  1. It's not exactly difficult to refurb the interior of something old into something new... As for it being 'mind boggling', we can only say that when the thing eventually opens... They might just be using a really simple trick or whatever, because lets face it, those are usually better than over-elaborate ones... Peppers' Ghost is still in use for that exact reason...
  2. Just shows how bad Merlin are at planning things properly and efficiently really... Proven by likes of Thirteen having finishing touches on the morning of opening... Need to plan things better, that simple, always feels like a rush job, irrespective of reasonings behind the delays...

Male only toilets are sexist though... #triggered
  4. Point of order, Big One isn't rough, its just dull... #jamiebait
  5. None of the inversions on Helix interact with the terrain, they're all high up from any land... Even the Norwegian Loop the terrain at the bottom isn't noticeable mid ride... These rides are more about the open feeling and various forces... And as Mark said, it'll easily beat anything else the park has to offer... Basing a ride off basic stats with no layout is no way to judge it...
  6. Already been discussed in another topic on here... It's down to evacuation procedure, since there's a ladder involved and I doubt Towers wanna risk anything else...
  7. Jamie would HATE Cedar Point, they literally close every ride if it's just spitting with rain... Think the other Cedar Fair parks are the same... Wouldn't be surprised if it's all part of damage limitation, especially given what happens when people attempt to fight back against our media... It usually just means that the place is put under more stuff...
  8. Ride opens on 1st July, theming will finish next year... It's a great fence if the ride isn't great...
  9. The accusation of a paper making up figures on the fly would be fine if the paper in question wasn't the FINANCIAL TIMES... As for the secret stuff, its the argument as to whether or not such a thing is detrimental to the ride's hype... Thirteen is another good example of this, where people thought it dreadful on opening day because the secrecy increased the hype for it... There's nothing wrong with parks laying it all out on the table early doors... Especially as it stops inane theories and the like...

Err, I didn't say the word was... The way in which that line was delivered when it played, was very Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffanys though... And I heard that line a lot when on Peeking Heights...

On the other hand, the old "Keep your booty in the boaty ok?", probably did slide towards the dodgy racism card side of things... Only in the sense of people who get easily offended over stereotypes like that though...

Polle's, Food Loop is terribly over rated... Alligators or Crocodiles?
  13. Some fantastic set pieces in that, and more importantly everytime you looked up it wasn't black ceiling! That's the biggest breakthrough... No idea on the storyline, and looked like a faffy bit at one point (boat stops for ages with the scene finished)... Always tricky to implement screens, they've done a decent job... Plus points for the references to the original rides too...
  14. Probably best bet is for online deals, unless you fancy trawling through German supermarkets, I'm not sure if BOGOFs exist... Of course if you're planning a trip to Garda within a year you could get the MAP as well...
  15. Benin replied to th13teen's topic in UK Attractions
Is it really that simple though? When had she previously ridden the ride? Could be that previous rides had taken place prior to last year's crash and since safety levels were heightened... Also "I've been on it before" is the OLDEST excuse in the book when a person (or more normally, their kid) is denied access to a ride... What level of cast did the other ride have? Might be that they still had control of their hands and had at least some degree of movement... Imagine if she had needed to evacuate the ride? Towers were pretty much in a damned of they do, damned if they don't situation... One perspective in a paper (especially given the storm around Towers) does not give the full story...
  16. I know, Kong looks amazing doesn't it and yet we know nothing of the actual show part...
  17. Benin replied to th13teen's topic in UK Attractions
Depends on the actual event doesn't it? Since part of the evac might require the use of a ladder (lift 2), and general H&S consensus is that 3 points of contact is the safest thing, she is actually unable to evacuate safely... It's very easy for people to exaggerate how staff treat them when they don't get their way... Just jumping on the bash Towers bandwagon, perhaps more an issue with the staff directly rather than a park problem...
  18. Probably part of a future phase tbh... Also, I've seen a few snippets of the Pirates ride, and omg, I cannot wait for a HQ POV to appear... Almost tempting to go tbh...
  19. Trying to think if the old Alien Encounter at WDW had a height restriction... Or what Dinosaur's one is, that is TERRIFYING...
  20. I've heard of the stories of PA, though when I visited (with unlimited Fastrack via the hotel), there was mostly just me and mark9 in the queues... Similarly at Parque d'Attractiones where it was €30 for unlimited stuff, few people used it... Spaniards probably don't bother since they jump the queues for free anyway...
  21. Late Summer? August is late in Summer... Lol at the onboard soundtrack by Fallout Boy frontman, just amuses me...
  22. It improves things for those willing to pay, for everyone else, it's not great when it's in massive quantities which is where the UK parks fall down the most... I think it's a cultural thing too, in Spain and Germany it's very rare to see lots of people using it, and its even cheaper than ours...
  23. Do wonder if people under a NDA actually understand it's meaning... Seems not if people on here are getting info from staff under one...
  24. It's a shame we'll only ever see it lit up for 2 weeks every season (or until the bulb breaks, lol maintenance at Merlin)... As for ride signs, its neither amazing or poor... Ride signs are pretty much an afterthought in the process of design, and this really is no exception to it... Putting a light behind it does not make it unique or special in any meaningful way...
  25. Aside from it having nothing to do with Space Mountain? I think it looks fab, and for anyone interested it's cheaper to go to Shanghai for a week than stay at Paris (on-site)... I'm more eager for a PotC POV though...
