David B reacted to Mattgwise in TPM Thorpe Park Meet Saturday 13th August 2022Yep was a good day. Park nice and quiet overall, just can't get my head round that car park still not scanning 90% of people's tickets and especially knowing there was hardly anyone there. It still took 15 mins with only about 12 cars lined up. Its an absolute shambles! It's been the same ole disaster for about 4 years which il say again... I simply cannot get my head round it!

David B reacted to Mattgwise in 2021 Trip PlansFor me it's pretty ambitious, and not confident I will get all done but will try...
UK Merlin Parks
BPB
Paultons Park
Phantasialand, Toverland, Efteling and Walibi Holland as part of a road trip
Energylandia
Europa Park.
I'd also like to do a trip to New York in August to combine visiting Luna Park and Six Flags Great adventure & New England. Flights currently going for £375! Although many have advised I don't book as they think the whole year is goong to be disastrous for USA. I do think that USA will be one of the last places to improve but who knows.

David B reacted to Mattgwise in TPM trips cancelled for now!Dear TPM members
It is with regret that I announce the cancellation of all TPM meets for the foreseeable future.
However, it is only fair that we think of the health and safety of all our members and the general public.
Once things calm down we will come up with a new plan.
Let's hope we get through this crisis sooner rather than later and can all enjoy social events and the one thing we all love, visiting theme parks!
Thank you for your understanding.
Matt

David B reacted to terrortomb in TPM Fright Nights Meet Saturday 13th Oct 2018Thanks to some amazing people (TallGuyDom & Mattgwise), it’s looking more likely I can go again now, yaay!!

David B reacted to Matt 236 in TPM Fright Nights Meet Saturday 13th Oct 2018TPM meets are lots of fun and this one should be no exception.
You get to meet people of different ages and opinions, but everyone has one main thing in common, they enjoy theme park type attractions.
Its not just sbout getting on tonnes of rides but the social side too. From laugh out loud memories to plenty of banter and shenanigans.
Still thinking if I should dress up for this meet up. If yes, what as?
Being myself is perhaps scary enough for some people!

David B reacted to Han30 in TPM Meets Calendar 2018I’ve not been to a meet this year due to personal reasons but just want to say thanks to Ryan (and Paige) for the meets I attended last year - both myself and Roodie enjoyed the ones we attended and as was the case when Peaj ran the meets, they were always great fun.
Best of luck to Matt in running forthcoming meet ups - when I’m up to it I’ll try to get to some meet ups as you guys here are a great bunch of people and I kind of miss everyone
-
David B reacted to Matt 236 in TPM Meets Calendar 2018I would like to welcome Matt as the new meet organiser. I am sure he will do a Wise job there.
I will do everything in my power to attend both those meets above.

David B reacted to Mattgwise in TPM Meets Calendar 2018Hey all,
Due to the change in leading these meets this has obviously meant a change in the calendar for 2018.
As a result of the change the calendar will also change:
September abroad trip will no longer take place (this year anyway) October - TPM Fright Nights Meet December - TPM Christmas Meet A provisional 2019 calendar will come around November time.
In the meantime keep your eyes peeled for information on the Fright Nights meet.
Matt
-
David B reacted to Marc in TPM Meets Calendar 2018Just a quick meets update!
Due to other commitments, Ryan will no longer be leading meets for us.
@Mattgwise has agreed to step in and help us keep these running - I also plan to be around as much as possible to help out!
Hope to see you at Fright Nights!

David B reacted to Mattgwise in TPM Fright Nights Meet Saturday 13th Oct 2018Hi everyone,
Halloween is coming up and that means we will be holding the annual TPM Thorpe Park Fright Nights meet.
Based on a poll the date of the event has been set to Saturday 13th October 2018.
Please message or reply below if you plan on attending even if you voted in the poll.
The event will take place over the whole day as the park will be open 10am - 10pm, with horror mazes from 3PM. Below is the provisional plan for the day:
Park opening - Meet in the dome
10:15 - Start making way around the rides
1:30ish - Lunch
2:30 - Meet back up and start making way to first maze choice.
3:30 onwards - More mazes and rides in the dark until close (maybe another stop for food later if people hungry)
The meets are great fun and everyone is invited, even if you have never posted before or even been to a meet at all. If it's your first meet, I understand it can be nerve breaking - but we were all there once before, so all know the feeling, please don't let this stop you from attending. Once you are there you'll be part of the group in no time at all! Everyone attending will have my number or be a part of a FB messenger group.

David B reacted to Matt 236 in TPM Meets 2018 PlanningRight, so based on the 8-10 trips a year (over the previous 10-12), I would like to bring up the following.
2018:
January- Guildford replacement- I am assuming the Spectrum is to be (temporarily?) closed next year as part of the refurbishment/rebuilding process.
Should tgis be the case, potential replacement ideas could include (but not be limited to) Jarman Park Hemel, Crawley or Basingstoke (they have a water park).
March- Thorpe open meet- It isn't TPM without an open meet.
April- Chessington, usually popular and Empires makes for a fun banterous gathering.
May- International Meet?
Could make a poll in advance giving people the choice of where to go.
Liseberg might be a good choice with it's new coaster and easy transport connections, but parks like Phantasialand and Efteling could also be considered amongst others.
June Towers Meet, could be done in November for fireworks alternatively.
July- Anything goes. An alternative UK park maybe or even another Thorpe trip. I am unsure if or wether Ministry Of Sound will return.
September- Blackpool, Icon is calling!
October- Thorpe Fright Nights. Could combine with Tulleys but that might be going too far. Another staple meet.
December- Christmas Meet. Ho ho ho.
I think trips rips should be announced in advance, especially abroad/further distance ones so things such as planning, holiday and traveling can be researched.
At the the end of the day, the meets aren't about the parks, but the people attending them making laugh out loud memories to remember years into the future.
