  2. They have also updated their FB page cover photo to remove the "now open" from the Ghost Train picture.
  3. The Fastrack situation in particular puts me off visiting during busy times, there is little enjoyment in standing in slow moving queues watching paid queue jumpers bypass you.
  4. Coaster

    Logger's Leap

So the refurbishment is coming on well then!
  5. Wild Mouse is one of the best airtime machines in the UK without a doubt, as are Speed, Revolution, Grand National, Megafobia and Big Dipper.
  6. I don't think anything other than "it's a cheap(ish) way to market an existing ride" was considered with Galactica in all honesty, the throughput has been crippled (going by my visit, both through slower dispatch times and seats out of operation), the headsets are having their fair share of issues, and I really can't see it lasting more than a few years given the reports of a lot of people already choosing not to use the headsets.
  7. Thorpe seem to be having a lot of days where free returns are handed out for one reason or another, things really need to improve operationally IMO.
  8. The lack of Fastrack definitely helps, and makes it much more bearable to queue for, but in the long term they should be aiming for much higher than 500 IMO.
  9. 500pph is far too low, really hope it's higher than that given how much they spent on it.
  10. I don't think they were, I could be wrong but I think they were forced to remove it due to the height restrictions - after painting the top section blue with clouds failed!
  11. I've seen a lot online about people without wristbands being in the queues. You would think that, on an an event such as this, they would have the correct procedures to make sure this can't happen.
  12. I remember Stealth being one of the most unreliable rides ever when I first started visiting Thorpe - distinctly remember a day where it failed to launch on four occasions all with me on the train Now it seems to be more day or weekly closures for various different reasons, but whilst it has its fair share of breakdowns it seems to run better than it did 5+ years ago.
  13. There was more than one train out on the track at once when I was there back in June, it was basically running the same as it used to run when on 3 trains.
  14. Is Smiler still on 3 trains? Probably closer to 600/700pph if it is.
  15. Very unfortunate that this has happened during peak season.
  16. There's this word called an "opinion", you would do well to learn what it means.
  17. Of course it's cost saving, that much is obvious. The issue is, when we booked the holiday it was advertised as an 8pm close for the WHOLE park. A few weeks ago it was changed to 7pm, which is frustrating enough in itself. To then have Nick Land (that's 12 rides including a popular family wooden coaster) reduced by another hour to 6pm, and Wild Mouse to 5pm is beyond poor. It takes away the enjoyment when you have to stress about getting on everything, factoring in that you have to get on two of the coasters earlier than the park closing time (yet they both generate large queues), it's no good for thrillseekers. I'd also like to mention that there is NO mention of this before you enter the park - the sign outside says 7pm close, and the staff in the ticket centre haven't told us about it (they usually inform you of any late openers/early closes or rides closed on the day). It's extremely underhand and very unprofessional the way BPB are doing this.
  18. That really is great (getting it back open for 11pm!) Not so great that it'll be closed for a while though!
  19. I'm not sure, the only thing I can think of is that maybe they're trying to save money for the new coaster, but even so, there are plenty of less popular rides they could close (Grand Prix, Eddie Stobart, junior Carousel etc.) rather than a popular family area, including one of the wooden coasters. I think their gate figures have been lower so far this year, but with the poor start to the season that's no surprise really - and closing areas/rides an hour early isn't going to do much to improve this. With that said, I have noticed some improvements to ride operations, and I hope that continues to get better. As for construction, groundwork has started but actual coaster construction is very unlikely to be this year.
  20. Despite the 7pm close, Nickelodeon Land now closes at 6pm, and yesterday Wild Mouse also closed early (closed at 5pm, reopened at 5:45pm but they were stopping people entering then queue by 6:15pm), and Valhalla also closed early - but I think that was a breakdown so that's different. Given that last year it was an 8pm close with the whole park staying open, it's shocking that they're closing rides/areas even earlier than the already reduced closing time. It's such a shame what has happened to the place.
  21. Loggers Leap at Thorpe, loads at Towers, some others at parks which have (in some cases) reopened, or partly removed.
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure the most trains it can run is five, with three being the minimum?
  23. Wish they'd just leave it as Air.
  24. Despite disagreeing with the poster (I'm not a big fan of Ghost Train), I fully agree that people should be able to voice their opinion without being ridiculed which seems to happen a lot on here.
