The Smiler
Though you were actually at the event; I've heard it could be either. I'd always assumed 2014 to be more likely as AT usually did SWs on a 4 year thing, but that of course could've changed.

Backstories
Ah right. Personally, I think it is explain to a good enough standard but, as you said, the maze itself just lets the story down.

Backstories
I think that is probably what they tried, yes, but I think the execution was very poor. That is probably the best back story you can get for it. The SWAT room of the maze does really give the back story, albeit a weak one.

Hmm, strange. Every time I've visited, it's been on time, give or take a minute. The earliest I've seen the park opened this season is about 9:25. Strange.

I disagree with this. It just annoys people more. For example, Chessie opens its gate at 9:30, but practically all rides don't open till 10. And the amount of people I've heard saying "What's the point in opening the park but not the rides" is uncountable...

Tidal Wave
I do agree. To be honest, when Ricky pointed it out, I did realise it, but it was only then that I did. Then again, I very rarely bother Tidal Wave, but that's no excuse. You also say how 2 people notice how the Tidal Wave sign was fixed. As far as I'm aware, no one has mentioned about the removal of the Sea Snakes and Ladders (or whatever it was called) play area by Depth Charge, or the extra paving CC side if the Slammer toilets..

Education (Exam Results)
Good luck Gemma. :DBy the way, anyone know why GCSE result day has been moved to Tuesday?

Education (Exam Results)
My school being my school didn't bother to open for our results, what with only about 12 people collecting results. I wouldn't have got them anyway; only got back home at about 5ish. :DWhether I'll get them on Tuesday or in the post is a different matter...

Backstories
There aren't many back stories, or even front stories, to the rides to be honest. Even Saw's in unclear. One moment we're police officers, then thrill hunters, then test subjects...Inferno hasn't really had one, but the closest you can device from the park's marketing is how you are riding a Volcano. Personally, I like to make my own little back story to Inferno; the eruption of 2000 caused a monster to awaken inside the Volcano - and you must 'feel the heat' of both the monster and volcano to tame it.Tidal Wave. Do I need to explain that one. X:\WTF. The above is the easiest way to put it, but it isn't really that in some ways now. That's it really.

Stealth
Remember 2006 and 2007. They were hammering Stealth in. That means, if we were to follow your theory, Nemesis Inferno and Colossus were the 'what' rides of then, and they're even worse now?Nu-uh.

Never got that before to be honest. :blink:Get the head bashing, but that's it really. Little roughness on Saw, no leg cramp on this, maybe I'm lucky? Or just very strange...- Feedback of the Site
I agree Ian with everything you said, but... I'm wasn't trying to be rude or anything, but I get frustrated in general how this forum seems to be the only place where I can never get across what I mean, yet on every other forum now, and in person, I seem to get what I say across just fine. As I said, I agree with Ian, and just think this should be dropped. I gave me feedback appropriately, and it was discussed.- Chessington General Discussion
Gate figure for today was around the 6000 mark today at 1 o'clock. Was higher in the morning, but the rain drowned people out.Queue times and such to follow in a TR this evening.- Feedback of the Site
*sigh*I dunno what it is with this place, but on here I never seem able to say what I mean...I'd write the articles in such a way that the GP could gain the basics, but the majority of the articles is the meaty stuff that fans would be interested in. That way, the GP get what they want, have the oppotunity to become a fan and fans get what they want from a fan site. No snobbery or elitism involved. And at no point did I say and 'Enthusiat only' site. A site that would aim towards fans, but still give GP info. And Marc, I think you don't offer that, as do others I've spoken to, but you think you do. I guess that's where a lot of this has boiled from..- Feedback of the Site
The point I was trying to make is that the audiences will what different depths of knowledge about the park. The GP will want the basic depth, touching on the slight more in depth stuff, whilst the fans will want a small amount of basic, with quite a lot of depth. Well, if I was running this site, in your position, I would aim to go for one audience - either create a GP friendly site and forum that singles out the fans to a greater extent, or the other way round. From my posts, you can probably guess I'd choose the latter option, but that's what I personally would do. Oh, I completely understand that. From posting articles on other sites, I know everyone differs in how they write, and that getting a consistent style from everyone is ridiculously complicated. But what I'm saying is that some sort of style, 'formula' if you will, is thought of so that each article is consistent to having the same amount of GP and fan-wanted info.- Feedback of the Site
In my eyes, I can't see how it can work towards both groups. The majority of the GP are interested mainly in the basics - what the ride is called, what it's like, etc. Quite a lot are also interested in height and speed as well, and about the records as well - probably. But they don't really care beyond that; in all the experiences I've had anyway. The audiences therefore, are interested in two very different things, I don't see how you can keep both sides happy, giving them enough information to suit both needs. You said about the FN article you wrote in 2008, it didn't gain a good reception from the GP. Some of the articles that are being written now aren't gaining a good reception from fans (in saying this, I am not speaking of every fan, or everyone on this site, but from fans that I have spoken to). I can't see how it can be balanced out properly. As for the style of the articles being totally subjective to the author, I don't see that as right. I understand that everyone has their own styles, but surely when running a site, a consistent style should be concentrated on?- Chessington General Discussion
