Do you think they will do this on Sunday as we are planning to get there later on in the day?
-
I'll be visting the 'Resort' on Sunday, and hoping it won't be too bad. After visting last Saturday, I was thoroughly disappointed with the park and the way they managed everything. The mazes weren't even of a good standard like they were in preview night, the only mazes I can safely say that I enjoy this year which are decent are Cabin in the woods and the Blair Witch Project. Studio 13, MBV and saw alive were just executed very poorly, on preview night I thought studio 13 was a good maze, however after experiencing it again, it was really rushed and was just poor overall. The asylum was much better. I'm just worried about how fright nights will operate next year, the park is ridiculously busy over fright nights period and you can't go on a day when rides and mazes are under 90minutes. The park should operate an off peak week like the towers do, this would mean people could visit the park on a fairly empty day and would reduce the high volume of people crammed into the park in the half term week. It would also mean the park could have some actual Halloween theming as at the moment the park feels exactly the same as it does during summer nights. My other concern for next year is what mazes the park are going to operate with. The five which operate at the moment aren't enough to suck up the crowds. Not even mentioning most people will have now experienced the mazes, and if the same ones return next year, the demand for the event will seriously decrease. Studio 13 and MBV will also have to be moved if the planned development is to take place. I'm hoping that all the mazes return this year along with a couple of extra ones, as well as a few shows and things to do around the park. A Halloween show could take place in angry birds 4D, as this is in really low demand during the fright nights season. A couple of staged shows could take place in the dome and near tidal wave(where the stage is placed near the KFC). This would provide a good 10 horror experiences to enjoy throughout the park and would spread crowds much more easily. I fear for the park if they return with the same mazes next year, same amount of people in the queues for them, and same poor operations. The park needs to improve this event as the complaints are seriously rolling in to guest services and over social media.

They didn't actually reach capacity, they thought they were going to but they didn't as a whole load of people left at 3pm. The queue times were much more bearable on the Saturday with rides staying under 120mins. Source: SCB, read his post in 'Fright nights 2014.'

To be honest I wish I had never seen this in the first place... It's disgusting.
-
When you say give up, I think you mean they pass out or are not in a physical state to carry on. Mckamey has stated himself no matter how much people plead to escape, there is no escape unless they are not in a fit condition to carry on the experience. So basically, you either last the full 7 hours or you pass out or suffer a serious injury from the actors. No one has survived the full experience yet meaning that basically everyone who has tried, has come out with some sort of damage to them. I don't know why anyone would want to create such a disturbing attraction, it's not fun to experience nor is it fun to watch others in it.
-
I don't see why people would want to do this... I feel sick just watching it! It is a type of torture, not a haunt. It has literally gone to the extreme and to be honest I don't think it's long before it gets completely out of hand and gets shut down. Absolute disgusting, I would never even set foot near this place. 'ST – So just how physical is the show? Your videos show rough housing throughout and the aftermath survivor videos show a lot of bruising, black eyes etc' People come out of this physically abused. I don't understand what sick mind has created this and why actors are willing to torture people inside. The closest they can get to illegal abuse I would imagine, absolute disgusting. Just also read from the Independent that there are 24,000 people on the waiting list... Yes that's right, 24,000! And not one person has survived the full 7 hours yet, everyone so far has been taken out as they physically cannot survive any longer(passing out etc). Don't see why so many people want to take part as it really doesn't look like fun and I imagine its worse in person.

Thorpe isn't busy midweek, it's just that all the rides are on one train operation... It's clear they've decreased capacity after so many complaints. The queue times are still bad but they aren't as horrendous as they were on Saturday and Sunday.

Chessington Winter Trail - New For 2014
TPJames replied to MarkC's topic in Chessington World of Adventures
Seems very strange that chessington can't dig a tiny bit into their budget to open a couple of childrens rides. Seeing as the new show is in Africa this year, it would only be logical to open a couple of kids rides like the bouncers and toadies in order to satisfy the kids. Last year, bubbleworks and hocus pocus were open, so would be good if they actually opened a couple of rides this year. I'm not saying anything major, just a few to satisfy the kids. For example, hocus pocus, jungle bouncers and toadies. Seeing as these will be the areas open for the event, it would be nice if the park put in a little effort of opening something up, as when I visited a couple of years back it only took us a couple of hours to do the sealife and zoo, meaning we just rode bubbleworks a hell of a load of times. The park should be open from 10am-3pm however the amount the park are offering isn't enough to cover all of this time. A couple of rides would be a really nice touch like they have done in previous years. -
Max Wellington: 'Great, thanks for pushing a system which allows people to pay to skip queues at the expense of all the people who can't afford it. Fasttrack is a vile system.' about an hour ago Unfortunately fastrack works the way it works, those who can afford it and have more money to spend, get priority over guests who may be spending all their funds just to come to thorpe. It is a biased system, but it is the system thorpe have chosen to take. The worst thing about it though is that fastrack dramatically increases main queue waiting times, which unfortunately means that the people who are richer get a much better experience than those who can't afford it and don't choose to use it. Marc, at £5 per ride it is very hefty. Especially for the amount of passes they are selling. It should be limited down so there is a fair ratio of normal queue to fastracks. A ratio of 8:2 or roundabouts would be acceptabel(main queue:fastracks) instead of the 2:8 the park currently operates on, with the 2 being main queue and 8 being the fastrack.
-
Even those with fastrack are saying they have to wait over an hour to get in. At the high price thorpe charges, fastrack should be extremely extremely limited and should not be publicised saying it is needed for a good day. To be honest, it's not actually making anything quicker as those buying fastrack wait an hour to buy the fastrack ticket then another hour to get into the selected maze. Fastrack really shouldn't operate, however that's never going to happen. In reality, priority passes should be cut off and less fastracks should be sold.
-
Thorpe park are pushing fastrack sales over facebook as their 'guide to fright nights'. Totally going to stop the problem of overselling.
-
It's because thorpe want the extra money from fastrack sales. Would be great if you could go on off peak nights though, would mean the park could actually incorporate some real theming on park. Would love to see halloween decorations like alton towers do.A lot of people turn up for maze openings, my guess is the mazes will still go straight to 2hours when they open and rollercoasters will stay over an hour. Certainly seems emptier than Saturday however I expect it will get busy for the evening. When I visit later in the week, my friends plan to get to the park later so worried as I fear they will get turned down by the park. Also, just to note that turning down people will cause even MORE complaints. However, will mean less complaints inside the park about long queues. However, this will balance out meaning there will be the same amount of complaints anyway.

