  1. The more I ride TWD the more I enjoy it - think I’ve done it 6 or 7 times now so not that many.

Went on Tues with my niece and we rode it twice - the first time the group we were with ran down the corridor and the group behind were nowhere to be seen so we ended up having the train to ourselves.

After our second ride just as we were exiting I heard over the audio “X - ride on a wave of light and sound” which made me laugh a bit.

I like that you don’t have the queue inside - it used to get so hot in that building although in this heat at the moment, outside isn’t much better.

I think this is my preferred version of the coaster - I only ever rode X:/NWO once as it gave me horrific motion sickness and X I think I just rode it so many times it got boring - which could potentially happen with its current form.  Just a shame that younger ones who enjoyed X can no longer ride if they aren’t tall enough

  2. swarm bag room today - awful - massive queue to get bags back and the girl working there couldn’t have look less interested if she tried.  Also the queue for the actual ride was about 40 mins but the station was pretty empty.

Colossus - still slow dispatching - painfully so.  Stealth and Saw by far the best.

Ride availability today was good with only storm turd down for a long time - park wasn’t too busy (I’m guessing due to the footie and tennis).

I'm not speaking for all staff here but so many seem miserable - ok today it is flaming hot which I’m sure must be horrible to work in but only one person asked how our day was and that was a girl working in the Colossus shop

  3. I only ever watch the Euros and World Cup but in recent years kind of gone off of it (people like Rooney annoy me but I don’t know why?!).

Really got into the past couple of games and last night the amount of profanities that came out of my mouth was shocking - gutted we didn’t go through to the final but England did so well and I love Southgate as manager - such a gent.

I can only just about remember Italia ‘90 but the last time I was that into the footy was Euro 96.

Nothing against Croatia but I hope France win - I always back France once England get knocked out of the tournament so fingers crossed for them

As good as any other coaster really is. I would still say inferno, galatica or swarm are the best first upside down coasters.

Anyway, now that I have conquered my fear of upside down coasters, the next major thing is more intense flat rides that go upside down (not spinny flats which start to make me feel ill). Thus, as I'm planning to visit Chessington soon, what does Ramses Revenge feel like and does it make you feel ill?

Agree about galactic-air, Swarm or Inferno for good starting Coasters.

Rameses you’ll be fine on - I rode it a few years before properly conquering my fear of coasters - and before I discovered motion sickness tablets - so I’m pretty sure you won’t feel ill on it (I once was sick after I missed a dose of my anti sickness meds and rode Quantum ?).

Rameses is ok but you only get one cycle these days - that said when I went on it a couple of weeks ago we got a good few flips on it but the water fountains weren’t working and it was a scorching hot day.  It’s definitely one of the tamer upside down flats I’ve done and a good one to start with.  Much like Slammer (RIP) I think RR looks more intimidating than when you are actually on it

Is it worth getting quick pass for a trip in early September? Anyone got a rough idea of queue times for this time of year?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I went at the beginning of Sept last year (5th & 6th) and the longest queue was for Taron which was around the 60-90 min mark but we were staying in Matamba so had ERT at the end of both days.

Everything else was max 20 mins (if that) - we did use one of our fast passes from the hotel for Winjas only because we needed to use the passes

It's one thing for someone to be killed on a ride but another for the family to witness it and be trapped directly facing them. Looking at it in the least worse possible way, it is corporate manslaughter. This should be in a "Ride Negligence" topic as it's not accidental in my opinion. They knew the ride was unfit for operation and it was run with complete disregard for safety, someone was bound to be hurt there sooner or later.

Completely agree - can’t even begin to imagine witnessing people trapped on a ride where the outcome is likely to be fatal and being unable to do anything - horrific - even more so if it’s a loved one

  7. Ranty McRant incoming....

I think I’ve hit the anger stage of grief still mixed with a bit of denial - missing @Roodie so much and kinda struggling to accept that he’s gone.

Over the past few weeks my neighbour has been putting his music on between 10pm-midnight for a good few hours a time.  The other week he had it blaring out with his sodding door open.  I should probably say something but this is a bloke that knocked on my door a couple of years ago at midnight asking if I wanted to do cocaine with him(?!!).

Last year his flat was emptied of hundreds of empty lighter fluid cans which he’d been getting high from - 2 vans full of them.  It’s a wonder he’s not blown himself up.

I had to physically step over him last year on a boiling hot day because he’d decided to have a kip outside his flat along with booze and lighter fluid.  I know he’s had help in the past with whatever is the root of the problem and I overheard him talking to my neighbour the other night saying that he’s getting help which is great.

Last night I was so angry and in floods of tears - my neighbour put his music on at 9.30pm and was sat outside with the door open.  Not only was he playing depressing music loudly but he was inhaling lighter fluid - for over 2 hours.

