Restraints

Really random, but one thing I noticed at the annual pass day was that on empty seats, and running empty trains, the staff done up the buckles on the restraints, and when someone didn't do it on Detonator, the operator said on the mic that he needs to.

Is this a new rule for 2014? As I always thought they never used to, on Detonator I used to see the straps flying upwards when it dropped.

It was always technically a rule, just one that this year seems to be being enforced more strictly on all rides.

Hm fair enough, don't see why It should be a rule though, it doesn't necessarily make a difference and it's just slowing down operations.

It is most likely that as some of the staff are new the management team could be cracking down on rules which dont necessarily matter

It doesn't have to slow down operations. All the parks in Florida have this rule and their operations are great! The staff will eventually get into the habit of being able to do up the belts with their eyes shut so I'm sure it won't have that much of an effect.

I'm pretty sure the only reason this is a rule is that slamming open seat belts onto hard rides as they move breaks them, doing them up greatly restricts the movement of them.

Pluk just really hit it on the head. It's always been a rule; primarily due to wear-and-tear of seatbelts being flung around on rides, but more so the seatbelt is a indication to an on-looker that the seat has been checked by an attendant.

This actually quite often seems to happen at the start of seasons, as the year goes by the staff tend to not to do it anymore...
