  1. Are they trialling RNR this Friday?

    Slammer

It's had it's month of being open, now that's it for the season Joking aside, hope it opens soon.
  3. This sums up my thoughts on the ride, there is no question that the theming and presentation of the ride is second to none, but it really doesn't seem to offer an outstanding ride experience, although you can't judge a coaster from a POV. Personally I would much rather have a good, solid coaster with less theming than an average coaster which is heavily themed, but both would be nice!
  4. It's not just a few fountains though, it's the most important part of the ride and in my opinion one of the only good parts.
  5. I don't like the premium ones either, it's a strange idea and the only reason people would actually wear one is to say "look I'm a premium/VIP passholder", and I don't see why anyone would want to do that other than because they somehow believe that they are better than non-passholders.
  6. No, apparently it's impossible to run two trains on it, and has been since they changed over from the old trains (back when it was still Roller Coaster) to the current trains (which were from the Big Dipper I think) due to a bizarre change they made with the station setup. You would think that after the Grand National they would know better than to tamper with another station! I think it is more a H&S rule rather than them literally not being able to run two trains on it, I think that theoretically the ride still could if they sorted it out.
  7. BPB's Speedy Pass page on Twitter has posted that they now do individual speedy pass "shots" as well as the reserve and ride system with the following prices: The Big One £8 Infusion £6 Avalanche £5 Valhalla £5 Nickelodeon Streak £6 https://twitter.com/SpeedyPassBPB My view on this is that it is a ridiculous decision. £5 for one ride is just about passable, but £8 is a complete joke. I also think that to include Nickelodeon Streak is a complete farce considering the dire throughput and horrendously long queues it already gets, instead of sorting it out they are using it as an excuse to make more Speedy Pass sales and make the problem worse! BPB's attitude towards throughputs has struck me as very lax this year and this is just one step too far IMO, the park is not designed for speedy pass, it was designed to shift queues and a fastpass system should not be needed. Instead of addressing the issues they are increasing them to make more money... oh, but wait, it's not working is it!
  8. The frustrating thing is that attention to detail is something they used to be spot on with!
  9. Doesn't it just cycle back round round the system though? So it's not like they are wasting loads of water?
  10. I hope that Saw is back open before the main summer holiday period, as queues will be unbearable on the other coasters without it.

Yeah, same reason why the lifthill and first drop of Air are painted black, just in case the ride shows through the tree-line.
  12. Agreed about the finale, it is dire and made worse by the fact that the water effects rarely work anyway.
  13. I've always thought that the pyramid is painted in the wrong colours, blue and silver (just for an example) would look really good but it looks awful at the moment.
  14. Classic Thorpe! Glad I haven't paid £50 to get in today.
  15. Facades are fine when done well, for example Duel at Alton Towers where the entire warehouse is hidden by trees. Having one right in the middle of the park isn't great though, but at least it has a facade unlike X.
  16. I hope that the queue times website is wrong at the moment... 11 rides closed! It's showing Depth Charge, Logger's Leap, Rocky Express, Rumba Rapids, Samurai, Saw, Slammer, Stealth, Storm Surge, The Swarm and Tidal Wave all as being closed. Staggered openings don't work if you can't even get the other rides open!
  17. To be honest I thought the preshow was dire, but the bit with Chase should still play as you queue there. I'm glad they did away with Gotze.
  18. Then they need to be honest about it, telling people stuck in a 60 minute queue that there is no demand for two trains is frankly taking the mickey.
  19. If the staggered openings allow for coasters to be on capacity on busy off peak days then I'll be be more supportive of it.
  20. I was thinking that as well, the queue seems quite a bit slower than last year.
  21. I hope Depth Charge isn't included in this considering it's dire throughput and the fact that it's the first impression you get when walking into the park. Obvious cost-cutting measures being taken here, not impressed to be honest.
  22. Rumba Rapids is currently on an 85 minute queue according to the queue times website! https://queue-times.com/park/thorpe-park What?!
  23. Oh for, it's complete idiots like that who cause perfectly good rides to close down or be ruined!
