I understand that Thorpe do this to their rides every year. What I don't understand is why problems such as the height and judder still remain present when they obviously shouldn't be there, even after it's been "completely rebuilt" again.
-
It's a real shame that Vortex still hasn't been fixed and running properly for the 2014 season, as I really hoped Thorpe would fix the height and stutter problem it had last year. Considering other rides had difficulties today, I think Thorpe need to take a long good look at how all of their rides operate and look in presentation at some point and realise that instead of using their budget on a "new" ride/area in the park to gain higher gate numbers each year, they should spend it to get these rides running to their full potential and look more appealing to a guest, especially considering some of these rides are getting to a stage where it isn't even worth queuing more than 5 minutes for now. I'll give Thorpe another week to fix these problems, but honestly, I doubt they will be fixed anytime soon.
-
Forgive me, but where/what is the contact centre? Is it a number to call or a part of the website that I'm missing? I'd really love to go to this event. Sounds fantastic!

To THORPELAW: Yes, ever since Vortex opened this year, the ride seems to stutter/shake a little on the 1st couple of swings. This isn't supposed to happen and might be due to an issue with either the pendulum or motor. It isn't really noticeable unless you're used to how Vortex has run in the past.
-
Vortex to me doesn't need to be replaced with anything. Whilst it is 12 years old and starting to show it's age a bit, it's still a ride that is fun to go on (if you get to the top) and is one of the more "gentle" rides Thorpe has to offer. If Thorpe are aiming at families more in the future, despite the height restriction, Vortex along with Rush would be good rides to aim them towards. They're not too intense, just fun to ride. Although, Vortex could do with some TLC as some of the finer details around the ride are deteriorating (such as torn patterns on the back of the seats, worn seats and restraints with the blue tape on them and some more broken speakers in the queueline). Plus, Vortex has recently had a row of 4 seat restraints replaced with the older pink coloured ones. I'm sure these are temporary and will be painted to match the rest at the beginning of the next season, but it just looks a little odd. Also, I hope Thorpe will fix the stutter when it begins to swing too.

As mentioned earlier about Slammer having it's track changed due to the fact it takes longer to raise to the top and lower to the bottom, here's a recording I made of the extended track with added segments in-between Thorpe have made recently: http://www.mediafire.com/watch/yyykc4kto0e14az/Slammer_-_Fixed_Audio_%2B_Announcements.m4a (Apologies for the audio moving from one speaker to the other, as my phone has stereo mics in it!) The new and changed parts are at the following points: . Between 0:41 and 1:11 - Added music. . Between 2:42 and 3:11 - Added music. . From 3:12 onwards - Fixed safety announcements. Happy to see little adjustments like this being made!
-
I've noticed a few changes to the parks audio system so far today as well as some updates: 1) On Slammer, I've noticed that the music and its safety announcements have changed slightly. When the ride was in motion before, the track cut off mid-ride because Slammer now takes a lot longer to raise to the top. Now, Thorpe have extended the track by almost another minute by adding segments in between the raising and lowering parts, whilst the main track plays when the ride is being throttled. Also, when the ride used to end, it went "Your frame with Slammer has now come to an end. When the restraints have released, please leave your seats and exit--" and cut off from that point. Now, it continues with "--and exit to the far side". Its essentially the old and new ending announcements put together. Good to see they've fixed it finally! 2) X's dome speakers are really loud now. Before, their were played at a moderate level but its now loud and they produce a lot of bass! They could be turned up a little more, but for now, they're certainly a lot louder than what they were at the beginning of the year. Also, the dead sections of the indoor queue line for X have been fixed, including where the really loud one at the end of the corridor is. Plus, the zigzag section just before the station has the rides music playing in there now with a new speaker. (X also has a few new lighting changes near the station too.) 3) Vortex and Lost City's music are back again. However, Vortex was very quiet for some reason... 4) Tidal Wave's queue is now silent. 5) Saw's queuline speakers are STILL dead... 6) Nemesis Inferno has some new tropical forest sound effects in the main queueline with rain/water-like effects (behind the queue line shop). Also, its old theme music is playing at the entrance again. 7) The Noise is only playing at the entrance, bridge, dome and Neptune's Beach. (Keep it like this Thorpe!) 8 ) Rush is finally using its queue speakers at last for its music, however, they're a little quiet to hear. 9) Colossus, Lost City and Amity Cove are still high pitched. (Please sort it Thorpe.) Overall, happy to see Thorpe making these little changes, but there's still a few other parts of the park that still need work.
-
I'm currently on park right now and I don't appreciate Thorpe Park doing this with the exit of Saw, as it just feels as though they want you to exit through their shop. I know Colossus and Inferno do this already, but blocking the path to the rides drop not only messes with the rides exit, but also the queueline that can sometimes lead outside the entrance: Sent from my GT-I9505

