it was extremly action-packed, and the special effects were incredible, however, the film was far too long and dragged on a great deal. I saw it in 2D, and I can see how it would be so much better in 3D, yet after seeing it once, I wouldn't be able to go through watching it again, even if it is in 3D. A good effort, and I can easily see how most people love it, but for me, just very, very dull.
  4. The Flying Fish has actually grown on me a lot since 2007. I have great memories of the pre-2005 ride, yet in terms of theming, all I remember is a lot of shrubbery, the fountain, but actually a lack of buzzing atmosphere. I don't remember any particular audio on the ride, which in my opinion has the ability to completely change a ride experience. I love the 'surfer' theme of the new Flying Fish, and the audio too. The announcements are perfect for the ride, and the positioning (just beside Neptunes Beach, near Tidal Wave) is excellent. I agree, the ride now has an atmopshere, which at times can be electric (especially when it's the first ride of the day). At the launch in 2007, I wasn't awfully keen on the ride, as I had the great, childhood memories still lodged in the back of my brain. But now, 3 years down the line, those memories have gone, and I absolutely adore the fish for what it is.

If only this weather could happen in a week's time, it would just be.... perfect.

The christmas holidays have finally begun! I can now look forward to 2 weeks of revision and christmas celebrations! I've a very busy week ahead, so chances are that I won't be back on here much until the week after next. I would just like to take this oppertunity to wish you all a wonderful christmas, and a very happy new year.
  9. This for all those who hate the early celebration of christmas.... We put our tree up today!

I just thought that some people on here might be interested, seeing as it is is a theme park forum. I don't know why, it just crossed my mind that the odd person on here might have a passing interest related to theme parks. Strange.

We're almost 1/4 of the way though the closed season already! Can you believe it?!For those who are interested, it is just over 108 days to go.
  14. I think maps are used mainly for showtimes (specifically at Chessington & Alton) and finding places to eat mainly. Like you said, I think most people just walk around the park and go on whatever ride is in front of them. Also, I think park maps make nice souvenirs of a great day out, and many people who visit rarely will keep them as a souvenir.
  15. This year, I have been to Thorpe Park around 10 times. For me, that's the most I've ever done in one year, but it wasn't until after September this year that I started using the train to get up there. I always used to rely on parents to give me a lift, and that meant that I could only go once every school holiday. Now that I can use the train to get up there, I will be very likely to go a lot more next year than this year. Should increase my fanboy rating! <_<On topic.... Am I Thorpe Park addict? I'm not addicted to the park in general, but there are certain little aspects that I can't get enough of. Here is a small list:1. Walking from Lost City into Amity Cove at 9.30am and seeing Tidal Wave in operation, empty. The whole area empty, the smell of the water mist as it floods through the area. 2. The ambience sounds of Lost City played by the Information board and around the area, (birds tweeting, general lost city wildlife sounds etc)3. The smell of the SAW station. (Don't know if anyone else knows what I'm talking about, it's sort of a musty, yet nice smell). 4. Just being in the Colossus station. (For some reason it always seems the busiest out of all of the coaster stations for me). I could stand in there all day just watching the same routine over and over again. There are more, but that'll be enough for now.
  16. I've never tried it, but I must admit it smells divine.
  17. I never actually said that my life was much more difficult than anyone else's in the world. I appreciate that compared to most adults, I probably have quite a stress-free life. But for my age, and compared to my previous experiences, I am at the most difficult and stressful time in my life.
  18. I know how frustrating that can be. Although it doesn't affect me now (because I'm doing higher tier), I once did a French exam (Foundation Tier) and it was so frustrating knowing that the maximum grade you could get was a C. It just seems to take all motivation to do well away.
  19. Lol! Good ol' Armstrong & Miller!
  20. Thanks <_<Good luck for your B1a exam.
  21. I did B2 and P2 today, I was fine with B2 but seriously failed with P2. I know what you mean, we've never been taught theoretical velocity and I was just sitting there like ! Also on the B2 paper, loads of people in my exam missed out the 4 mark question on Meiosis on the back page. Luckily I saw it and had 5 minutes to do it, but I must have seen about 20 papers collected up with a blank page. I couldn't believe how difficult the physics paper was, I seemed to just forget everything I'd been taught in the past. But yes, Biology was quite good for me. At least we have the structured out of the way anyway, that is usually my worst one. At least with the multiple choice you have some idea of what the answer could be! ;)Can't wait for Wednesday!
  22. I agree with what Keith said, the retakes are usually placed with other major exams. For example, I had one of my Biology exams this time last year, and got a B so decided to retake it (I'm a perfectionist ). The retake was on the same day as my Maths 1 exam, which was 50% of my Maths GCSE (pretty important!). Luckily I was well prepared in both exams, and got good results. But you never know....The best bet is to always try to the best of your ability on the first time round, and then use the retakes as a back up plan if you need them.
  23. No problem. It's quite good in a way, all of the exams are modules so you can retake them up to and including 3 times. (I.e.: if you want to improve, you can simply take the exam again). That's not an excuse not to revise for the first ones though!
  24. I'm in Year 11 now, and my year was the first time that coursework was removed from GCSE Science. GCSE Biology, GCSE Physics and GCSE Chemistry are now all 100% Exam based courses. (I.e. No Coursework).
