  1. What are the odds on the Galactinotes making Christmas Number 1 in 2016?
  2. Snuffhouse was already a rather extreme event anyway. McKamey's involvement is seemingly just going to bring in an experienced hand in creating longer shows and a huge boost in publicity. Colour me unsurprised. Given that there's seemingly forced eating / drinking involved I'd never go anywhere near this. Then again, the original Snuffhouse seemed to be pushing the limits for me anyway so that's not exactly a shock.
  3. After the brief discussion about DBGT's entrance sign a while back, I've been thinking about what my favourite ride signs / logos / entrances are. A couple of mine that spring immediately to mind... Challenge of Tutankhamon, Walibi Belgium. My personal favourite. Chiapas, Phantasialand Tidal Wave Huracan, Bellewaerde DBGT's is pretty decent too So share; what's your favourite?!
  4. A couple of nice aerial shots, sourced from looopings... It appears as though the splash zone is a platform just off the main path which is nice. Also, a video of the water basin filling up if anyone is interested: Worth mentioning that this isn't officially opened until June 4th (I don't think the queue and pre shows are finished yet), but apparently there are random times it is currently open as a soft opening.
  5. Noticed that the advert appeared on ITV1 about 15 minutes ago, so that answers the question of whether it's gone live.
  6. I wonder if they'd consider turning the KFC or Amity Burger King into a Roller Coaster Restaurant? They're both good sizes (and the KFC one could be expanded into the arcade for more room), and a major, indoor, restaurant is needed in the middle of the park in my opinion.
  7. The hanging carriage being a shell to disguise a ride system is the most logical thing I can think of at the moment. How else are you actually going to get down from it into the rest of the building? Works nicely with the idea of 'grand illusion' too - doesn't seem too out of the question to have this huge, Victorian train carriage seemingly disappear, despite the fact you're inside it, for example.
  8. Advert has been posted on Thorpe's Facebook; looks quite cool! https://m.facebook.com/thorpepark
  9. Seems odd that there's a couple of articles that have randomly appeared today, no? Like, we've known it's going to be delayed for over 2 weeks now and it's only a week after the planned opening date, so why is the media going on about 'WHEN WILL IT OPEN?' - just feels...weird?
  10. Couple more photos from Plopsaland's FB...
  11. For those who remember my 'Story Behind Detonator' blog from a couple of years back, I said that a Vekoma coaster was originally planned for the Inferno site, but was scrapped for various reasons. I originally thought that it was a SLC, but it seems like I was wrong and it was in fact a (custom?) Vekoma launched coaster! Image from 'Coasting around the UK' Facebook. Would recommend giving them a like if you haven't already! I love Inferno, but I must admit that the layout of that does look rather fun!

But the next time Jack rides Inferno it'll be his number 1 again...
  13. There are parks around the world that close down pretty much all their rides if there's even the chance of rain. It's obviously frustrating, but it's by no means ridiculous.
  14. Wonder how much theming those concrete buildings will receive this year before opening. Does look quite nice though; looking forward to riding!
  15. Cost of development does not necessarily equal cost of overall investment though? Though if £13m is the total cost, that's still a large amount of money for one attraction, and looking at the quality of some of theming, it's still promising.
  16. Saw's has 145 pages. Also, both Saw's and Swarm's construction threads went over 100 pages. New rides create speculation and discussion, regardless of how much we know..
  17. On a more serious note, it's interesting to see how 'Don't lose your head' has cropped up a couple of times now - in these rules and by the ORP collection kiosk. Wonder if it's just a gentle nudge towards the head in a jar photo opportunity thing or if it's something that relates to the story a bit more?

    Velcoiraptor looks so fun!
  19. Going to lock this thread guys; we've already broken two rules.
  20. I do think that IAC is meant to open at 10 every day regardless of when the park opens. Other rides though is hard to comment on.
  21. There is no age restriction though, just an age recommendation. 'Scary' rides (by which I mean rides with a dark / horror theme) always have high height restrictions, so that no one under that height can ride it; something covered by the park's T&Cs. Height restrictions are easy to control, since it is easy to check if someone is x height or not. There's a nice age-height correspondence too, so on average, kids hit 1.4m when they're about 10, like Adam says. Age restrictions are a lot more difficult to enforce (how can you prove if a kid who says he's 13 actually is 13, for example). So to have a strict age restriction comes at a cost of a lot of hassle, so is never worth it on a large scale. It's also something that isn't really covered in a park's T&Cs (usually, only special events are age restricted, not all year round attractions. Changing the T&Cs to cover this would be a huge pain). Having the height restriction and age recommendation works well. The height restriction means that kids who are tall enough to ride are a couple of years away from the age recommendation (as opposed to several years out), meaning that they themselves, and whoever they are with, can make a better judgement as to whether they are suitable for the attraction. Sub Terra had a recommended age restriction of 12+ I believe. Hob's Pit and PWH has a 12 age recommendation is a 1.5m height restriction for similar reasoning too.
  22. Completely random point, but one thing I've noticed is how the wooden panels in the queue line have been 'aged up' in recent weeks, with green paint to look like mould I assume... From TPM From TPG, a couple of weeks after the TPM photo.
  23. To be fair, it has come up and was discussed on the last page Plans for this version were submitted a couple of years back and all the necessary obstacles have been cleared this time, so all is good!
  24. Look at it compared to other attraction signs across Thorpe. And even compared to other ride signs across European parks. It ranks as one of the better, cooler, more original, signs that I can think. (I fully expect people to post pictures of Tidal's sign and other awesome-looking signs now, but still, you get my point). If you want to be facetious and pessimistic though, your favourite (steel) roller coaster is just metal shaped and joined in a certain way.