Does this include Vortex and Lost City's ambiance music as well? Really hope it has returned like it did for a brief period in early April... I'm pretty sure the high pitched audio can be fixed because it was fixed around Tidal Wave and Canada Creek this year. It's probably just a case of Thorpe being bothered to actually fix it as they might not see it as a big issue at this moment. Either way, it shouldn't be there and should be fixed, especially after being there for over 1.5 years. Also, is Saw's queue line ambiance still dead silent?

After looking at past posts and various visits to Thorpe in 2012/2013, I have a theory as to why Lost City and Vortex have had their themed music occasionally swapped with The Noise at certain times of the year and it's to do with the new, "upgraded" audio system that they introduced back in early 2012. Ever since the beginning of 2012, it was apparent to a few of us that the general music park-wide was slightly high pitched in some areas and rides of the park. Most noticeably last year was Colossus, Lost City, Amity Cove, Canada Creek and the Chart Music. All of these areas played the music at a higher pitch and was left in this state for the entire year, including during Fright Nights where The Asylum's soundtrack was playing high pitched around the attraction and Canada Creek. Thankfully, Thorpe seemed to have fixed most of this problem with the park and the only places where it is still noticeable is Colossus and Lost City's ambience music. But because Lost City still hasn't been fixed with it's audio system, this has led to some other problems with the audio being played in that area. I'm unsure if this is affecting whether Lost City should be playing ambience or Chart Music, but I think the reason why it's now back to The Noise after Easter this year is because The Noise's playlist of songs was updated. Going back to 2012, the playlist for the Chart Music being played was essentially the same all-year round and didn't change, but because of the problems with the new audio system, that led to chart music "leaking" into Lost City and wasn't fixed by Thorpe Park at all throughout the year. At the beginning of 2013 for Annual Pass day, it still hadn't been fixed by Thorpe even though they had updated the playlist and called it "The Noise." Because of this, Thorpe might have realised soon into 2013 that the audio system around Lost City had issues and they fixed it by getting the area to play the normal ambience music again and was left this way until after the Easter half-term. After Easter however, Thorpe must have updated The Noise's playlist again, which has now led to Lost City playing chart music, because whilst I was at the park a couple of weeks ago, I noticed there were some new songs being played at the entrance and around Flying Fish that I hadn't heard before. I don't know if updating The Noise's playlist is causing Lost City to start playing Chart Music again, but this is the only thing I can think of causing this issue, other than Thorpe just simply hesitating between the 2 types of soundtrack being played on Vortex and Lost city. Either way, The Noise should never be played on rides and areas of the park, (other than the dome, entrance and Neptune's Beach), as it takes away from the whole guest experience. (Also, why did Thorpe get rid of the End of Day music?! I loved hearing it after a great day at the park.)
-
I do have both the "End of Day" music and even "Time Voyagers" as requested by EmilyLovesVortex, noob230 and anyone else who would like it. Download links for both are below. End of Day Music: http://www.mediafire.com/?o3h8o07co7vtjhk Time Voyagers: http://www.mediafire.com/?l0t0h1ovnqvq0ki (Also, I noticed that Vortex's floor lowering music has disappeared off Thorpe Park Mania's audio page. Why I don't know, but here it is in case anyone doesn't have it and would like it): http://www.mediafire.com/?1a2s73o9cwx7gx9

On park right now and have a few updates regarding the park music: - Colossus is still high pitched. - Rush's queue line speakers are still silent. - Saw's queue line speakers are still silent (been like that for 2 years now). - X has a dead zone in the queue line with no music. - Lost City is once again playing Chart Music. *sigh* - Vortex is yet again playing Chart Music, no awesome theme tune. The thing that I'm confused upon is the fact that in early April and late March, Vortex and Lost City were playing their usual theme music which we all thought "Oh, Thorpe Park have finally fixed it." But now that it's back to Chart Music, what is going on? Can they decide whether to have Chart or Themed music playing? When I visited on April 2nd, Vortex was playing its themed music and I was very happy that it was, since I hadn't heard it for at least 2 years, plus it suits the ride a whole lot better. But today, its gone again. Not happy one bit. I don't have a problem with The Noise being played at Thorpe, I really don't. What I do have a problem with is that it plays on the rides, especially ones like Vortex who have one of the best soundtracks Thorpe has to offer. Keep The Noise to the entrance, dome, bridge and Neptune's Beach. Leave Lost City and Vortex alone Thorpe!

