  1. Ok, I've been reading some things over at OU and found a link to a review with some pictures.DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IF YOU WANT EVERYTHING TO REMAIN SECRET. IT DOES CONTAIN SPOILERS!http://attractionsmagazine.com/blog/2010/05/30/spoiler-filled-look-at-the-new-harry-potter-and-the-forbidden-journey-ride-and-the-rest-of-the-wizarding-world/It also contains videos of things around Hogsmede.
  2. I know, I just meant the fact that they are putting in lots of detail and some aspects of tue area seem to have been well thought out and done. I haven't seen anything I would consider half hearted as of yet. The budget seems to have been put to good use
  3. WOW, this looks absolutely mind blowing.Even from a poor quality video it seems like there are so many great things in this queue, I can only imagine how much better it would be in person! It's good to see UO going all out on it, I think I know where on the internet I'll be lurking for the summer!
  4. Thanks for the TR Mark! Included some nice photos and made me want to go there even more.I think it's a shame how parks such as Thorpe aren't really able to keep up effects as from what you've said Europa can. In the first picture it looks like the smoke you go through on the launch is working? That's the sort of thing which would be a novelty at Thorpe and they would be thanked for having it going, when in fact it should always be running. We shouldn't be pleased if it's running, we should be displeased if it isn't.Also from reading your trip report it seems to be going for the same sort of effect as Disney. Having the obvious attractions but having a whole world of extra things to do if you're willing to take it slowly instead of charging off to the coasters. I think this is emphasised by the hotels and also the sheer amount of shows. Also goo to hear about how good Blue Fire is. I saw the layout and thought it looked like it had potential, good to see Mack have managed to pull off a well rounded, fun coaster.Anyway yeah, great trip report, hopefully will fit this in if I go to Germany/that area of Europe with the family.
  5. Managed to get on this last week! After years of not gong on I convinced myself and I must say I'm glad.I think it's a really great ride and the weightlessness feeling is fantastic. Linked to this is the nature of the restraints; they give you a lot more freedom than other types of restraints may have given you.On the downside however it was plain to see that one swing was going higher than the other, it looks bad when they both swing up but even worse when they swing back from a swing and they don't pass the centre point at the same time. It just looks horrible! Also both times I was on at different times of the day it was only on 40 second cycles. I expected more, especially because it was an inset day and I never saw a single cycle without empty seats.

