Yes, you're right about the silent thing! When Oblivion isn't plunging into the tunnel, it's generally quite a silent area of the park, which I really love because it adds to it. We can only wait and see (or hear!) how much SW7 will affect this, but it does worry me. There's something so awesome about standing by Oblivion's hole with nothing but the noise of the mist spraying in the tunnel It's en eerie sort of silence which works. Imagining the sound of a Gerstlauer rattling around makes me cringe if I'm honest and just reminds me of Saw. Ew.

So after 4 years, my Dell laptop was, quite literally, falling apart! And I started having loads of issues with Windows Update (probably something to do with crappy Vista!) and I couldn't update iTunes, which led me to removing all Apple software, which I then couldn't download again so my iPhone couldn't be updated o synced or anything either! But it has now been replaced with this: For some reason in that photo my walls look pink, but they're not! So yeah, a vast improvement on my laptop - Windows 7 for a start! It's a Dell Inspiron 660s, Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 1TB hard disk space, NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 1GB graphics card and a 21.5" Full HD LED widescreen monitor Stating the rather obvious here but my god, everything looks so much better and crisp and clear! Stunning desktop background: Also in reply to Luke - iOS6 does look great!

I guess...but the ride can actually run with just the lap bars, it's only those that need to be pulled down tightly The shoulder restraints are there to re-ensure guests and for comfort (as long as they're not pulled down too far of course ).
  10. Mer replied to Ash's topic in General Discussion
Yes, it's a huge pain for staff too having to faff about with the key releasing the bars because they've crushed themselves And people complain about the slow loading procedure As for the announcement, the pre-recorded one simply tells guests to pull the restraints down, but if there's a decent op they will announce over the PA to pull the restraints down lightly. Of course, as anyone else here who has worked at theme parks knows, guests apparently lose their hearing and/or common sense when they visit

It would be a shame if Slammer actually left the park seeing as it is so unique, but as some others have said, it wouldn't bother me *too* much. It's fun but I never go on it on every visit like other flats such as Rush and Detty, it just seems to get forgotten about, or if mentioned usually gets a "I'm not in the mood for it/it gives me a headache" response Plus it rarely if ever gets a big queue and all this downtime costs the park money. How much I don't know, but it seems to break so much and pulls so little crowds that removing it may be the best option IMO. They should have removed it last year and spent the money on keeping CCR

Well done on getting through to the Assessment Centre, they have a lot of applicants so to get through to that stage means there's something about you/your application they really loved! I went to an assessment centre/interview there in January but unfortunately didn't get through to the interview part. What they do is have the assessment part first, then they go and have a chat (scary!) and decide who they want to put throuh to interviews, then come back and break it to you At my one, only 3 went through to interviews, despite a fair few others being very good,I'm hoping the reason was because they only needed a few staff! I don't want to worry you/put you off Even though I didn't get through, having had Merlin interviews before I imagine the questions would be something along the lines of the following: What attracted you to work for Sealife. why this specific location? How do you feel you did at the assessment centre, where could you have improved? Give examples of when you have delivered great customer service. Describe how you would deal with different guests such as angry guests, children, disabled guests etc. How would you deal with problems that may arise, would you be able to think on your feet etc? They may have your application form printed out in front of them and refer to it and ask about things you have put on it. It's also good to do research on the attraction and Merlin company incase they ask what you know about it Hope I've helped, good luck!
  13. I was just about to post about this, I found out about it because of the comments on the Facebook page! How awful I think the article's statement about her being taken to hospital conscious may be incorrect; family members that have been posting on the FB page say she is in hospital unconscious, fighting for her life, with fractured ribs and skull, and blood on her brain and in her livey and kidneys Of course if she is conscious then this is better news but I don't think the family would make an incorrect statement. Either way, I hope she makes a full recovery, what an awful thing to happen to her and her family, and for other guests to witness. This comment on the FB page is so saddening: "Waiting to hear news on the little girl who fell through the gap up on the bridge while queueing for Tomb Raider, was about 30ft up. We were there when this happened and didn't see any movement. My little boy and husband saw it happen & were so upset as was I seeing her lay there. They couldn't forget the sound of her hitting the ground so we just had to leave early. Also the thought that we prob wouldn't have noticed the gap either & what if..... How awful that no one working there noticed this, how could this happen?! PLEASE, let us know how she is." Very worrying how this happened tbh!

OMG Watching that lead to searching for Corrie Youtube Poop out of boredom, where I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ckhnq3Ab9o Better than the original The best bit is at 2:30 with the crash, the rest of it before is just the nomal scene. I cracked up when the music came in at the end
  17. But didn't Vampire's theme play in that whole area? Either way glad it's still used on the ride
  18. Wait the Vampire music has gone?! Did I read Fred's post correctly? Wtf?!

  22. Nothing wrong with that viewing tower in Brighton - imagine how far out to sea you could look! By what the article was saying it sounds very interesting and exciting If anything the Brighton Wheel was a silly idea, because it's not exactly high enough to view much compared to the tower Whether or not people think there's much to view in Brighton is their opinion, but it's an historic city plus being able to view for miles is something some people would find pretty cool. Also from Wiki: "It will be Britain's highest observation tower with views along the coast, across the South Downs and across the Channel." The South Downs are beautiful! On a very clear day you can just about make out France from the Booster which is only 135ft! It's something do to, it will make money and will create more jobs. Perfect! Eyesore? What about the burnt out remains of the West Pier, much worse than a shiny new observation tower I was going to say they could maybe save that money for doing something with the West Pier but then I read at the bottom of the article: "Fingers crossed this will kick start the redevelopment of the West Pier itself." Yay! Now all we need is to get a new decent ride on the pier to replace the joke-of-a-simulator...which replaced the Super Booster...which replaced a simulator. KMG ride please! Or an Extreme! EDIT: Just been reading about it and the Wheel will be removed once the Tower is built lol