I like Rameses Revenge. Although not being my favourite ride at Chessington, I always ride it every time I go because it offers me an extreme thrill that none of the other rides at Chessington seem to have currently. Just because 1 person doesn't like it doesn't automatically mean everyone dislikes it. I like Slammer and X for different reasons and whilst most people on this forum don't like Slammer for it's reliability and ride experience, I have no problem in saying that I enjoy it. I respect people's own opinions for rides like Slammer and RR, but what I don't respect is them assuming that only their opinion is valid and anything different from theirs is wrong. RR is a ride that to me still needs to be at Chessington because not only does it provide an experience for the more extreme market, but it's also there to introduce the bigger and more extreme rides to the younger audience who are still hesitant about riding those sorts or rides. My 10 year-old sister for instance a couple of years ago would refuse to go on almost every ride at Thorpe due to the shear size, intensity and speed of them. But as soon as she managed Quantum and RR last year, she loved them and because of that confidence that she had from enjoying the slightly more extreme rides, she moved up to Zodiac, then Vortex, then Rush and then everything else thanks to the variety and choice Thorpe/Chessington has to offer. Now, she rides everything at Thorpe except Detonator still (and I don't blame her frankly)! Plus, this argument about Rameses not being a "proper" thrill ride is just silly. Guests who visit Chessington, Alton and even Thorpe aren't going to judge from appearance whether this ride is classed as a thrill ride or a family ride from the manufacturers website are they? Just because the manufacturer thinks the ride is aimed at families doesn't mean everyone else who visits will think the same. In fact, I'd go as far to say that Quantum for instance could be classed as an extreme ride by some guests as it surprises a lot of people including myself, my friends and even my sister. Thorpe Park and some people I know class Rush as a thrill ride, despite on S&S's website it is classed as a "family ride". Detonator as another example is classed as an "extreme" on Thorpe's website (and rightly so because I find it a very extreme ride!), despite being classed as a "spectacular" ride on Fabrri's website. To put it simply - these classes of rides are there for the manufacturer and buyer, NOT the average guest. So please can we stop this arguing people? As it's ridiculous and there's no right or wrong way of looking at this. Thank you.

Honestly, after riding it on Tuesday, I can honestly say that I thought it was just great fun to ride. Even though yes, the changes weren't going to be mind-blowing, I do personally think that X is definitely better than what it was before. I’ve got to say, I did think that the light show was impressive to look at and despite it lighting up the whole of the pyramid, it honestly didn't bother me that much. It didn't take away from the general experience the ride offered. However, one thing that I think could be improved upon that I thought was a little disappointing was (as others have said) the volume of the music. Whilst the music playing sounds good to listen too, it did feel too quiet inside the pyramid and that to me is the main issue I have with X. Before I rode it, I didn't walk in with the mind of directly comparing it to what it was like before, because since it now goes forwards, it sort-of provides an almost completely new ride experience for guests. With this open-mind, I actually thought it was enjoyable to ride and whilst it does have plenty of room for improvement, its current state is good enough to me to say it's better than X:\ No Way Out. Plus, since X is now being targeted towards the younger audience, the light show and forwards experience are ideal if this is a type of "introduction" to the larger coasters Thorpe Park has to offer (alongside with Flying Fish). Overall, as a thrill seekers experience, it still doesn't seem that appropriate. But for the younger aged audience, it seems to be ideal for them and I'm really glad Thorpe is targeting this ride for them instead of us, since it adds to the family ride line-up Thorpe has to offer. X:\ No Way Out = 4/10 X = 7/10

