  1. I feel like the odds on that aren't going to be great. Also on Thorpe's website, it says there will be 8 'scare attractions' (assuming this includes the screamplex cinema), including 2 new ones not yet announced. Further down though, it lists 9 scare attractions with 3 as to be announced (new fears 1-3). Feel like they haven't really proof read their website... or one of these 3 is going to be like that fanta thing last year.
  2. Might not be overly useful but Thorpe have said to me that they will release details of fastpass and group booking prices 'within the next few days'. So not sure if that'll involve any other announcements or if the maze fastpass will still be a mystery. Just seems odd that its September now and you can't yet buy a group ticket for October.
  3. ...have you tried the bus driver yet? I think his name was Barry.
  4. I asked the bus driver on the 950 and he said its returning. So excited.
  5. 12th I'm unsure, would much prefer the Sunday 13th. I believe a few others can't do the 12th either.
  6. The theme does sound pretty cool, hopefully its actually setting out to be scary rather than just a load of pirates going 'yo ho'. I do still have flashbacks of how awful 'the curse' was, but I reckon Tulleys will put more thought and effort in to this. It should also hopefully be a decent length!
  7. 'extreme' Mattymoo- agree that hessian is great for bags for life, not so much walls.
  8. Are you saying a poster or two isn't drumming up interest?!?! Shocking. lol. But yes from the sounds of it they are not pushing it much yet.
  9. Thursday I'm sure would be ideal. I usually go early on in the FN season on a Sunday and never had a problem with queuing. Depends how much hYpE good ol Thorpe drum up (from the non enthusiasts)
  10. New maze looks promising, though I hope it doesn't end up as a budget version of the chop shop... Considering that apparently the park hasn't had the best summer visitors wise, surely soon they should start drumming up business for fright nights. I've seen a lot of generic 'island like no other' advertising on tv and even at Cannon Street station, so I wonder if they'll keep this up for Fright Nights. Although personally less people = less queues haha.
  11. The staines massiv that seem to always be there (typically age 12-13). Where are their parents... People who smoke in queue lines, seems a regular thing. Younguns at fright nights who go overboard with being fake scared (e.g. screaming at nothing). Once in Se7en the actor had to come out of character to tell a 'lad' group of young teenagers in our group to calm down, didn't really add to our scare experience... Not really an annoyance but people who, when the ride arrives back to the station, don't undo the seatbelt so as the restraint lifts they are left stuck for a bit. There's always one. Anyone who likes DBGT
  12. Darren Brown sounds better, I like Darren. Then Thorpe wouldn't have to had to paid Derren all that cash... free IP! The spare money could have been spent on fright nights or a new coaster....
  13. Top 10 coasters (as a side note, my park count is pretty poor, its mainly UK parks, lots of DLP and a couple of parks in Japan. I’m sure this will change after I go to Asterix park in October, Orlando next year, and Europa park soon… Stealth (Thorpe Park) Nemesis (Alton Towers) Do-Dodonpa (Fuji-Q Highland) Wicker man (Alton Towers) Rock’n’Rollercoaster (DLP) Space mountain (DLP) Rita (Alton Towers) Swarm (Thorpe Park) The Smiler (Alton Towers) Takabisha (Fuji-Q Highland) Top 5 parks Disneysea (got to be one of the prettiest parks out there) Disneyland Paris (sensing a theme here…?) Alton towers Thorpe Park Fuji-Q Highland (great rides but literally no cohesive theming at all, reminded me a bit of a fairground) Top 3 theme-park soundtracks Can the Pirates of the Caribbean music go here? It is now. WWTP radio at Thorpe, both in and outside of fright nights. Disneyland Paris main street music.
  14. Definitely agree to put asylum/hellgate etc in the same category as e.g. dead creek woods is just silly. I guess bognor is cheap and cheerful? lol.
  15. make sure we all light a candle 🕯️ for all big top fans who think it's coming back this year.
  16. I've been on DBGT at least 3 or 4 times now at various points in its life. Of course there is some novelty the first time. One time, we all got on the first train, to find only one headset on the whole carriage was working. They then led us out some random exit through what looked like a store room with random stuff piled up, to then have to join the fastpass queue (?). Honestly the organisation was tragic. Oh and of course we had to watch the pre show again... yay. Another time we had the shop scare which was fun and unexpected for me, and when I went again with different friends I was looking forward to them jumping. Unfortunately, no actor! This was early on in halloween season but it was a weekend in fright nights... so its pretty poor. Honestly I don't know what the future holds for this 'ride'. maybe changing the middle section and the VRs, or an entirely new story line, but its one of those that nobody who's done it before will be excited to come back to the park for it.
