    2019 Season

I agree about limiting the carer to plus 1 instead of 3. Iā€™m grateful that the system is there at all and it creams my corn when people take the mick and brings loads of people with them - saw it happen on Galactica - 7 people which took up 2 rows when they only should have had one. As for people getting angry at staff for writing a time - thatā€™s the whole point of the thing - Iā€™ve never questioned it and on a couple of occasions theyā€™ve written a time which is actually longer than the main queue but they are doing their job. The whole point is that you get a ride done and then wait until the next time slot to go on the next ride - use this time to sit down, get a drink or get some space if you need it. People with RAP who get abusive towards staff should have it removed - canā€™t stand people who are rude and entitled and the more they do it and get away with it the more it will happen - I think that should also apply to MAP holders who are rude or aggressive aswell - remove the pass. staff need more support and not have to deal with guests being like that when they are just doing their job
  5. Oh God I hope not but hey just look at Angry Turds land. Well I canā€™t sleep so been googling acronyms and the following 2 are perfect - Failure Expected And Received Future Events Already Ruined I hate feeling so negative about Fright Nights because I usually really look forward to it but last year was awful - so my expectations for this year are pretty much zero meaning that I might be pleasantly surprised
  6. The inconsistency irks me at Thorpe - itā€™s like they canā€™t be bothered to complete a job or do it properly so it ends up half arsed - a few years ago some of the fencing on Colossus was painted - but only one side - do they think people are blind. It just doesnā€™t come across great - like Infernos exit - either paint it or donā€™t. Anyone got any idea how long Loggers will be left rotting for? Canā€™t see Thorpe getting a coaster for at least a couple of years but I might be wrong. Whilst I agree that money should be spent on operational rides, I wish theyā€™d sort out Slammer - itā€™s just sitting there doing nothing and has been for 2 years - fine if you never knew it was there but they just chuck a sign up for TWD Living Nightmare instead. And god I hate those bamboo fencing panels. ā€œWell hereā€™s a ride that isnā€™t open anymore, letā€™s disguise it with some flimsy crap bambooā€ - it feels cheap - maybe Iā€™m being harsh

    2019 Season

The amount of RAP users is huge and I agree with requiring both a doctors note and blue badge/PIP etc. I would imagine it would be harder to forge a PIP letter than a GP one but then Iā€™m sure people would find a way round it. The issue with just getting a GP letter is that pretty much anyone can go to their doctor and say they find queuing hard, pay Ā£20 odd quid and get RAP when they may not need it at all - thus making RAP queues bigger and longer for those who struggle. With me because I donā€™t get the higher rate mobility of PIP due to my problems being on the mental side, I needed a GP letter - my doc knows me very well and wrote one for me no questions asked. As Iā€™ve said before, I only started using RAP 2 years ago as I didnā€™t think I would qualify for it plus my anxiety wasnā€™t as bad back then. There are a lot of issues with RAP which make me understand why some of the GP get annoyed with. For example Iā€™ve seen people taking well over 3 helpers onto rides when it should be maximum of 3. Also itā€™s pretty common for ride hosts to either not sign the RAP card or sign it without putting a time on it - the new system at Thorpe with the scanners is hit and miss and in most cases they donā€™t bother scanning the RAP card at all. Ive personally witnessed a woman in the RAP queue for Colossus (when the RAP was at the ride exit) - she got her card signed (was also wearing the wristband) and then buggered off while 4 people went on the ride! The system is messed up in that Iā€™m sure there are loads of people getting RAP when they donā€™t need it, and those that abuse the system - Iā€™ve also seen someone take off a RAP wristband and give it to someone else - another guest witnessed it and reported it to staff and they dealt with it well. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if Merlin change their policy to just one helper which I believe is what BPB have. A lot of people believe RAP to be free fast track but when itā€™s done properly itā€™s virtual queuing - when staff donā€™t bother signing the card then it is akin to fast track which is wrong. I think staff need more training on the issue (Thorpe is by far the worst park for not signing cards). It needs to be consistent throughout the park and maybe have more staff because I think a lot of times the staff donā€™t sign the cards because they are dealing with not just RAP queues, but fast track aswell as the main queue line. I saw a vid on YouTube recently (think it was filmed a couple of years ago) group of young(ish) lads going to Thorpe to get ā€œfree fast trackā€ - one had crutches which he didnā€™t need, they went to guest services, got RAP and boasted about it - the vid has had thousands of views so Iā€™m sure it gave people ideas to do the same thing and the way they said it as free fast track - RAP isnā€™t free fast track but virtual queuing for those who struggle in large queues. Wow Iā€™ve typed an essay Edit - forgot to mention when I went to Thorpe for the first time this year they did the new photo card - I explained to the young girl that my RAP card expires in June which she saw when I gave it to her but she proceeded to do my photo card and the expiry date is March 2021? I questioned it and she said itā€™s valid until then and when my RAP card from CWOA runs out to sort it with them.