Yep, both swings were being tested in the early morning, but once opened only 1 was running all day. No, it's the swing near the air gates that was closed all day and was having severe diffculties last morning and during last year.
-
After visiting yesterday, it was obvious to a lot of people who saw it being tested with both swings in the early morning that there is a big problem with it's 2nd swing. Whilst the other was working perfectly fine (in terms of speed, height and sync) the other was performing horribly. The 2nd swing didn't even reach 90 degrees at it's maximum height, instead, it only reached about 70 degrees instead, whilst the other swing was reaching about 100-110 degrees. Because of this, the testing sequences were horribly out of sync too. Whilst this isn't a new problem with Rush (as it was partially noticable last year) this is without doubt the lowest maximum swing angle I have ever seen on Rush. Since this problem wasn't solved last closed season and was performing terribly yesterday, I won't be surpirsed if Rush will mostly run on one swing for the next few months. (Also, why are the queueline speakers silent again when they worked fine last year? Wrong topic, but thought I'd point it out.)
-
Are all the speakers at the top of Detonator working properly now? Becuase when I went on AP day, they were still fairly quiet, but that might've been where I was sitting on the ride as it can be louder in some places than others. Can they be heard on every seat or just certain sides of the ride? (I was sitting facing towards Detonator's entrance last time earlier this month.) Back in Summer 2011, I remember the staff members having some fun with the riders that went up by playing a little game. One person was given a cup filled with water and they were to hold it still until they got to the top. Once they got up there, the staff would tell them to pass it around either clockwise or anti-clockwise to the person sitting next to them, 100ft in the air. The time up there before being dropped was diffrent every time, as sometimes it was passed 3 times and others about 20 times before the release. But, if a rider held the cup for more than 5 seconds or hesitated giving the cup to the next person, they would drop the riders and the person holding the cup of water would have the water splash all over them once they landed at the bottom. It was essentially "Hot Potato" but Detonator style!

When you say "Lost City is playing it's normal music" isn't that Colossus' old station music from 2006, or just general Chart Music? If it has changed back to Colossus' old station music (better known as Lost City's theme) fanstastic! Haven't heard it for quite a while until now! Also relating to Lost City, was Vortex playing it's own theme music? Or was it tied in with the rest of Lost City's music? Because on Annual Pass day, Vortex and Lost City were tied in with the Chart Music being played in the Dome, bridge, entrance and Neptune's Beach. And because from several visits last year and some in 2011, Vortex only played Lost City's music and not it's brilliant theme.
-
Unfortunately not. I went on it 5 times today on all sides of the ride and the speakers are still quiet and crackling slightly.
-
Also adding to the state of which Samurai is in, besides it twitching left and right several times every time it was parking, I noticed that when it parks, the seats on rows 5 and 6 are a LOT higher up than usual. When I went on it today, I had row 5 and the seats were at least 1 foot further up from the platform than last year. This is quite obvious for both guests and the staff members, as many people I saw were struggling to get into the seats, including myself. Maybe the angle of the platform is slightly steeper than usual? Or is it that the ride system/structure hasn't been calibrated (if that's the correct term) properly yet? Little bit annoyed that Samurai's original, piano loading theme has disappeared once again and replaced with the current one - "Your restraints will be released shortly..." which is repeated twice. To me is a little dull compared to the original one.
-
There were 3 tracks being used on Nemesis Inferno today: 1) Normal Music - What we all associate Nemesis' theme to be. 2) Dispatch Music - Used when a train leaves the station. 3) New Music - The track which was mostly only used in 2007. The entrance sign just plays jungle sound effects, nothing else. The main queueline (where the queue shop is) plays Inferno's normal music. The station whilst loading and unloading the trains plays the new music, which was used in 2007. And every time a train leaves the station, the old dispatch music is played.
-
They were still playing it in the queueline and ride area, it's just in the station where they played the newer 2007 version along with the dispatch theme which is great to hear once again!
-
After visiting today, the usual around the park-wide system: . Chart music at the entrance, bridge, Dome, Neptune's Beach and (unfortunately) Lost City and Vortex again. . High-pitch still hasn't been fixed around Colossus and Canada Creek (as JohnD said). Although, whilst hearing the chart music, there seemed to be speech between the tracks such as "This is Thorpe Park's music station" and "Book a night at the Crash Pad" similar to listening to the radio, which probably means this is now a permanent change for Lost City and possibly Vortex. Another thing I did notice with Lost City's chart music was it wasn't anywhere near as loud as last season, which became more bearable for a lot of guests in the queuelines. One thing that did confuse me about Vortex is that despite Rush, Quantum and Zodiac having their usual theme music being played whilst the ride was in motion, Vortex didn't have any of it's themed music or even ambiance being played anywhere on or around the ride, just it's normal chart music instead. Vortex to me has the best theme music out of all the rides in Lost City and it was a real shame to not hear it once again. Lastly, Quantum seemed to have some new speakers behind where the control cabin is, playing it's theme music whilst the ride was in motion, which was good since I haven't heard Quantum's music properly for a few years.
-
To those who are/were at Thorpe Park today, has the high-pitch music playback been fixed throughout the entire park?
-
I was... My family were first priority, then I did my one last. Oh well.