One of my cats was out and she won’t come up the stairs if there is anyone around (my cats are really timid) - I ended up going outside at 11pm because I could see my cat sat at the bottom of the stairs - I walked past my neighbour who was off his tits just lounging on a chair with a sodding wireless speaker on his doormat.  He then came downstairs to ask if I was ok and I said I was looking for my cat - he knows from last year that she won’t come home if he’s outside and I’m not trying to be a pain but we had in the last few weeks a local cat that was targeted by the cat killer and the poor thing had his head cut off ?.

While I was talking to him I saw my cat go up the stairs so I went up to lock the cat flap - he continued to sniff his lighter fluid and listen to sh1te music until about midnight when he went into his flat and started slamming doors furiously and playing music loudly.

Right now he’s sat outside with music playing talking to another neighbour loudly and every so often he goes into his flat to slam doors ?.  I don’t mind people listening to music or talking but right now it’s like he’s going out of his way to piss people off with the door slamming.  The thing that naffs me off the most is that he is abusing aerosols very openly - if he wants to do that why go outside?  He obviously has mental health issues of which he has my sympathy but it’s so inconsiderate of other residents.  I’m feeling pretty intimidated and not safe here anymore. I’ve made a complaint and been told I’m not the only one to do so and today I’ve said that I need to move ASAP

One of my neighbours rang my doorbell twice in the past hour and I’ve not answered so I’m sat in my living room in complete silence and all I can hear is my other neighbour and his effing irritating laugh.  Really need a drink but having to settle with anxiety meds.

It might not seem like it from my post but I am understanding of mental health issues having lived with them for almost 20 years but I’m just getting to the end of my tether ?

  8. Thing is - they might not have broken anything or done any damage to property but it’s still trespassing and, had one of them got injured it would probably be the park that would be in trouble.  Climbing something like Stealth Is asking for trouble - one slip and bam! I just don’t understand the stupid things people will do for views on YouTube - that dude has a massive following, some of which could be easily influenced into attempting something similar

  9. @CharlieN so sorry for your loss - it’s so hard when a pet dies that it’s hard to explain to people who don’t have any.  Hoover is such a brilliant name for a cat and what a gorgeous boy he was.  A lot of people think cats are independent (which is true to an extent) but they are like family members.  My 2 cats are my fur babies (I call them my girls) and they’ve helped me get through some tough stuff.

I’ve also lost 2 cats - one was killed by a cat fight and the other had to be put to sleep - euthanasia is a hard decision to make but we do what is best for our pets even if it means having to let them go.

They are some great pics you have - when I lost my most recent cat I printed out pics of both cats I’ve lost and made a frame collage thing which helped and now they’re both on my wall (have lots of pics on my phone but it’s not the same as print outs).

    RIP Hoover

Heres my admittedly small collection, only buy rides Ive been on

    20180621_162444.jpg

Ah you have a Bubbleworks one! I had one years ago but lost it - sometimes they pop up on eBay and go for at least £30 ?.

Really like the look of tge new Chessie pins they have this year

  11. Reviving a slightly old topic here.  Someone should have warned me that pin badge collecting is so addictive ?.

At the moment I’m not massively into parks due to recent circumstances however @Roodie and I began pin badge collecting last year -and I’ve been carrying it on (though it’s hard getting just one of each instead of 2 ?).

So far I’ve only done Thorpe twice this year which has enabled me to get the recent pins and I ordered some from AT online shop.

I still need to get the new CWOA ones at some point.

I was wondering if Towers had new pins for Oblivion, Nemesis, Galactica, Rita or Smiler this year as there were none on the online shop - anyone know?

Also I have Infusion, Revolution, Valhalla, Big One, Avalanche, Big Dipper and W&G pins from BPB but wondering if they have released an Icon pin?

Anyhoo here’s a pic of my pin collection so far - as well as TP, AT, CWOA and BPB I also have a couple of pins from Phantasialand (Phanny logo and pins of each dragon minus one) plus some random pins and charity pins....I may need help ?

I’ve done 35 in total. I am a little B&M biased though. They’ve been my favourite manufacturer for years. Which 7 have you done?

35?!! If I had the money and wasn’t petrified of planes I’d love to ride every single B&M.  Never gonna happen so I just gawk at POVs

The ones I’ve done (in order of preference) are -

    1) Nemesis

    2) Black Mamba

    3) Oblivion

    4) Baron

    5) The Swarm

    6) Gactica

    7) Nemmy Inferno

So 3 inverts, one flyer, 2 dives and a wing.

The one I’ve been wanting to ride the most (since it pretty much first opened) is Incredible Hulk but I’d love to do a hyper aswell.  6 years ago I’d ridden none so I’m not doing too bad I guess

  13. Last July at MOS they were really strict with ID which I’m sure is the case for all Ministry nights.  I saw a bloke who was easily mid 40s get asked for his ID.  I was almost 37 when I went and got asked aswell (and I have wrinkles) ?

Its not worth taking the risk as I’d be very surprised if you get in (even if you look older than your age).  At the risk of sounding like an old fart, wait until you hit 18 then you’ll have no problems as long as you have ID