  17. I also agree that Maths is a very transferable degree to have (also possibly biased there), and you have lots of options careers wise. You can go into all sorts like finance, technology, research/academia, and physics/engineering (I know of someone who works for mclaren who did a Maths BSc). Of course degree level maths does get a lot harder than A-Level, but its much more fun and varied as well. Good luck!
  18. Bit late but thought I'd say I've now passed all my actuarial exams . Hope to never do another exam again...
  19. I personally feel the most popular kid has to be The Passing...or perhaps it will be DBGT extreme: revenge of the deluxe edition. In all seriousness I do hope they have this rumored chainsaw themed maze with some indoor sections/theming/clear thought behind it- rather than just a narrow path with tarp covered fences, where you can hear and see the intros for Blair Witch/Platform 15, is that too much to ask Thorpe?
  20. Agree with the above that the colony was too long and there were long stretches where nothing happened. I also wasn't a fan of the large group sizes in the cellar for example, seemed to be too many people in one group. Been a couple of years since I've gone, but I'm looking forward to the new maze. The theming in most of the mazes at Tulley's is miles better than at Thorpe (other than Thorpe's LN) so keen to know what the new maze will be about.
  21. Has anyone been to the park during halloween season? I'm planning on going this year on the way to DLP, and it does seem like they have a few scare attractions according to the website, as well as late night opening on certain nights, but I'm not 100% sure what they are like - so would be keen to hear any thoughts on whether they are worth doing or not. If nobody here has been at that time of year, I'll report back how I get on
  22. Few details about the 2019 Halloween season: September 28th to November 3rd 2019 The Halloween season at Disneyland Paris will give guests plenty of frights and laughs as they enjoy the unique atmosphere at Disneyland® Paris, with a new show and updated attractions. This year, Disney Villains taking over Disneyland Paris will be joined by Ursula, the wicked sea witch. Mickey and Friends will be there, too: there’ll be a hint of evil about them too for guests who dare to brave them. Disney Villains in a new show Disney Villains always have a few surprises in store for guests in the Halloween season, and this year they will be joined in a new show by Ursula, the devilish sea witch. Autumn-style celebration with Mickey and Friends Mickey and Minnie will be up to their mischievous tricks at Disneyland Paris, taking part in the “Mickey’s Halloween Party” Halloween cavalcade with Donald, his nephews Riri, Fifi and Loulou, Daisy, the Three Little Pigs and plenty more Characters. Guests can see the “Mickey’s Illusion Manor” again, plus Mélanie Ravenswood in her wedding dress and the zombies from Phantom Manor. Exclusive meet and greets with Disney Characters in Halloween costumes Maleficent will take possession of the Sleeping Beauty Castle Courtyard, receiving the bravest guests for a terrifying meet and greet. Her dragon-like wall of thorns will reach as far as the Sleeping Beauty Castle Theatre. Lots of Disney characters will be wearing their best Halloween costumes to pose for photos with guests, who can meet Minnie, Stitch and Max (Dingo’s son) in their new costumes and the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. Attractions now even more scary Guests who like a bit of a fright can put their courage to the test at Phantom Manor: the iconic attraction at Disneyland Paris has re-opened after the biggest renovation project in its history, with plenty of surprises in store for guests on a mysterious and fascinating tour, and ghosts and spirits at every turn. Fans of thrills and spills will enjoy the new version of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™, the top attraction at Walt Disney Studios® and a scene of breath-taking drama. Immersive sets for that Halloween feeling The spirit of Halloween will take hold of Disneyland Paris, from Main Street, U.S.A.® to Sleeping Beauty Castle. Pumpkins and ghosts will be around to amuse guests in a wickedly colourful atmosphere to suit the season. It appears that the tower of terror has been updated so that the drop sequence is now random, so each ride will be different to the previous. This seems like a great idea that will add to the suspense. Regarding Ursula, I’m not sure how her show will work as she’s usually an animatronic rather than an actor so will be interesting. I would have liked some changes/updates to the parade held during the day rather than repeating last years.

    2019 Season

The dome looks so dull and bare without the Atlantis theming... strange choice! I know it’s being done in stages but I liked the lost city/underwater theme personally
  24. I don’t think there’s a topic on this park yet. This may well be the most beautiful theme park out there! The theming is just next level, it’s such a pretty park I am very glad I took the day to go. That said you probably don’t need more than a day. I hear they are expanding the park in 2022 with a new ‘port’, themed on tangled, frozen and Peter Pan, so that should help with the crowding. Some of the food options were very memorable including garlic shrimp popcorn and potato churros. Journey to the centre of the earth was a fun ride, and both Indiana Jones rides were quite dull, so it will be interesting to hear what rides the new port will have! Great excuse to go back ?
