I love Matt Smith's Doctor. What I'm going to do is try and avoid comparing him to Tennant and the other nine Doctors. Smith is his own Doctor, I love his mannerisms, the way he seems to avoid eye contact with others, his simmering anger rather then bluster. I have enjoyed this series so far although I don't think Amy Pond is that good. Karen Gillan is fine as the character, just Amy Pond doesn't seem to have a history or do anything relevant.

Whats wrong with Tidal Wave? It's a great ride and the size of the wave is memorable. Visually, it's very interesting.

What you really have to remember is that this is the first series for everyone on that team (with the exception of some deisgners and Murray Gold). It's as much of a reboot as the first series was with Christopher Ecclestone and Billie Piper. Watch over that series again, you can see a team learning the ropes, the rules of Doctor Who. Even Tennant didn't find "his Doctor" until Tooth and Claw, the fourth episode of that seasons recording block.I reckon Matt Smith is a fantastic Doctor though, he has this amazing little mannerisms and eccentricities that make me believe he is the same as the first four Doctors from the classic series.Last nights ep was fun to although my only issue is why do they have to make everyone stupid to make a situation shocking.

Totally agree, I think the weeping angels are terrifying. I wonder if this story will be better then Blink though, Blink's a masterclass in storytelling afterall.

Rygr, the old Bubbleworks was timeless. I mean it lasted 15 years but every joke, every animatronic, every apart of the factory if you like was a part of the journey and it all came together into the wonderful fountain finale. The new one, well I hate it more then any other ride in the UK and that is really saying something because I always try and see the best in every ride before endlessly attacking. For me there is absolutely nothing complimentary about the ride and instead of simply tidying up the old Bubbleworks they just ripped out every animatronic, added duck sounds everywhere, destroyed the music in the entire ride and tried to make every joke a play on Ducks. It's not even funny the first time either.I'm glad some people see enjoyment in it but for me they may as well have pissed all over my childhood and blown up my car. And my bombed car would look more interesting then the disaster that is Imperial Leather Bubbleworks. I welcome any retheme, any kind of change, anything that gets rid of this travesty of a ride.

You calling me less intelligent Electricbill Dummiguy, you may know that but going on open day, not followed construction, klnew nothing about the ride, how am I supposed to know what the hecks going on if the story isn't explained anywhere.
-
Well you see the thing with Th13teen is I personally don't think anything is explained. I went in there, blind as a bat and I honestly thought that it hadn't been finished yet and all the construction beams around the ride was a building site. I mean theres things dotted around such as trees enveloping people and cars being destroyed but it doesn't all add up to a final product. It doesn't help that the ride itself is one half unthemed journey through open space, the other a themed masterpiece that is genuinely exciting. It doesn't have that extra element that rides like Tomb Blaster, Nemesis and Hex have to really finish the product.

I first rode Vampire in 1999 and this has always got to me. People always say Chessington is well themed, Chessington is reliable, Chessington is amazing. And yet here is a ride that makes an even greater sin then Inferno, it's front end is pure corregated steel, Vampire wasn't reliable at all, hence its big retheme. I mean even as an 11 year old kid I thought "why is this themed to a castle when its just a steel shed outside"
-
I got a job at Waitrose. Yeah it's the same company as John Lewis but Waitrose is fantastic. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful and the last week has been fantastic.
-
Am thinking of going Chessington in two weeks, anyone decent still work there?
-
Totally agree with Keith. Vampire just needs safety announcements and perhaps some kind of dispatch themed spiel. What it doesn't need is an operator laughing or going on and on and on.I don't have a problem with people having a bit of a laugh if the situation calls for it. A birthday announcement for instance or getting all guests to put their arms in the air, scream loud, but it only works on rides like Runaway train or Black Buccaneer. When staff start playing guess the disney film with other staff members, not fun.
-
I don't because I don't want to be stuck on the bloody thing for 10 minutes while engineers twaddle over to reset it.Want to go backwards? Ride No Way Out.
-
Why not?For instance, at Europa Park each ride has its own themed uniform to compliment the ride. I think things like Dragon horns would work well on Fury or the Chinese hats on Falls would go down a treat
-
It's a health and safety requirement for the operator to say "place all bags and loose items on the exit platform". Even if people don't listen the ride would fail an inspection or a mystery shop if he doesn't say the required stuff. Trust me having to say "once again, bags and loose items are not permitted on the runaway train" over and over until people listen isn't fun.I agree that all the pointless stuff though, some operators love the sound of their own voice so unfortunately kind of stuck with it.

I voted it excellent and it is Thorpe's only ride since it was installed, that I could continually give that score. With Stealth you know it's going to be fast and intense because of the size and speed of it. but Detonator, despite looking pint sized is so much better. I've been on 200 and 300 foot drop towers and none of them compare to the force, speed and power of Thorpe's little gem.Detonator may not have that amazing soundtrack anymore but its a sublime ride and one I will always make the effort to ride.
-
Thats the gamble of purchasing Fastrack then. It's why I never purhcase it and would rather queue for the rides then waste money.
-
Continuing the series, vote for what you think of Detonator. Detonator, was one of three new rides for the 2001 season. Initially it seems small, especially when compared with Stealth, but first impressions can be deceptive!Vote and Discuss your vote here!

I know a lesbian. Compared to about 100 gays. So yeah....As for Tub's question... wouldn't change it for the world. An important thing for me is that being gay isn't my personality, it's just one aspect of me. I guess I'm lucky that I didn't 'discover' myself until the end of school so I didn't have the jeering and bullying side of it which may have made me ashamed... However the boyfriend is so open and so "pro-gay rights" it's rubbed of on me slightly.

When you say queue for the ride, is that when Colossus, Inferno, X no way out and Tidal Wave have zero queues making fastrack irelevant anyway...
-
Oh you've missed out on nothing. I mean I rode it when it wasn't a golf buggy and it was still trimmed to hell and boring.
-
Wow.. those two haven't won for like ten years have they?
-
The fastrack packages are £9. One of them has Colossus, Nemesis Infero, X No Way out and Tidal Wave or Loggers Leap. The other has Stealth, Vortex, Rush and Samurai. The Hydration package is £6.00 and has Rumba Rapids, Tidal Wave and Loggers Leap. The one shots are either £2.50 or £3.00. The coasters are three pound and the other rides are £2.50. Saw fastrack I believe is £4.00 but I may be wrong :S
-
And just hope they don't lose your passport details!
-
What we are saying here is that there is zero point riding Vortex until the music comes back.

So is the Iceland volcano attack effecting anyone on here? The boyfriend is currently stuck in Sardinia. Supposed to fly back today.. but erm.. well I'll try not to ruin Doctor Who for him.
