So it looks like the Mouse has now (finally) closed indefinitely Very sad to hear this. I get the impression the park aren’t fully to blame on it’s closure as I’ve heard stories on the difficulty insuring the ride due to safety measures. Apparently Dipper, Grand National and Flyer are listed (with the Ark building and Flying Machines) but the Mouse isn’t.

According to Loopings the park’s joint suspended coaster De Vleermuis will be closing this month. Capacity and reliability are the main reasons for the closure with the ride mentioned to be sold to a park outside Europe. Seems a bit of shame to spite these but from things I’ve heard I’m not overly surprised. Never got to experience this. Was it any good?

Two potentially exciting additions to the Dutch park’s sounds great. I wonder if Toverland will get something new agsin? I don’t have 2020 vision.

Double Post (technically) but Loopings report of a new expansion area within the Efteling where development for new attractions will be brought in. Interestingly it mentions of a road being rerouted and the first attraction scheduled to open in 2020. Some rumours suggest a launch coaster of some kind or a hyper (which seems out of character).

Congrats to Inferno for winning the 2017 ride game in a topic more divisive than Brexit! Swarm is a definite second place and both coasters are deserving of the top two.

Nemesis Inferno (7) The Swarm (3) Inferno+ Swarm- Least Tidal made Top 5.

2018 for me was set in stone once, but now it’s somewhst up in the air. Uk wise Blackpool is a must for Icon and if all goes to plan, may finally make it to Lightwater Valley and Flamingo where the Ark convenant Of UK creds reside. Merlin lot are a given and Drayton and Paultons are not impossible either. For Europe, Europa Park is my top priority as another trip feels overdue and Tomb is yet to experience the wonders here. Fingers crossed Eurosat is still top notch. Rest of the trips are more of a free-for-all currently. May return to Liseberg for it’s new coaster, Toverland isn’t impossible and I can never rule out Disneyland Paris. Will see what happens. Was hoping Orlando would happen this year, however that looks highly unlikely now. However Cedar Point is a strong possibility later in the year.

The only way I can see this work for the sake of hardware and infrastructure is if they bring in VR (thus making it appropriate for more ages) and bringing back block brakes as far as throughput is concerned. I reserve further judgment until opening.

Blue is one of my favourite colours so therefore I like it. The logo looks looks alright though not necessarily remarkable. Less is more seems to be the trend nowadays. I’ve never really had a problem with Thorpe’s logo.

Mack is my favourite of the big five with B&M followed by Intamin then Vekoma snd then Gerstlauer last. There’s traits I generally love of all these companies. Mack’s Innovative attitude, B&M’s perfection, Intamin’s daring traits, Vekoma’s progression from rough to smooth and Gerstlauer’s versatility (and often better for smaller parks). Each manufacturer has made jewels and flops. Saw for me is probably my least favourite Gerstlauer. Think I need to do more non UK gersts! Anyway, back on topic! I find Colossus more uncomfortable than Furious Baco

The amount of details put into Symbolica is clearly phenomenal. from it’s large set pieces, trackless cars down to the hidden nooks and crannies hidden throughout. The building is beautiful too, even above. I found after each ride, I adored it even more. It’s one of my favourite dark rides by far and proves you don’t need a flashy brand IP or screens galore to make the perfect modern dark ride. In other news Looooooooopings are reporting of a ‘currently’ mixed decision regarding the future of the Bob ride. It is expected the ageing attraction will either receive an extensive refurbishment or be demolished for redevelopment.

I’m going to try reserve full judgment until opening, but it certainly looks a little pretty within the Towers grounds. The Wicker does look a little small but the rest looks fine.

I actually like Temple Del Fuego, the fire and effects are decent and I’d be more than happy if a UK park could get such a show ever. I think Mack are my favourite manufacturer and are now the most innovative of manufacturers, closely followed by Vekoma and Intamin. B&M are still very good, but haven’t really created anything groundbreaking since Thunderbird. Given I haven't ridden an RMC (yet) my opinions for RMC remain irrelevan. That ‘could’ change next year.

This thread has lacked controversy so I’m here to give it an overdue boost! 1/ Gruffalo is the best thing that’s happened to Chessington this millennium 2/ I actually like Furious Baco 3/ I didn’t enjoy Dragon Khan 4/ Port Aventura does the worst theme park food, ever! 5/ I have a very strong soft spot for Rumba Rapids 6/ The Haunting is better than Jenja Palace 7/ I’m slightly disappointed Phantasialand’s next development will be another coaster, because I think they are more in need of some modern dark rides. Especially when two are potentially being removed in the future. Still excited for Fly though. Merry Christmas.
