  1. I thought the park had said they resolved it by putting them behind hard plastic. Guess not!
  2. Nope. At least it isn't permanent like Chessington's 3:30pm closures.
  3. I'm sure it would have been a mixture of both, but ultimately Thorpe know that Coaster Studios is big back home so having them behind the scenes is a global (and in essence free) marketing boost to get those oversees interested when it's then posted on social media.
  4. No idea that's just what was said with regards to "foundations". Sorry I should have been clearer, track I believe would also be supports. Should have said "vertical" construction. Will edit post. The whole project was stated to take 15 months. It started in late November so i'd say its near impossible to be opening start of year. I am going to guess June 1st to allow for any delay or supply issues, but hopefully it ends up earlier, but can't see it being any earlier than start of May.
  5. The original plans stated 15 months approximately including 5 to 6 months of infilling conditions to resolve 3 months foundations. 80 days (nearly 3 months) of vertical construction 78 days (nearly 3 months) electronics 28 days (nearly 1 month) testing and commissioning They started in December and I would assume the recent heavy rain has delayed things 2 to 3 weeks. So lets assume foundations start June (markings are down but there still appears a bit of ground work) that takes us to August. So i'd say around September time potentially. Possibly October if further delays. Then by Christmas track should be done. Then another 4 months of other work. So this is likely a May or June opening I would say.
  6. There is clearly an issue where many are simply abusing it as I can't say I see hundreds of people going for RAP equivilent in ANY other theme park I've ever been too outside of Merlin or even the UK. It really is unfair on those genuinely needing it. Nothing will change though as this has been going on years now.
  7. I'm not fussed if it isn't themed. I think thorpe is more suited as an amusement park anyway. I'm just thankful that il have a decent coaster down the road with or without a theme. If it is themed please not more run down doom and gloom, though by doing that I guess the neglect all the rides appear to get there will just look a part of the theme.
  8. It is unlimited refills in Five Guys even says it on the menu. 😛 However I agree £9 isn't bad at all. Also at Thorpe (only there for some reason) with an AP discount it's £7. The sugar free bottled drinks are £2.75 each so 3 to 4 drinks and you have moneys worth. Plus the cost for the additional flavours you can't get bottled makes it a good deal. And yup there is always the option of bringing own food and drink as Glitch mentioned so nobody is forced to pay it and it isn't needed every visit.
  9. It is a real shame as following all the refresh work over closed season and seeing some of the park look the best it ever had last week was great, but totally agree about the running of things. One train vampire should never happen. It had three trains, yes they cannibalised the 3rd but hello Vekoma still exist so that makes no sense, just being cheap there. The station system has been poor for years, it makes no sense to not batch at least two or three trains worth of people yet they seem to faff batching people once the train is back. The RAP queue also holds things up, it's a shame they couldn't find a permanent solution to have everything merge the one side. Breakdowns and downtime seem huge as mentioned above and it really does cause frustration. Then to see effects broken still after a closed season such as in tomb blaster or zufaris waterfall (which apparently was working for a few rides then gave up again) is also poor. My biggest frustration is Tiger Rock. How is it acceptable to queue 25 mins from steps going down from the bridge (nearest station) on what should be a high throughput ride. It's running less and less boats each year. I was appalled last year at 12 boats. This year its running 9. Il add that it can run up to 25. Hopefully things improve as the season moves towards Jumanji opening or its going to be some pretty poor reviews continuing. VID20230319145547.mp4
  10. It wasn't new track in on AP day, that was the old track that had been sanded down. New track wasn't put in until during the weekdays last week.
  11. Official teaser with POV and off ride shots of Exodus at 3:09
  12. I thought the days of absolutely daft sponsors were over. This one for 2023 is pretty ridiculous and does not appear to fit Amity Cove. But then they did confirm on the Thorpe Passholder FB group that areas were being moved away from again so perhaps it isn't such a big deal! Photo courtesy of Theme Park Guide on FB
  13. For many that height is going to make it an intimidator of a ride!
  14. Surprised there hasn't been backlash from locals as It really doesn't fit the environment haha! Very fun rides though!
  15. They do keep giving it a go with this place. It'd need serious investment to get off the ground, so I don't have much hope. I hope they bring back Screamland. That was a decent event. Do you have a source for Richard Cadell owning the place? Only thing I can see is that he loaned a ghost train. It appears Sands Heritage own the place.
  16. To be fair, I don't think rides need a huge theme at Thorpe Park, it would always have worked having minimal theming just like six flags/Cedar Fair IMO.
  17. Will be interesting to see this progress. Many are pointing at Zamperla being the ones looking after this project. Not sure they have the experience with fast launches let alone one of the fastest!
  18. Very bizarre name for the coaster indeed. Think the ostrich one will be fine as its meant to be a Super Jumper ride.
  19. Agreed, exact words I would also use!
  20. Great news! Will look forward to following the construction of this. With this, Jumanji, the dueling coasters at Legoland and a potential new indoor Waterpark, the South has lots to look forward to! Exciting times!
  21. It hasn't been too bad so far. Some friends went last weekend and said it was a waste having fasttrack. I went on Friday with a few from here and the queues peaked at 35 mins. Fastrack single shots are available for £8 on the night.
  22. It looks like it might reopen! Exciting times! 😂
