  1. Nemesis broke down today in the afternoon and stayed closed til the end of the day. People had to be evacuated, and train was still in the same place in the beginning of the lift when we left the park.
  2. Yep now it seems so! Been going up and down though during these past 2 days that I've been keeping an eye on it. Here's hoping it'll only improve from what it says now *fingers crossed* Thanks everyone for your replies, tickets booked for Thursday!
  3. Do you reckon there's much difference between Thursday and Friday this week? I've understood next week is off in schools, does that usually reflect to Friday before? We were planning on going on Thursday but Friday weather looks better...
  4. Was there something special (in the park or holidays etc wise) or why you reckon it was that busy? Kinda getting worried now about next Thursday...
  5. This is great news. My last ride on it last year was downright painful... and I'm not usually fussy about a bit of headbanging.
  6. Their wooden roller coaster is a beauty! I wouldn't say the park is worth a separate visit but if you're ever touring up in the North then worth dropping by. Apparently their karting track is really good as well.
  7. The prices are awful, but yeah, the rides still have queues so they can keep the prices high. There's plenty of rich tourists/locals who can treat themselves or their kids in the park and the prices keep on crawling higher and higher. They did drop some ride fees by a pound recently though. Still silly high, none the less! I saw one girl with a Winter Wonderland pass around her neck, she showed it at the ride gates and got in. Wonder what that was all about? She looked too young to work there. Probably something money can't buy... I had been looking forward to going to Air, but £7 made me cringe and return home without a go at it Returned 1,5 weeks later though and found out the price had gone down to £6. I was with a friend who's never been to a thrill ride so decided if she dared to come with me, I'd manage to live with that price. She loved the ride
  8. You know I'm very tempted by this suggestion now... the weather doesn't look *that* bad for Friday. I gotta consult the other person going
  9. I know right... of course I hope the park keeps on having guests and all but last time I went was busy summer time so was thinking of having a less busy visit now. We actually weighted Thursday vs Fright Nights, main aim to visit the rollercoasters, not fussed about the mazes... thinking Thursday will not be busy at all. Is this strike surprise news or have people seen it coming for days? People from further away might not be that eager to travel if short notice....
  10. Thanks, that's somewhat reassuring I got quite worried there for a bit!
  11. Anyone knows how widely the schools will be closed tomorrow? Just saw Thorpe Park's "School's out" offer. I was hoping for a quieter day due to it being Thursday but now I'm afraid all the kids in the area will rush to the park? :S
  12. They said Fright Nights are not counted as Special events this year, but if the voucher might exclude certain dates which should be checked. I'm confused though, one can't use vouchers online, right? Is there a risk of a Fright Night being booked full so if you turn up at the gates with your voucher you might be left out?
  13. Gonna go with my sister next week. She's never been to the park, really looking forward to the rollercoasters. We've been planning to go on Thursday 17th if the weather is half decent. Thinking it's probably not gonna be very busy so we'd get to ride each rollercoaster at least a couple of times. However now I began thinking about Sunday 20th, as I saw some comments about Fright Night not being that busy on Sundays. Not that interested in the mazes really, but would love to see the park in the dark, plus the extended opening hours. Reckon Thursday would still be the best then to get most out of the rollercoasters or does Fright Night atmosphere/darkness make it worth it even if there's longer queues? Would they be significantly longer?
  14. If you are ever visiting somewhere middle of Finland do take a small detour and visit this park and this coaster. It is brilliant&intense indeed, a bit of a pity really that it's in such a hard to get to place, it doesn't receive as many visitors as it deserves!
  15. A friend of mine from overseas is visiting me in June and I'd like to take her to Thorpe Park. However I'm not sure what day would be the best. Our options are Sunday 23rd June Monday 24th June Sunday is weekend, but I've heard people say it's often less busy than Saturday. Monday is a weekday and I guess some schools haven't yet finished their terms, but it might be busy with school trips? Any recommendations as to which day would be better? Or would it be maybe best to decide according to weather forecast(we don't mind a bit of rain, if it means smaller queues) Thanks for any help!
