The Exciting Future of Shanghai Disneyland New Zootopia land looks amazing!

Interesting vid about Six Flags, and the endangered amusement park. Six Flags & The Endangered Amusement Park Was thinking that Thorpe Park was on the ball back in 2008 for the SAW IP, seeing the future trend of IP in parks. Saying that, Six Flags did have WB IP in the parks in the early 2000's. I suppose parks in the UK don't directly compete with the likes of Disney/Universal, whereas in the States Six Flags kind of do.

Awesome, loved the Colossus one back in the day!

Which major theme park have you gone the longest without visiting?
MattyB replied to Matt N's topic in General Discussion
I would say the Florida parks. Haven't been since 2009. Would love to get back out there at some point as there has been many additions since! -
Interesting trip vid from Coaster Studios. Coastin' Thru Europe Episode Two: THORPE PARK I love seeing how international tourists view/experience our parks.

Not sure tbh. They might refresh as part of the Exodus project.
-
Yeah agreed. In an ideal world it would have been done already. I know when I was working at the park last year they were looking at refurbing the toilets, hopefully they will include as part of Exodus. They definitely need more food outlets in that area , or a bigger capacity BK. I suppose the BBQ is part of that area which helps, but they have lost the hot dog stand that used to be by Rocky.
-
Yeah what Josh said. Should imagine it would be quite expensive and quite a project to remove Slammer. Its a great space for a new flat though. If it were me I would be planning to develop that space after Exodus opens so that there is a supporting ride for the area. Also I would probably look at expanding BK2 as I can imagine that's going to be rammed next year

Project Horizon - New “indoor attraction” being built in Coaster Corner
MattyB replied to Matt N's topic in Alton Towers
https://yullbe.com/alton-towers/?lang=en - on the YULLBE website. Looks like its opening end of this month. Looks like a free roaming VR attraction -
Makes sense from a marketing perspective. What's shocked me is how many channels there are now that are covering theme park content. I remember it used to be mainly Coasterforce and Theme Park Review. I also remember the old UK sites Coaster Kingdom and Rideas - think John Wardley used to post on Rideas.

Visited the park yesterday. Last time I was there was around 2009/2010, and wow! What a lovely park. Park General - Entrance well planned, looks amazing. Restaurant was closed all day, but I could see it is a large capacity restaurant. Exit shop is impressive, kind of reminded me of the Disney shop outside Disney Paris (theming hanging off the ceiling etc). Park very clean and well presented. Immaculate landscaping. Queue times averaged around 10-15 mins. Flight of the Pterosaur - very impressed with this. This is my first new gen Vekoma coaster, and I loved the openness of the restraints. Layout is fun, final helix is awesome. Theming well done. Impressive exit shop Velociraptor - also very impressed with this. Surprisingly fast, fun layout. Showing a bit of wear and tear on the track. The whole Lost Kingdom area was very impressive. I could see the Jurassic Park influence, however it didn't feel like a cheap knockoff. Cobra - showing its age, quite a rough ride. Not sure if this ride should have a long term future at the park. Storm Chaser - probably one of my favourite coasters in the UK at the moment. Fun, fast and the right amount of intensity. Immaculate theming. The Tornado Springs area was amazing. I would say comparable to Disney level theming (Disney around 10 years ago). Rio Grande Train Ride - love me a train ride! Decent ride length, however towards the end it seems to go into a backstage area which didn't look great. Peppa Pig World - area was rammed. Excellent theming, I can see this probably prints the park a lot of money! We ate at the Route 83 Diner. Food was great quality and excellent VFM. I didn't need to eat again all day! I would say the self service order point was a bit sluggish, but all in all an excellent dining experience. Future - I think the park definitely needs a big water ride (water coaster, rapids or new log flume), and a dark ride (haunted or fantasy/whimsical). Maybe a new coaster. I could see an Intamin/Mack mega lite working really well here. Or a woodie. Or one of the new RMC family coasters. Also, a Peppa Pig hotel would probably work very well. All the staff I came across were super helpful and friendly, and it looked like they were really enjoying their work. All in all, a fantastic day out!

I would love them to do a version of the Alien Encounter experience that used to be at Magic Kingdom (a "theatre in the round" attraction). I heard it was quite extreme, thus Disney had to eventually remove it. I rode Stich's Great Escape and whilst this got a lot of flack as it was nowhere near the level of its predecessor, I could see (and hear lol) the potential. Maybe they could split the building in two, one half as the theatre, the other half as a walkthrough/Fright Nights maze.

Had a random thought the other day about this. Was thinking wouldn't it be cool if they could somehow reconfigure the station to allow for the new flying trains from Vekoma? Also replace the chain lifts with launched lifts. Barrel roll after the tunnel exit. Only potential downside would be a height restriction increase - think FLY is 1.4m?

Tokyo DisneySea's Next Level 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea Ride Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea at Tokyo DisneySea is incredible. Located within the park's iconic ‘Mysterious Island’, and despite sharing a name with other Disney rides around the world, this version is so much more than what came before it… - ReviewTyme Somehow I completely missed this ride when I was fortunate enough to visit a couple of years ago!

The Marvel Attraction You Never Got To Experience - Dimensions Of Danger In 2017 Hong Kong Disneyland opened one of the most unique and entertaining Marvel attractions of all time, but it was only open for a few months and most people have never heard of it. - ReviewTyme

Yeah not sure. The mechanic in the video was saying that its Intamins service department and the fact that Intamin are a lot more protective over their designs. Interestingly B&M seemed to be quite open to the onsite mechanics being able to engineer certain parts themselves (and telling them how to do it). Think this is more for rides that are a lot older and parts aren't available any more.

Manufactures Ride mechanics love and hate Interesting video by a ride mechanic on their favourite and least favourite ride manufactures to work with. Favourite - B&M, Vekoma, Gerstlauer, GCI Least favourite - Zamperla, Intamin, Larson, Skyline, Undecided - Premier

Is this their way of telling us they have lost the Colossus track and its currently cursed?...
-
Just to add to this. The park held a competition for cast members to name Colossus. I believe this was after the project had started. I ended up working with the guy that won the competition!