  9. ā¤ļø miss youĀ

  10. Saw was definitely my favourite maze last year despite going in it many times plus the fact it was open last summer aswell. I think with the loss of Big Top, the shortened down Blair Witch and the s**t shower of other mazes it was the only consistent one (for me anyway) and yup it definitely shows the quality (or lack of) of last years offering
  11. Anyone know whatā€™s causing the delay on Quantum? - on Sunday it looked ready to go but nothing - I heard that it was testing at some point during the day but donā€™t know if this is true as I only spent an hour in the park. I like Quantum - itā€™s pretty underrated I think and for me can be quite intense at times (it once literally made me sick after I forgot to take my second dose of anti sickness meds)!

    2019 Season

As far as rides go I do believe that most rides did reopen so credit for that. Agree about the security thing being forced upon them and that it is better than when they had tents but Christ the bag check process is so long and seems nowhere near as bad as Chessington and Towers. Regarding RAP - itā€™s a tricky one - although Iā€™ve being visiting parks regularly since 2013 I have only got RAP since 2017 - was told in 2013 that I was entitled to it but back then I seemed more able to queue but anxiety is a b%^tch and itā€™s got progressively worse the past few years - honestly donā€™t know how people will happily stand in a massive queue to get a RAP sheet for the day when it was probably one of the longest queues in the park. But saying that I donā€™t know what disabilities those people had as I know with mine it does vary. The place just seems like a park of queues - yes you expect queues for rides at this time of year which is fine but to have to queue a ridiculous amount of time before even entering the park I think isnā€™t great. Thorpe have some fantastic rides and credit to the guys working the rides that Iā€™ve encountered this year as they seem a lot more cheerful than last year. It just seems that Thorpe management have zero interest in guest experience or feedback which is a shame

    Scarefest

Had a look on the link but does anyone know if you can get single shot tickets for the mazes? - asking because the one and only time I did Sub Species I ended up in tears, had a panic attack and then an asthma attack eeek! Also wondering how strict they are with ages? I know they are 15+ and my niece is 15 but often gets mistaken for being younger and she has no ID at all. Looks a decent line up for this year - not even sure Iā€™ll be able to get there for Scarefest but fingers crossed ?
  14. Saw Alive showtime - genuinely made me laugh out loud. Donā€™t go giving them ideas
  15. Would love them to bring back Asylum but that will never happen

