  1. Looks like we are being carried away by The Swarm itself. Take me, Swarm.
  2. So two people go for £67.20 if booked online, or £52 to go with the inevitable half price vouchers and buy the fastrack when you get there. Why don't Thorpe make buying in advance the cheapest option? Surely it would be to their own advantage as they could massively cut the staff in the ticket booths and also get people to commit regardless of weather on the day.

It may be B.S. but the new ride is in the paper. It works, it will continue.

Good luck with the Sainsburys job, I used to work for them and they are actually pretty good employers.
  5. I don't like the idea of that one. A major opening like this should be an event for everyone, not just the few that can visit often enough to justify an AP.Says the man without an AP!!

I don't speak Spanish, or whatever that is, but at 00.46 I'm sure they are pointing out "look, the water is not up to our ankles like at that scummy Thorpe Park".
  7. To be fair, you get a lot of great staff who do do just that. But that just shows up the miserable and inattentive few so much more. As a massive generalisation the worst culprits I find are the bag people, I appreciate it's probably not the most exciting job going, but how about serving me without chatting amongst yourself for once?
  8. Maybe meaning ultra violet / blacklight? Which does leave it kind of dark but don't see why it would fit a rustic log flume. Making that tunnel dark is one of those pathetically easy jobs that Thorpe make me mad by not doing.
  9. Of the new batch - The Swarm and Woooden are top of my list. Shamalalawhatever doesn't grab my attention like those two, I know it should but it doesn't.Of the existing - George and the Dragon, The Beast, TTD.Out of reality - The original looping Son of Beast needs to be rebuilt just for me, burst blood vessel in the brain seems well worth it for that experience. Also, Texas Cyclone. It is an absolute travesty it was torn down, 6 flags should never be forgiven.Cedar point is the one park I must visit that I have not, 6FMM I've been to but really want to go back. Tokyo DisneySEA does look amazing too.
  10. I love these things giving it a sense of scale. How small do you feel standing next to a fire engine? How small does a fire engine look sitting next to the swarm? That fire engine looks like a toy!
  11. In my eyes 'carpark' is a recognised theme, and one that does not swallow up the precious budget. ;)I think Nemesis ST is as likely to be a world class attraction as The swarm or SW7. There will be other wing riders, there will be other Eurofighters, but ST looks to be an experience attraction, and if that experience is unique and well executed it could be something people from far and wide will be willing to travel to to try even though it is just four extremis drop towers.
  12. Date wise, two months today, we are on that.
  13. When they are Germans, and building perfection.
  14. How often you see any workmen working on a Saturday?
  15. WOW!!Odd doing it on a Saturday, guess they didn't want to start testing on Friday 13th?!!Fingers crossed for video soon, need to see what speed it is carrying.

Not to be morbid, but I bet there are plenty more in there, they've just not found them yet. Would have been a whole lot worse if they were far from the coast when it listed.

Anyone seen Matilda? I want to see Matilda. What with Tim Minchin being a genius and all, it must be good?

No it doesn't. That is not in any way a vertical launch. It is a horizontal launch which then goes into vertical at speed - like nearly every launch coaster! (TTD, stealth etc etc etc). Don't be fooled by some fins on the vertical, they may give a small boost (doesn't look noticeable in that vid if it does), but by that point it is well and truly launched.I take vertical launch to mean (at least very nearly) stationary in the vertical, then shot upwards. That would be a completely different feeling, and one I'd love to experience. It would also be (as far as I am aware) a worlds first.Whether this is vertical launch or not? Can't decide, there are a few fors and againsts in the design.
  19. Wasn't the idea of going on the 'missing wall' part of a ride it first competition? When does that get drawn?
  20. I know in a place full of AP holders this is not going to be agreed with, but in the case of the Swarm (and all major new openings) I think the opening should be a big event and for everyone, not just for AP holders. Let everyone come and be part of it.But then I would, as I haven't got got an AP.
  21. That's where my delay issues stem from - a visit to Port Adventura just before Baco opened, I was pissed off with myself for ages after that one. And if it's amazing enough I will go, I will be riding Woooodan this year even if I have to walk there. But it will be hard, sadly those student days don't last forever!Be interesting to see what DLP do with this money, and if it will be something special enough to get me spending, ie, not another Toy Story Playground or whatever they call it, but something with la magie.
  22. Well I'm not talking about places just up the road, am I? When I go to foreign parks (especially if it is just for park visits, not just an add on to a 'normal' holiday) it is fairly costly in time and money and a bit of a one off, so I want to time it perfectly to get the most out of it. The chances off me going again any time in the near future is slim to none (we can't all be students, eh! )It's flawed logic, but is very logical to not want to visit just before the next big thing opens.
  23. Nice, and much needed. But these things keep giving me reasons NOT to visit places outside the UK. I'm always thinking I'll wait until the next planned thing is open - and by then the next thing is planned so I wait again.....