If anyone is going to Howloween this week, please film rameses revenge at night and upload it to youtube or something! I would love to see it
-
If you call thorpe they can move your ticket for a 'small fee' of £15 per ticket.
-
People on facebook have been waiting 60 to 90mins to get into guest services, let alone be dealt with their complaint. I'm pretty sure if you've had to wait that long, after a bad experience you only have two options: -Leave the park with your dignity. -Take the priority passes and hope you can save back the time you have lost. To be honest, either way thorpe are losing customers. The amount of people on facebook and twitter who have said they won't be returning ever again. There is a high bad reviews to good reviews ratio I think the park seriously needs to considering their marketing schemes as a whole. The park seems to want to grab your money, then chuck free stuff at you to hope you return and then spend more money, however knowing next time to buy fastracks to make your day better. The park make enough money as I see it, getting £25-£50 per customer and then £5 per ride on fastrack. It's easily going to total up and I don't see why thorpe don't set a limit. After all, if there was good customer satisfaction, people are more likely to return. Anyway, I think the park should really consider how they want to present themselves next year, I know Paramount park isn't built yet, but it's soon around the corner and has the potential to steal Merlin's guests if they aren't careful.
-
HOWEVER, read the tweet carefully. It says that fastrack CUTS your queueing time by 1/3. Meaning if the main queue was 60, you would wait 40. The twitter team never have a clue what they're saying anyway, just trying to get rid of the endless complaints. Anyway, 45mins in fastrack is not acceptable it's being way oversold, people on facebook have been waiting 60mins to buy fastrack then 90mins followed at guest services.
-
^^Yes unless the voucher excludes it. So many people pay the full price on the day anyway. The way thorpe see it, the more people, the more fastrack sold. The more people, the more money made. People on facebook have been waiting 60mins just to buy the fastrack passes. I doubt thorpe will change this as overall it's making them much much more money.
-
Yes, saw is currently open with a 120min queue. All rides except samurai and flying fish are operational.
-
Unsure, its currently 120mins so I would guess no however all coasters are above 90mins atm, so it could well be on two trains.
-
Stealth has reopened.
-
Over Facebook, I know its not a reliable source but they are telling all those who ask what rides will be closed, that samurai and flying fish will not be open on the day which the person is asking e.g thursday etc.
-
If you can make the sunday I would highly recommend that instead. Despite sunday 9th being the last day of the season, fright nights are over and Sundays generally tend to be the emptiest day of the weekend. On the Saturday I would expect coasters between 60-90mins and flat rides up to 30mins. On the sunday I would expect coasters up to 60mins and flats around 15mins. Of course other things like weather factor in as well, and it is the last weekend the park is open so it could be considerably busier or emptier. If you are going, expect long queues(especially) on the Saturday but as I said, in reality it shouldn't be too bad as most weekends tend to see coasters around 60mins max. As I said also, most people will go for fright nights so I really wouldnt expect it to be too bad, however the sunday will be considerably emptier than the saturday. Hope this helps anyway.

Thorpe have confirmed samurai is likely to be closed for the rest of the season. Shame as this does happen every year, I think the park need to invest in a ride which is suited for theme parks and will genuinely last. Samurai has been the worst reliability this season and has been one of the worse in the last few seasons. I think its high time that thorpe replace it as much as I like the ride, theres no use having a ride in a theme park which is down for the end of the season every single year.

Haven't ridden any of these except nemesis. Didn't even think it was very good tbh and prefer many of the other B&Ms like Shambhala, swarm, air and oblivion. I did enjoy baco myself though, wherever I sat. It just felt like there was something special about it which made me want to re-ride it again and again. I think I did Shambhala 20times and baco 10times in 4days. The Portaventura main hotel was really nice though. The rooms were of a high quality and the pool and surrounding area was really pretty. There was a few restaurants and bars dotted around and it was decorated with nice scenery and foliage. The breakfast was great as well and it directly accessed the parks. The other hotels are good as well I believe, obviously they don't link on directly(except gold river) however are of a good standard. I believe you can buy the unlimited express for €50 for your whole stay at any of the four hotels as well which is a great bargain.
