Not sure if this is aimed at me or not (I prefer BPB to Towers so it's probably a sarcastic remark linked to that), but it's a very good way of driving people (me) away from the forum.
-
I was only thinking of effects rather than lighting, but actually I agree that the state of the lighting is very poor.
-
What's wrong with the maintenence of the effects at BPB? Apart from Valhalla they all seem to be working on most of my visits.
-
I think they half-fixed it, then it broke again.Actually that would be a good description of the whole park to be honest...

The thing is, recommended age limits are fine, but a strict restriction is just silly. I did my first horror maze when I was 11 and remember being distinctly unimpressed (as I was expecting it to be terrifying), I enjoy them now but they aren't scary enough to be worthy of such a high blanket restriction IMO. It's also a strange move from Towers because as others have said, numerous people will now be unable to enter, causing them to make less money.
-
It seems very strange to be strictly enforcing this rule, I wouldn't have classed any of the past Scarefest mazes as unsuitable for people younger than fifteen - unless they are seriously bringing up the scare level this year.
-
It looks like a hooded figure to me, could just be the pattern though.

Focusing on scare only (rather than quality), here would be my ratings: My Bloody Valentine 5/10 Cabin in the Woods 5/10 The Blair Witch Project 4/10 Saw Alive 2/10 Studio 13 4/10 The Asylum 7/10 Experiment 10 (first year only) 9/10 The Curse 5/10 Se7en 5/10 Hellgate 6/10 The Passing 1/10

Interesting to note that the beginning with the cogs is very similar to the current Doctor Who opening titles. Still, it's likely just been put there to throw people off the scent of what it actually is.

There seems to be about five rides which open at 11am now, ridiculous really when you think about it.
-
Why, because they have a different opinion to you? I haven't been on Rage but I prefer The Smiler to Saw, guess I need my head tested then?
-
Is anyone watching this series? I thought today's episode was very good!
-
Shame. Hopefully they can use this time to fix the long-broken effects!

I'm not so sure, visibly it will be one of the first things people see as they enter the park, and it's very noticeable. I think it's fair to say that from the outside, this is the most visually impressive maze Thorpe have ever had - Scruffy Dog have done a very good job with it so far. It would be great if those carnival games were in the queueline, or if you get to have a go on them whilst waiting to be batched into the last section.

I can imagine The Big Top getting very long queues considering its location and the fact that it stands out a lot. Hope they're aiming for a high throughput with this one.
-
I doubt there's any truth in that. Surely even Thorpe wouldn't spend a whole season with four rides closed?

New for 2016 - Park-Wide Improvements
Coaster replied to MarkC's topic in Chessington World of Adventures
Interesting, but I'd much rather see them invest in the park. -
Not being able to do anything in my house without having a cranefly divebomb at my face! Urgh!

There's talk on certain Alton Towers fansites of it re-opening tomorrow. I doubt it will, but at least the work taking place on the ride shows that they are planning to re-open it at some stage (probably next year).

Oblivion second? Now that is the definition of a "basic" ride!

It depends on what you are scared of, but I would say that Cabin would be a good one to start with as it's the most fun (you get to choose where you go etc). However personally I find Saw Alive the tamest. I don't think the mazes are very scary in all honesty, but that doesn't stop them being fun.

I have no problem with the force, you must just be basic.
