  1. They wouldn't put another attraction on Swarm's island - simply because there isn't enough space! Lost City has always been a mish-mash of very loose themes and if Thorpe were to ever go back to themed areas, that'd be the most difficult one to sort out (certainly wouldn't envy the creative team that would have to do it!). I'd like an Air Race at Thorpe, but at the same time, the place has enough rides which spin, twist and flip you. Would be a good ride for the current target market though, given it's only got a 1.2m restriction.
  2. Pretty sure I've seen this mentioned before, but no pictures: (Photo by TowersStreet). You can pay to charge you phone whilst on park. This one is near Dark Forest, and there's one by Forbidden Valley as well.
  3. My only trouble with the new branding, as it stands, is that it can feel 'too professional'. I feel like there's a bit of life and soul missing in it; there's no real character - just a kinda corporate idea. Despite all the old branding's flaws, you can't question the fact that it had life and character. Not even asking for much; just something that splashes some sort of life or humour or something into the place.
  4. "polygon-like shapes" So 2D shapes. It's a shame that all this effort went into background research, and the final result feels like it's missing something to tie it all together.
  5. Don't think anything had been said either way yet. Only thing that's been confirmed so far is that the event itself is being called Howl'o'ween now.. From what I heard about it, I hope it does return!
  6. I like you already! Welcome to the forums.
  7. Was seemingly the Azteca grand opening today... Restaurant Entertainers (All images from Chessington's Twitter).
  8. Aww man, I thought the Fright Nights meet was met meant to be a killer get together.
  9. Couple of pictures from inside the preview room, as uploaded by Towers' Facebook... There's more, but they more show the exterior.
  10. Well it is meant to marmalise your mind and body, so it was clearly designed to beat you up so it fits the theme!!
  11. http://gardaland2015.it/en/interviews A new video, "Interviews", is on the minisite. Marco Rinaldi, the news presenter, seems far too happy about all this. I think TG "O" should get a more serious-looking presenter to report on this shocking news story...
  12. Saw is the only coaster I've greyed out on (admittedly, this was on a hot day, was my 4th ride of the day and I was a bit dehydrated). It's certainly no Nemesis, but it is an intense ride to me.
  13. Considering Thorpe essentially lost a maze last season (same amount of attractions as in 2012, but since Blair Witch was classed as a scare zone, one less maze), I personally think Thorpe would be mad to take away Asylum and not replace it with something else. I don't particularly think that Asylum's queue (after the fencing of the Fungle spot occurred) is that terrible. It just means people have to walk around the Carousel, which is no big deal in my eyes. Yeah, it's a bit of a pain, and it looks terrible, but it doesn't do any harm. EDIT: They stopped using the Fungle queue because the area was fenced off for cosmetic reasons (season-round, the fence looks a bit better than the random, deserted ride). I doubt they'd bring Freezer back, simply because they've got the Lionsgate deal; seems rather pointless having the partnership and not making full use of it! If they can get the right IP, they could very easily keep Asylum the same anyways.
  14. Double post but oh well... I've noticed on the Eventbrite page that there's only 1000 tickets per night for Premium and VIP MAP holders. Has there ever been a limit like that before? Seems a bit odd to restrict the number of people with those passes that can get in. Of course, I've no idea how many people have Premium passes, but surely there's got to be quite a lot, and many will want to be going to FN?
  15. Yeah, they went back to 10pm openings last season. There was talk about some of the smaller rides closing early (other than the likes of Loggers where it has to close early because of lighting of whatnot), but I think most rides stayed open till 10pm anyways.
  16. In case anyone is a bit confused, the layout previously posted were confirmed over Efteling's Facebook to not be the official ones, but more to show the location of the coaster. The exact quote was: (Sourced from Towers Street). So we have no idea on the layout - exciting times!
  17. I like it! I know some people may dislike the idea of news broadcasts and how it's copying Swarm's idea in that respect, but I think it's sufficiently different. Yes, the reuse of Oblivion's logo and that is just silly, but I do think the actual idea of the ride will be different enough to what there already is; even if it is drawing on inspiration from other rides..
  18. Assuming that ordinary guests are still allowed to eat at Bar 360 after park close like last season, then I don't see why it can't be extended to all guests?
  19. Get what you're saying about ride time, but at least for all but one of them, there's actually something happening (story telling, effects) as opposed to 'just' rolling through. Should probably have been clearer - I do sometimes notice the jolt, but there's only been one time when it's actually negatively effected my ride experience. I find moments on Colossus, Smiler, etc worse than that. Personally I've found the airtime hill has always been the best. Colossus' air time hill is good, though I prefer it for the fact it can feel like you're about to collide into the shop. Stealth's for me doesn't do a lot since the breaks kick in pretty much half way through, sucking out any enjoyment. I guess the restraints could be a cause of that though.
  20. Thanks for the TR Benin; enjoyed it! Have to say, I was more looking forward to your views on Tranan than your views on Helix (as we all knew that Helix was gonna be amazing anyways..)! Looks like a really interesting idea, and I remember following construction thinking it could really take off, but it seems not. The seats look a bit...odd, for lack of a better word - how comfortable are they?
  21. I don't really want to go too much into my reasons why I like Saw, since I've done it before here - http://forum.maniahub.com/blog/10/entry-309-why-saw-is-actually-a-really-good-coaster/ (checky little plug I know ). However, my views have changed a bit (I certainly don't think it's a "really good" coaster ), so just some quick rambles... Saw has an alright mixture of everything you'd want from a great coaster. There's a (admittedly loose) story there. An indoor section with some nice tricks, interactive elements and theming. A snappy outdoor section. People complain about ride time, but it does total up to 100 seconds if you're in the second car, which isn't exactly bad in my opinion. There's inversions, a couple of good drops, a very nice airtime hill (as long as your restraints isn't too tight, you can get very decent airtime) and intensity. However, it seems to fall short at at least two or three of these things for everybody - the intensity can be painful for people. The indoor theming isn't immersive enough. The story isn't really there. The outdoor section feels too short. etc. etc. It has all the right things there, just not enough of it. I will forever say that Saw isn't rough, just intense. I've only ever experienced the 'jolt' on the main drop once for example. But hey, that's all down to opinion. But I do think it's hard to say Saw isn't intense or has no airtime; I would disagree with anyone who says that. The IP has done really well due to the sheer icon status of Saw (like it or not). It's one of the best received rides on park by guests. I quite like the idea of horror-film themed Fright Nights as well, and I do hope that can continue. Though, in saying that, the idea of IP-based rides here, there and everywhere is less of an appeal to me. One or two, fine. Loads of attractions? No thanks.
  22. If Thorpe really wanted to make the actual ride of Saw a death trap, they'd have gone with Intamin, not Gerstlauer. (Too soon? ) On a more serious note, whilst Saw hasn't had any more films for 3 years(?), I wouldn't exactly say it's dead. An 8th film has been widely rumoured for release soon, and it's very iconic - many people would put it up there with Friday the 13th and Scream I'd argue. Even if it's not the greatest franchise ever, it will last. I think given the time it was built (ie - when they were focusing purely on thrills and 16-34 year olds), it was the best IP they could go for if they wanted a horror film.
  23. So I wonder why this has disappeared... Sauce - Xplorer Central Hopefully it's just been temporarily removed because of an issue / they're replacing it with a different model (if there are ones), as opposed to being completely taken out.
