  1. The trough itself is my biggest problem with the way the ride looks. We know it doesn't fit and was poorly thrown in but there is no reason for it to look quite so much like that is the case. Painting the trough and some sort of blending and softening of the ride against it's surroundings could make it look much less turd like for no great cost.
  2. If we could get that X music we'd certainly put it up there! One day, hopefully... Ride Sims is run by our friends at Towers Nerd, I don't think we'd link to it from here to avoid confusion.

    ...Of The Year

2013 is nearly done, stuff has happened. What were the best bits for you? Feel free to add any categories. Album of the year Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City. I can't still get enough of it, it is beautiful and perfect. Step and Ya Hey being my highlights. Song of the year Daft Punk - Get Lucky. Blurred Lines and Wake Me Up both tried to take over, but Daft Punk will always be the sound of this summer for me. Music Video of the year Blurred Lines What's not to like? Titties Film of the year The Worlds End, great way to finish the trilogy. Also enjoyed Oz the Great and Powerful. TV Show of the year The Wrong Mans. James Cordens comedy drama was a joy. Sporting Moment of the year Has to be Andy Murray winning Wimbledon. Would have to happen a year I don't go through, wouldn't it. Personal Moment of the year Nearly being struck by lightning excitement. That and spending the day on a skid pan while getting paid for it.

    Dreams

What would worry me in trying anything to induce lucid dreaming would be in some way triggering a sleep paralysis episode, the two seem like they should be linked with the unusual thing of real time knowledge of being asleep being present for both. I would not want to do anything that might make that happen again! I've strangely (for me) remembered another dream I have had, the second in as many weeks when I usually recall nothing. This time I was in a castle with Harry Hill, I can not remember what actually happened but think some sort of chase was involved. Riddle me that.

    The News

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-25163045 Just last week I was at our local police helicopter base here in Essex, got to have a good look around it inside and out while it was on the ground and chat with the pilot and staff then watched it lift for some pretty stunning manoeuvres. Following from that only yesterday we were discussing the possibility of something like this happening and how it is amazing it doesn't, then it goes and happens. I hope all involved are OK, but frankly it doesn't look good for those on board at the least. Got to wonder if the lack of fire is indicative of a lack of fuel in the helicopter when it came down, surely it would have burnt if any amount of fuel was present?

    Doctor Who

Pretty stunning performance in the US for this. why do we get so few episodes when they can clearly run it at a profit? Surely this has made all of its production costs back and then some.
  17. I'd not even heard of this before now. Had you recorded it off the tv or is there another way to see it? This response from SeaWorld on the Wiki article Without having see it it's obviously impossible for me to tell, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if this has been made with an agenda and is not exactly impartial. Documentary film is only ever the makers truth.
  18. Usually the best way is to annoy the hell out of whoever it is that can do something, your landlord/staff. Every time it is a problem for you make it a problem for them by calling them and ranting at them. They won't want that so might actually help you. That, or go up to his room with a baseball bat and smash the crap out of speakers?

    Random

88 that I remember, but I bet I saw half the 80's crap at the time and have blocked it from my memory for being horrifyingly bad. Disney really have made plenty of crap in their time.
  20. The only individual ride I can think of that I really unnerves me to the point I sometimes struggle to enjoy it is Samurai. The forces on those restraints that have no visible back up are huge, and the restraints have a lateral movement in them that was not there a decade ago and just feels wrong to me, they should be solid as a rock like they used to be. That coupled with the parking problems which suggests the ride doesn't really know where it is any more (which is quite important when you look at the angles involved and what it could do if it got it wrong) make me slightly relieved every time it is over. I am of course not suggesting it is unsafe, but I don't trust it as far as I could throw it, and it could throw me a long way. I am always slightly uneasy on indoor rides where I am restrained to the extent I couldn't get out if I really wanted to. At some point everything burns in the end you know. As I get older more things go through my mind about things like; the huge forces on components on rides, metal fatigue, the thousands of individual parts there often are to fail, the millions of cycles they have done, the mistake an engineer can make under pressure to get something open, the Intamin stamp of manufacture, the fact that I am likely to be the heaviest thing the ride has encountered in a while so if it is ready to go I may just tip it to breaking point etc etc. Mostly though I just find that stuff interesting and it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the rides at the time.
  21. I think the biggest mistake they make with the rage bandwagoners is their general over niceness and trying to appease them. When people come up with these stupid reasons to be angry at nothing they should very firmly but politely tell them they are being moronic and will be ignored; the sane people would probably respect them more and the idiots would not bother and take their rage elsewhere. Thorpe went some way towards this with their asylum response. The other very poor thing from Towers facebook this year was the handling of the Smiler downtime, with updates too slow and too late. I wouldn't be surprised if this tactic came from above though, and it is not actually down to their social media people. The silence was deafening either way. Unfortunately there is no real way to feed back either of these things within the survey!
  22. Facebook competition on their page at the mo, like and comment for chance to win a 'goodie bag'. Worth a go, I wonder what is in it?

Biggest Regret? Snazzy. How odd, works for me!
  24. I love seeing these sorts of things, thanks for sharing. How about an addition to the VIP package line up for closed season, 'come and take a ride apart with us' offer. I'd be up for that!
