Yep, would quite liked to have ridden this yesterday to see any changes. But several times we went past and was told it was a 55min wait. No thanks when Saw and Inferno are walk on..,
  2. Much prefer the old laser dot guns over the wide round circles of the new ones. The Sally guns remind me of scanning items at a checkout.
  3. They've ruined the Inferno music even more. Still annoying I'm a Celebrity music in the queue. Then when the train is dispatched it plays a safety announcement over the original dispatch soundtrack. You volume is quiet so you can not hear either clearly but can we please just go back to the drama of bass pumping dispatch without any announcements over the top!
  4. Swarm open for February half term last year but not March this year? Weird. Maybe the change of seating has had an impact. Also weird how it was ok over winter to get Tidal Wave tested and ready for Sunday but not two coasters.
  5. I'll take Swarm being open over Slammer. Weird how there was a video a week ago of Swarm running but you never know what crops up in staff training and ride testing. Just not sure if it's worth the journey this Sunday or wait a week for better availability. Anyone know if Inferno will have it's usual track 'rust' dripping issues? Just in rain at start of season?
  6. Colossus, Swarm and Rush stated as being closed this Sunday on the TP website. Saying they will be running from the 17th.
  7. Just noticed this in the Annual Photo Digipass T&Cs - talking about the Derren Brown Ghost Train photo point? "At Thorpe Park Resort Annual DigiPass guests qualify for £5 off the lenticular and 3D Head in Jar merchandise"
  8. 60mins for Monkey Swinger and 45mins for Jungle Bus. Crazy. Normal queue time of 100mins for Vampire for the week that you can ride it in the dark.
  9. Please no. Would much prefer something like a Sky Fly too. Not a fan of getting wet at the theme park (I know some people are). One day I pray that we can get a decent capacity family coaster.
  10. The smoke effects haven't been working on my last few visits to the show (Sunday and at the start of the year). Little things like this to sort please. The crowd on Sunday had the pleasure of Ricky as host on the microphone and entertained and slightly confused by John Cena...
  11. Such a great day on Sunday. Park opening seemed busy with a massive annual pass holder queue but everyone seemed to disappear and we were left with empty queuelines pretty much all day. Knew the travelling folk would be there, being the first Sunday of Fright Nights, but they didn't cause us any problems. Can be quite intimidating when they congregate in large numbers however.
  12. Agree with everyone saying how awesome Inferno was running on Sunday night. It was flying! So fast. Also hate the IAC jingle going off throughout the queue, luckily there wasn't much of a wait on Sunday. Could never hear the Fright Nights music/announcement in the station, compared to the Colossus one which is mega loud.
  13. There is a great photo trip report here for anyone wanting to see inside in a bit more detail, but unable to go themselves: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70915
  14. ^Yes, was dispatching quickly on three boat operation on Saturday just gone.
  15. Wishing everyone injured a good recovery. Terrible thing to happen. Was at the park both Saturday's over the past two weeks and empty & early morning trains were certainly travelling slowly through that part of the circuit. Maintenance quite often had to come along and manually advance trains through the circuit's blocks after breakdowns. It is a major concern that the ride's computer would allow this to happen.
  16. They won't send the train in the station until the previous train has stopped in the brakes. They used to 5+ years ago and the lift motor would slow down/stop (like the Swarm nowadays) to compensate. However, the ride would shut down so often due to motor problems, not wanting to start up again basically, (and therefore people needing to be evacuated off the lift hill much more frequently) that they decided to stop doing it.
  17. Thorpe are doing terribly again this year with coaster capacity. Visited on Wednesday, the really hot day. Queues up to 90mins. Stealth on one train all day, multiple breakdowns. Swarm opened up an hour late, on one train until midday (I waited 20mins and then they added it on, total wait 50mins). Nemesis Inferno opened up around midday, got in the queue within 5mins of it opening when it was displaying 20min queue and waited 50mins at which point they added on the second train, total wait 80mins. Over-selling of Fast Track and staff mismanaging the Fast Track queue... Colossus we know about being on one train, queue up to 70mins. X still not at full capacity, queue up to 60mins. How often do you get to say it was actually SAW that probably had the fastest moving queue!? Same thing at Chessington. Again, we all know about Vampire. But how about Zufari operating in the Easter holidays with only two trucks going around, with 2/3 sat unused. Something has gone really wrong this year. And seems to most years...
  18. Staff on Truckers have earplugs, but I have also noticed the large number of guests complaining about the noise this year too.
  19. ^ Can I suggest a font change for that image? Really hard to tell if the digits are 3s, 5s, 8s or 9s
  20. Hello everyone, going from mainly lurking on the forums to posting something serious. Trying to be brave this coming year and adventure out to the USA from England for the first time since 1995 when my parents took me to Disney World! In the past couple of years and I have gotten into playing pinball (hopefully some of you are familiar - think silver ball and flippers). There is a big pinball competition called 'Pinburgh' held each year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and this year it happens to be at a time of year when I can actually make it (July 2015). I'm a teacher so have five weeks summer holiday from half way through July to the end of August. Therefore, as I'll be coming from England I'd like to extend my visit by doing a road trip of some theme parks around the area in the East. I've dreamt of visiting places like Cedar Point, Busch Gardens and the Six Flags parks for many years. Can you help me make this an awesome trip? Here's my basic outline of the trip so far, though it may have to be cut down depending on cost - if anyone has any thoughts on the order, places to stay or any other tips, please advise: Day 0 - Fly to New York (which NY airport do most people fly into from England? Is there even a choice?) Day 1 - New York, touristy things like ferry past Statue of Liberty, Times Square; riding the Cyclone, Thunderbolt and Wonder Wheel Day 2 - Six Flags New England Day 3 - Dorney Park Day 4 - Knoebels Day 5 - Hersheypark Day 6 - Kennywood Day 7, Day 8, Day 9 - Pinburgh pinball competition @ Replay FX expo, David L Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh Day 10, Day 11 - Cedar Point (two days?) Day 12 - Kings Island Day 13 - Holiday World (and water park?) Day 14 - Dollywood Day 15 - Six Flags Over Georgia Day 16 - Carowinds Day 17 - Busch Gardens Williamsburg (I'd be interested in doing one of their behind the scenes coaster tours if on?) Day 18 - Kings Dominion Day 19 - Washington - touristy things like White House Day 20 - Six Flags America Day 21, Day 22 - Six Flags Great Adventure (two days?) Day 23 - Back in New York for flight home to England I based this the assumption that flights and car hire would work out cheaper starting and ending in the same place - would this be true? I also assume the flight from England to New York is direct. The other option would be to fly into Pennsylvania (probably not a direct flight?) and start and finish the trip there. This might reduce the number of days I need a hire car by 3. Any thoughts? General questions - if anyone has any answers/advice that would be awesome: *Car hire? Has anyone got tips for hiring in the USA? *Is it best to drive in the mornings to a new theme park each day and then have a nearby hotel for overnight, rather than driving each night to the next destination? How does it work with checking into accommodation? *Where to stay? Would you have a different place each night? Or can some of these places have a central hotel 'base' that you could drive out from? *How much would you budget for accommodation each night? *How much would you budget for food each day? I'm not a big eater at all! *What queue-busting options are there at each park? How much should I budget for them? I appreciate this is a bucket load of questions. But I would be eternally grateful if anyone can provide any help to make this trip amazing! Thanks, Andrew
