    There's a clue there somewhere...
  2. It is the less busy days that this is a bigger problem really. The days that are actually busy fastrack is an offensive to me but legitimate service. I have had it happen to me (last year or the year before, can't remember. It's in one of my trip reports somewhere), Saw queue, being shouted at as I entered about 'Skipping the hour queue' to find the queue was actually passed the merge point. There is no rational explanation other than trying to make fastrack sales where none are required. There is no way staff can honestly mistake a walk on ride for an hour queue, it just isn't feasible. The whole thing is disgusting.
  3. Hardly surprising is it, when you compare the quality of that ride and opening from a comparatively tiny park with tiny owners (a ski resort operator apparently!) to what we have been given in recent years. There is no comparison.

I don't want to have much of an opinion before having ridden for myself, but from POVs the biggest missed opportunity to me seems to be the pre record track when you have a real live driver on board who could be doing the same thing with some humour and interaction thrown in. May as well have a tracked ride if you're not going to do anything with the driver. That and the danger cave spectacular leaking tap.
  5. 1987, as part of the very first wave of zoo to theme park transformation. So it is old, but I remember it feeling kid of rickety even when it was new.

The ORP was not back then but quite late on (mid 2000's some time) and very short lived (as it was crap). The old colour scheme just feels right to me. I don't know if that is purely because it is my first memory of the ride or because I actually preferred it, but although the colours are a bit garish in themselves they are quite pastel and work well avoiding the more illuminous palette of the fairground. The snakes were awesome, should ever have been allowed to go. Just shows disappearing theming is no modern phenomenon!
  7. And there by heavily dubious fastrack sales are made. So wrong.
  8. So Wallace and Gromit has previewed Not been getting the best reviews but I think it looks rather charming and fun, as a W&G ride should!

Going through some old photos and came across a few of Rameses in its glory days that I thought I'd scan in. They aren't the greatest pictures but give a good idea of how it looked, I think they are from opening year - 1995

People been blaming that jolt on many things, one theory is the ground moving about as it is reclaimed land. As it has been that way from day 1 I doubt there is any significant ongoing movement in reality.

This seems like quite a big problem to me. Not so much of an issue if it is just me and the Mrs, but if squeezing in with others it's not nice. And without sharing it is poor value.
  12. I love the look of it, crazy moves going on there, but hard to tell without actually riding it. I think it might be rather telling that only one was ever made though!

I'll wait till I ride it to decide and it seems like a definite improvement to me, but at all looks all a bit light, like the whole space is too lit up. It is probably easier for instillation and maintenance to have a central light stack, but I would have much preferred it to be sectioned or localised lighting in some way.
  14. Don't bother. It doesn't matter who you ask, you will given the corporate line. They aren't going to tell you they let it all rot so was unsafe, are they? It is also very doubtful they even know to what extent they will be replaced or when at this stage.

Open an hour and still no review? Come on people, I'm waiting! From TPM facebook
  18. Not seen them myself but apparently there is a 'pay for child adult goes free' coupon on some Kelloggs products. Which is nice.

Before you know what they feel like? Wait and see, eh.

4x4 was one of the first bits of info given out in a press release months ago, and also you've quoted a picture showing just that. So yes, confirmed. There is no need for OTSRs, regardless of how many inversions it has. I expected these, I wanted lapbars. You didn't know which it would be..
  21. Everything seems to suck at Chessington right now. I'm supped to be going in a couple of weeks, wondering whether to hold off until later in the season when they've pulled their finger out.
  22. pluk replied to JoshC.'s topic in General Discussion
Well who could have guessed that would happen, huh?!! Regardless of ride experience, this is why it was, and remains, a stupid idea that should never have happened.
  23. I have been shot down many times here and elsewhere for suggesting the park engineers queues for you to pay your way out of, but in the past they absolutely have done exactly that and this is the most common way. I've not seen it this year, but then I've not seen it busy this year. Has it started happening again? It is a disgusting practice,

They do look rather stunning. A huge shame it is not lapbars in my opinion, seeing as the Gerst lapbars are already proven this seems like a backward step on a ride that looks to be so innovative otherwise. I'm not saying it will, but this has the potential to really limit my ability to enjoy the ride. Look the same to me.... With the smiler the restraints colour accentuates the cut out with padding to the side of your head your head (ie the important bit!), but if you look at Saw the shape there appears exactly the same but is hardly noticeable because of it all being black. Sorry, but no. That is rubbish. Also, is that pattern on the back of every seat, or just the back row (ie back of the train with no one sitting right in front of it? A bit much if it is every row. That's the sort of thing that can set epileptics off just as much as flashing lights!
