I've *heard* that they may not be replacing the cable - just splicing part of it. However, if this is what they end up doing or not, is yet to be seen..
  2. Rumour to the point that it's one of the terms in the Annual Pass - No discount can be obtained at subway, even though no merlin outlet has one .Wonder what happened with that.. and if we ever do eventually see it appear..
  3. Thirteen has been running without problems for a couple of weeks now
  4. Taking them down, due to end of that marketing time I think. They were there over a month.. if they weren't to do with thorpe, they would've been removed that day or very shortly after... not even thorpe staff are that bad at removing huge things like those posters

My worst dreams are of work, and having stressful (but usually totally inplausible) dreams about working on certain positions or whatever. My best dreams often involve visiting parks of kinds, and of my closest friends. Mmmm, dreams.

I voted "she alright", as I can imagine a jamaican saying that.I don't understand how people think she's even remotely attractive, but then again.. she's totally not my type. She reminds me of Stephanie (from lazytown) with pink hair.
  7. It is utter balls though. Seriously, if you go in thinking it's like hex, you'll want to kill yourself.Go in there, and think you're just sitting on a park bench, and it might seem slightly good. Actually, no it won't.It's awful, and I mean seriously awful, but you have to do it if not done before.
  8. They've got four exits from the concert - one of which goes through the valley.Ride close was at 6pm today, so good luck to them trying to ride anything after

Gearbox on a motor - same problem
  10. Can't believe 1.4m people go to flamingoland - I wonder how many people out of that actually enjoy visiting the place. It'll be interesting to see the drop this year relative to last years attendance though. But it is a good set of figures for the UK!

Thursday - Monday. That's 5 days out of action. Last year, ripsaws motors blew about 4 or 5 times over the entire season. Longest it took them was 4 days - and that was cos their spare was only put on 2 weeks previously
  12. They're not selling them basically.Go on a different sunday?
  13. Or maybe it is. Maybe they forgot to order any track, and it's now delayed it by so many months or whatever

It'd be difficult to change towers from number one, and most popular park, to the worst rated.. in a space of 4 seasons.. ..Just look how blackpool are run, or merlins ever confusing entrance prices..
  15. COAAARRR BETH!

I had none of these problems... maybe I was just a decent learner driver? either that, or the roads were always dead or too busy for stupid people to do things listed above.
  17. Wow, would've thought thorpe was at least slightly busy. Towers is getting 40min queues on most major rides every single day at the moment. Gah!
  18. What about the awful jessie costume? Why don't they ever make them to look like what they look like in films etc?
  19. Fred replied to Mark9's topic in General Discussion
I'd imagine if its down to whether you can actually see the ride in action, doing what it does best, as to if the queue is decent or not.Nemesis queue is good in some ways, in that you can always watch it. Thirteens queue, airs queue, furys queue, frustrates the hell out of me.. and that's probably due to lack of something to constantly watch/get excited about.

I am a big fan of merlin, but I disagree about merlin making "extremely successful decisions".The only thing on that scale is their mega expansion of their midway brand, to have a constant and consistant income, and a sound base to expand.Theme park wise, they aint done anything risky or amazing to have extreme success from them.

Higher the throughput, the shorter the queue, the more guests experience the ride. Leads to more people experiencing that ride, and then able to experience more rides in a day. It also means you don't have a huge chunk of people stuck in a queue not spending money/totally enjoying themselves.Tbh, throughputs are considered more and more now. Especially in a culture which is becoming less and less tolerant of queues.

    Actual win. What you do?
  23. Yeah, queue to the entrance with only area 3 open is only 20mins. And air is pretty much always over 20mins.
  24. I'd say towers scarefest. I think the atmosphere is just right. The mazes are better than Thorpe imo, as they're better thought out, they're not constant scare-scare-scare bright lights trying to kill you bullcottage cheese tastes very nice, they generally have a storyline or a background and it's more immersive, which is worth their extra costs. And terror of the towers lasting roughly 13mins is a good run for your money reallyI also think towers does more for the kids, yeah they've got the trick or treat, but the music is better suited to family, and they seemingly put more effort than chessington. I lov chessingtons soundtrack, but to play it everywhere? Bit much. And they've done that before with the old amity SFX playing everywhere in previous two years.Plus.. the park overall looks better. The park looks better than the others in the daytime, but come nighttime. Coar. Just look at these to see how amazing the place looked last year. Plus, apart from literally 3 days last year, the park was no busier than a standard weekend - or even dead (first week being empty). Decent.

What I also don't understand is the varying speed between the two rides at the merlin parks. You could say Chessie is tailored to a younger audience - but these kids of same age and height end up experiencing faster, scarier, thrills at the other park. So why not have it the same? .Doesn't just go for this - Frog Hopper v Berry Bouncers is another one. Frog Hopper is actually an amazing ride and flings you out of your seat! Yet the kids absolutely love it!