    2019 Season

Only visited Thorpe 3 times this season and went today - it was a nightmare. When we go we always leave to get there later than opening in hope that the majority of the bag search is done and this is usually the case. Not today - arrived and it was heaving to the point where I had a panic attack and spoke to a staff member whilst crying like an idiot - credit to him as I explained that I have anxiety and RAP so he asked to see the RAP card and then sent us down a different queue with about 3 people in. Got into the park - Tidal Wave shut, Inferno shut, Stealth shut, Walking Dead shut and the queue to get RAP was ridiculous - we walked around for about 40 mins (didnā€™t get on anything as the queues were pretty long) then went back to RAP queue which had got even longer. So yeah, first time Iā€™ve visited Thorpe and only used the toilet - my niece and I decided weā€™d have a better time going shopping so we walked an hour to Staines. I donā€™t like to be negative but today just made me dislike Thorpe even more - my first visit this year I didnā€™t enjoy, the last 2 were ok but today was just terrible. Iā€™m grateful that the guy at the queue for security let us go into a quicker queue but the whole place just feels shambolic at the moment. Massive queues for bag searches, massive queues for the poor sods buying day tickets, massive queue to get RAP. Yes I get that at this time of year it will be busy but surely the park can manage the queues a bit better? More staff doing bag checks, more ticket kiosks open, maybe split the RAP queue between where it is now and Island help. Oh and the cash machine at the front now charges you to take money out which is nice ? If I were a day guest paying full price (if anyone even does) or BOGOF I would be narked - having to spend a large chunk of time just to purchase a ticket is a joke. I fully agree with bag checks but they just need more people doing them to speed up the process - the queue today for bag checks at an estimate must have been at least an hour (probably closer to 90 mins) as the queue was actually coming out of the queue and snaking around. I used to enjoy visiting Thorpe and maybe Iā€™ve just visited the place too many times over the past 6 years but it just feels meh - no new rides this year - the confirmed loss of Loggers and now Saw Alive and in return we get an inflatable obstacle course which frankly looks hideous, naff gaming events and a pay for escape maze. I love the rides at Thorpe (most of them) so Iā€™m in no way slating them but the place just doesnā€™t have the same feeling that it used to - would love to see it turn around and I get that a lot of people will feel differently but for me recently the main enjoyment I get out of a day there is spending time with my niece
  17. Totally chose a matching colour there to cover up the signage ? Given that in my opinion, Saw Alive was the strongest maze last year Iā€™m guessing FN 2019 will be even worse than last year. Bloody hope Big Top returns but I wonā€™t hold my breath - although Blair Witch did have a year(?) off so who knows - plus itā€™s Thorpe Park - nothing would surprise me. Thank God Tulleys isnā€™t too far...
  18. The new VIP thing doesnā€™t surprise me in the slightest. The VIP passes did seem a lot of money but in reality the pass holders got a lot in return for that and it looks like Merlin are going for individual park VIPs to bring in the cash. There will be people who will buy them Iā€™m sure - loads of VIP holders annoyed that the passes got stopped. I have no problem with VIPs but really wish it was renamed something different and for the love of God I hope they donā€™t have VIP lanyards
  19. Random but I can barely ride Swarm these days which is naff as it is my second fave coaster there - I literally have to breath at certain points because other parts of the ride I actually canā€™t breath on (sounds weird I know) - I donā€™t think the vest restraints help the situation. Iā€™ve also greyed out a couple of times which Iā€™d rather have happen than stop breathing ? - if I do ride it I have to go left hand side and near to the front but even then itā€™s not a pleasant experience. I get the same thing happen (but to a lesser extent) on both Nemesis and Nemesis Inferno but have found that keeping my legs completely out straight weirdly helps with the breathing. Samurai can affect my breathing if it spins quite a bit - itā€™s literally rides where my legs hang - am absolutely fine on everything else so I know it isnā€™t anxiety related as my GP suggested. Itā€™s kind of frustrating as it has only been an issue for the past 2 or so years
  20. This one was from back in March in the batching area for DBGT a group of 4 lads in front of us (complete pain in the butt all of them) were moaning about waiting - they had RAP so hadnt even waited the full 75ish minutes. When the people in the other batching area went through they then tried go through but were stopped - their response? ā€œTHATS RACISTā€ - I laughed out loud, as did the people who were nearby - they then started getting lippy with the poor ride host who moved them to the other batching area (meaning theyā€™d have to wait longer) - when we were called through it was like karma when their faces dropped
  21. When I first saw BounceZilla my immediate thought was ā€œdear God that looks awfulā€ - awful in that itā€™s at a theme park where you donā€™t expect bouncy castles. That said, as previously mentioned it is in a space which would otherwise be empty and although I highly doubt anyone would travel to Thorpe purely to go on it, it does give something extra other than rides and the pile of cack that is DBGT. Yes it seems popular and I would rather them have something like BounceZilla there than another bloody hang man challenge thing - itā€™s also something that kids can do who may not be tall enough for the larger rides so it gives them something else. But looking at the bigger picture, there are no new attractions (as in rides) this year, Logger confirmed as not returning but still rotting behind bamboo fencing and Slammer is still sat there SBNO. It doesnā€™t reflect well IMO. I just hope they donā€™t turn BounceZilla into a fright night maze with actors in it with chainsaws because frankly that would for sure kill me off!

    Samurai

Itā€™s bizarre - the same has happened to me where Iā€™ve gone on and itā€™s just meandered around not doing much but later on it will give a few decent flips and spins - I know it has different settings but unsure why it would go from one extreme to another ?ā€ā™‚ļø

    Samurai

Was watching Samurai today just after necking half a ton of pizza and pasta and the cycle looked so bad I think I could have easily gone on it and kept my lunch inside - weirdly the next cycle was more intense so Iā€™m glad I didnā€™t make that decision. Just thought it odd that there was a noticeable difference in the 2 cycles or I need to go to Specsavers
  24. Had no intention of going on this but got persuaded by @Marc - cheers by the way! People seemed to enjoy it but honestly it looks so daft having a big ol bouncy castle shoved in a theme park. Onto the thing itself - by the end of it I felt like I was a contestant on Gladiators - the inflatable stairs at the end were a joke - I got to the top and fell completely backwards off of it and had a mini break/breakdown. This thing is tiring - I felt like I was dying halfway through and I was struggling to breath and needed my asthma inhaler after. Then my legs were numb and both my niece and I felt faint - thankfully eating our weight in pizza pasta helped with that. I recently did a 2 hour 6 mile power walk and wasnā€™t as tired as I was on that bouncy hell hole! I wouldnā€™t do it again but it was kinda fun in between struggling to breath and younger kids seemed to love it. I guess itā€™s better than nothing ?