    Eurgh, Lemsip is disgusting!
  8. Yep, I agree the left is definitely rougher for me than the right. I also rode both sides and whilst the right was still quite rough, it did not have me coming off wincing with pain like the left. Admittedly this could just be a one off event but I felt quite a stark contrast between the two sides. For me it was generally throughout any sort of manoeuvre it felt rough, though the pain culprit was the main drop. I hate the way you can watch the ride in motion and see the cars jolt as it descends the drop and curves up into the Immelman. On the effects side of things I was disappointed not to see the spikes and pendulum not working as I feel these do work as great headchoppers on the drop.
  9. Argh, my internet has been really bad this week. I'm unable to watch youtube/iplayer at all and other web pages are really slow. What especially annoys me is the inconsistency of our ISP. We had this problem a couple of months ago so rang up our ISP (Tiscali) and asked for assistance. Cut a long story short they didn't really help but that's not the strange thing. We then asked if tiscali were owned by talktalk to see if we should ring them if we had issues instead. They said yes but that they were still independent of one another. We then rang up the next day and the first line we heard was "Hello talk talk".What a joke.EDIT: Just did a speed check on our up to 8mb broadband, the result was....1.3mb. That's being slightly optimistic compared to how long downloading this iPlayer programme is taking...
  10. I agree with Mikey, it really felt quite good on Tuesday and it definitely sounded quieter. I was on it and was surprised not to be hearing the trademark sound of Colossus.
  11. We had just got in the front row queue. I was in either a blue hoodie or a grey nike top.Adam was in a light blue simpsons ride top I think.
  12. Ok I've now written the report for the today; voila.Adam and I met up with the other two at the park and we waited about 20 minutes for the gates to open. We headed straight for Stealth and got one three times in quick succession, one at the front. Damn this ride is amazing! We then headed off to Inferno and rode it twice, once at the front. Mist wasn't great but better than nothing, the lights were on in the tunnel as well. The small geyser like thing at the top of the queue was spitting out steam quite consistently. Next up was Rumba Rapids! WE went round twice without getting off, didn't notice any improvement over last season, was fun though. The next area we headed to was the Colossus/ Saw area and we went on Samurai. I was initially quite nervous but enjoyed it greatly. I won't be at all hesitent next time as I think my fear of it is gone! We then headed to Saw, queued for about 20 minutes and rode in the second car, front row and I was on the left. I know feel sorry for the people who have had to feel Saw at it's roughest, oh my..that was pure pain. I remember that in future, I was the one put on the left, gee thanks... . We then rode Colossus which was a good, solid ride. I find it rough but not unbearably so, definitely brace-able.Next up was lunch and I was introduced to Calypso BBQ by Adam, a very good recommendation! The food was great and the service was very fats, I left a happy customer.I can't remember the rest of the day, so prepare for a random mish mash.I finally got on Rush today! After a couple of years of being too scared I was persuaded on and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for getting me on guys! Very fun with some nice airtime. Also went on Vortex which was ok, if not a bit boring after a while but hey ho.X was ok, wasn't terrible, wasn't great, didn't queue so it was all good.Loggers Leap was fantastic fun as usual, I really love that double drop! Finally good ol' Rocky Express, whilst not the most thrilling, it was a good laugh, definitely worth it!Not time for some more randomness, pictures. I know they're not that good but it was quite a high paced day so I was taking them on the move. Pics here soon.Good picture of Adam on Detonator.Inferno's geyser.Random pigeon in the Saw warehouse.

On second thoughts, that came out wrong. It's just from Portal, talking about momentum!

    Video Games.

Just thought I'd write something quickly about my first weekend of owning "The Orange Box". This consists of Team Fortress 2, Portal, Half Life 2 plus episodes 1 and 2.First of this game is a bargain, £15 for a great collection of games, including what many regard to be one of the best FPS ever.First off Portal, this is a fantastic puzzle game which uses "portals". It's quite hard to explain but basically you have a gun which either shoots red or blue portals. If you walk into a blue portal you come out the red one if that makes sense. The game then advances to utilise momentum which is great fun. You start off as a test subject going through test chambers. A robot monitors you and say some quite funny lines. I won't go into the story so I don't ruin it. Team Fortress 2 is an online shooter, with a unique cartoony visual style. There are nine classes to choose from which vary greatly. The way it has been done makes it extremely fun to play, even if your bad, like me. The nine classes all have strengths and weaknesses and it makes a nice change from the standard FPS' such as COD and Battlefield.Admittedly I haven't played much of Half Life yet but it seems like there is a very dark story line which could have lots of twists and turns.Overall, so far one of the best games I've bought and one of the cheapest!I'll try to write a longer review later when I've had more time on all the games.

    Doctor Who

Good episode this week, I like the way the series' big thing it starting to form, very exciting.
  21. I'm going to have to be a no I'm afraid. This is because on the 30th one of my elderly relatives, who I don't see very often, is coming over and it may be my last chance to see her.
  22. Wow, wasn't expecting this coming home from school, really surprised and shocked. It shows that however often and thouroughly rides are checkd in this day and age accidents will still occur. Anyway good to hear it was only bruising and shock, in a sense a very lucky escape of what could have been worse.
  23. Yes! Downloading as we speak, too bad I'll have to wait until after school, should be fantastic though! Thanks for the heads up!

These are two videos of the initial 30 seconds of the launch of Apollo 11. It was filmed at 500 frames per second and has been slowed down to last about 8 minutes.http://gizmodo.com/5526231/a-fascinating-view-on-the-apollo-11-launch -SDhttp://vimeo.com/4366695?hd=1- HD
