Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Cal in HyperiaI saw somewhere that Mack were on park having a look at it and will tomorrow while the park is closed, planned to be back on 2 Thursday. Not sure how much truth is in that though.

Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Benin in Universal Studios Great BritainDepends. Given most will work in and around Midlands, you'd have to move closer to Bedford, and would the wages be better or as good as anywhere you could get nearby?
Universal have their own creative team. They don't need the minds behind Hyperia.

It's happening!

Coaster_Contrarian reacted to MattyMoo in HyperiaWhat @Inferno said is spot on - Hyperia rapidly becomes known to the public as "the ride that's never open" - and then attendance falls and doesn't hit the expected returns Vs the investment, and then you end up waiting for another 12 years for the next big coaster again. Ok maybe that's an exaggeration, I think Dezza Brown the original white elephant didn't help there, but you get my point. As I said before, it really shouldn't be this much hassle getting on a sodding rollercoaster. First world problems and all that I know -June 11th and 12th 2024 is still a fresh wound 😛

Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Inferno in HyperiaOh…. It stalled this morning?
Come on now. Getting a bit embarrassing.
I’ve worked for companies who have made legal ultimatums with suppliers for reputational damage, for lesser things than this.
Management asking staff to try to stop photos being taken is evidence that they are trying desperately to protect their brand. It can’t go on like this for much longer. I’d say really it’s reached the point that it’s become too big an issue to tolerate.
I agree with Pap (!) - ultimately Merlin have been sold a very expensive product that just isn’t fit for purpose. I really hope this is actively being worked on urgently, because theme parks can’t really afford cock ups these days. Big investments have to hit the mark and bring in the money reliably and consistently. Being closed or on half capacity regularly, with negative publicity every few days, is unacceptable for such a huge investment.
I hope Mack are taking responsibility and working on a solution…. If not I can’t imagine Merlin to be a company who will play nice if they have been screwed.

Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Benin in HyperiaYou know things are bad when the joke account is being serious.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Cal in HyperiaWell it didn't last very long, queue has been cleared.
What on earth did they do to the lift hill over closed season... 🤣
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to MattyMoo in HyperiaIt really shouldn't be this difficult and stressful, should it?!
-
Coaster_Contrarian got a reaction from Inferno in HyperiaHyperia's having a fairly bad opening day.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Benin in HyperiaDepends who you ask.
My first visit this season was an absolute disaster. Especially when they trotted out the old "well you have a MAP" line.
However Towers aren't in my good books now. So I guess overall the race to be the least worst continues.

Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Coaster in HyperiaThe point; to prevent, or vastly reduce the frequency of, a situation where the most popular coaster in the park is running one train during one of the busiest periods of the year. Having a 4 hour main queue and 60 min Fastrack queue on one train is ridiculous.
With the maintenance team being stretched; this is also a Merlin/industry issue, which the company needs to resolve through better terms to attract more employees.
I don’t think we should accept bare minimum because of another problem that is within the company's power to resolve - they are just choosing not to.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Coaster in HyperiaThorpe really should have bought three trains to ensure that when one is unavailable, they still have two serviceable ones.
They cheaped out and guest experience has taken a massive hit during one of their busiest periods; but it's okay, because they've used it as an opportunity to sell more Fastrack. And so continues the mediocrity.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to MattyMoo in HyperiaSelling Fasttrack when the queue is 240 minutes is just turning a problem into an even bigger problem.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Benin in HyperiaFinally been on it.
Area looks crap. Station is a weird attempt at Icon for some reason.
It's a great ride until the trims. All that momentum just thrown in the bin, leaving you wanting the rest of the layout rather than awkward corner.
Best ride on park? Sure.
Best ride ever? Not even close.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to planenut in HyperiaAs an ERT it was disappointing, as a ride it is brilliant. It's okay for me as I live locally but many members travelled a long way and had paid.
What adds to the annoyance is how late the ride opened to the general public with staff members re-riding the "test" runs; not tactful.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Cal in HyperiaFrom what I've seen on Twitter, organizers were told very last minute it would be on 1 train, but who knows.
Seems like a very strange decision. People had paid good money and I imagine it'll put people off organizing these type of events at Thorpe in the future.
There excuse of needing it ready for the next day is nonsense when it ran till 10pm press night and opening day, and will likely run on 2 trains till 9pm daily during fright nights. They could've ran it on 2 if they wanted to/planned it properly.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to planenut in HyperiaFor me yesterday, I found it extremely frustrating that they chose to remove a train at the beginning and during the ERS, then still sent an empty test train. Sadly this is similar to another certain English park that gradually reduces the amount of available seats by placing the sandbags on board in preparation for the following mornings tests.
When it comes to throughput I cannot see TP being bothered as they have a limited capacity, and any people in the park have already paid, they don't have to worry.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Cal in HyperiaAnother topic, the park must surely be aware that the break run is seriously impacting throughputs at the moment. No matter how hard they work in the station, I don't think its possible to get higher than around 800. If the train got into the station quicker I imagine they'd easily be hitting 1000+. Do we think this will be sorted in closed season or it'll be left how it is?
I'd be surprised if this wasn't changed especially with the parks recent focus on throughputs.
At the moment, the queue moves well. But when Fasttrack increases to normal levels and RAP is changed from 1 per visit its a bit concerning how well it'll cope.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to JoshC. in HyperiaOne train on ERT is not ideal. Wonder if organisers are aware they're getting 1 train ops or not. It also begs a question: If they need to start train maintenance that early they can't run 2 trains for an ERT session, how will they cope during Fright Nights?
I went today and got 4 rides by 2pm, which included a closure due to a guest action, as well as weather delays because of heavy rain / threat of electrical storm.

Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Benin in The SwarmUsername checks out.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Benin in HyperiaThey'll be buggered royally if they've gotta open it on one train.
Better than shut but with all the big promotion could go down the pan.
-
Coaster_Contrarian reacted to Marc in HyperiaPlenty of people are complaining at the lack of updates on TT2 - in other words people will complaining regardless! Hopefully will open in next few days
