Does it? That's news to me...
-
Even if it does, the disused theme has already been overdone at Thorpe and the fact that the word "warehouse" is being used in the marketing doesn't exactly suggest a highly themed ride.
-
Because, despite the fact that it is supposedly Thorpe's largest investment to date, they can't even think of a creative setting! The disused warehouse idea has already been done with Saw, this is just re-using the same idea and they could have been so much more creative with it.
-
Surely they would have said something if the ride was up for removal? Even if only in the last week, to give people the option to get their last rides on it? What could possibly fit on the Loggers site anyway? Considering that there's a massive lake in the middle of it, I can't see there being many options of rides able to fit there.
-
You went somewhere for a Wacky Worm?
-
Removing Loggers would be a terrible decision. Really hope that's just an error.
-
Urgh! Why can't they think of a proper theme for once? Everything is in a "disused warehouse!" Seems to me like an excuse to not theme the exterior more than anything else. I mean who decides on these marketing schemes/ideas these days? They throw millions at an attraction and can't even think of any better than "disused warehouse?" Thorpe is going to look like a disused theme park if they carry on like this.

Infusion is the only rough coaster at BPB, I enjoy it usually but it depends how it's running. Generally I enjoy raucous rides that throw you around much more than smooth ones, so I'd like a go on Baco!

Thinking about it more, I think that this is a completely unnecessary decision. Alton Towers lost customers this year, but Merlin as a company is still making a huge profit. I think that to recover the park, they should write off the next few years as massive money makers and instead focus on good customer experience, which will in turn get the guests back through the gates! The huge number of jobs lost is likely to have a huge negative impact on the park, which is only going to drag it down even further IMO. In the long term they need to be thinking about the survival and reputation of the park rather than how they can keep their profit as high as possible in the short term.

I would like to see several things, and whilst realistically they can't all happen at once, this is an outline of things I would like to see in 2016 in order of importance. - Reliability and capacity improvements. Thorpe has the potential to be very good at handling crowds, but unfortunately it has suffered a lot from high downtime in recent years (well, and in past years as well actually!) I would like to see this improved by having all rides open most days as well as the coasters being on capacity unless the park is dead. - Major overhaul of several rides and areas The park is in a bit of a state to be honest, with Rumba, Loggers, Colossus, Inferno (to a lesser extent) and several other rides looking in dire need of some TLC. I would like to see a major refurbishment or one of these rides and heavy duty clean-ups of the others. Several park areas are also in a state such as the area underneath Storm Surge. X's queue also needs a cleanup. - Bring back all the individual ride Themes! This is something that would cost Thorpe next-to-nothing to do, but would improve the atmosphere of the park so much. Why does Inferno play IAC music in the queue when it has its own fantastic theme? (I miss the days of this playing throughout the queueline: https://youtu.be/UEMd-zxpjSM ) - Reopen CCR. With the reintroduction of a family approach this has a place at the park again IMO, but I would see it renamed to something along the lines of "Thorpe Park Express." - Bring back FRIGHT nights! (As opposed to this year's "mildly dark and not particularly scary" nights).
-
I really want to go on Furius Baco!
-
This is the same company who produced "Oblivion: The Black Hole" don't forget. (Only joking, although I can't imagine them calling it Derren Brown's Ghost Train, it's just too simple).
-
Ignoring the "it's a bad ride" part (as your personal view of the attraction is irrelevant in this discussion), the final hour is often when people go on it from what I've seen.It never holds a huge queue but that's irrelevant, rides should never close before the advertised closing time and one guest making the effort to get to it only to find it closed is one too many! Staggered opening at least gives people the option to come back later to experience the attraction, closing it early is just poor customer service.
-
Staggered opening would be bearable for Sub Terra, but closing it early wouldn't work IMO as there would be confusion with guests heading there to find it closed in the final hour(s).
-
With 190 jobs being lost at the start of next year, can anyone see a future for Sub Terra? I think it's questionable considering the attraction requires a hefty number of staff and is very expensive to run for the small number of guests it gets. Personally I hope it stays as it is an attraction I enjoy, but it may not be in Alton's best interests to keep it open.
-
It's saddening to hear that they are seemingly making cuts to the core company, I seem to remember another park doing that no so long ago and it has been left in a bad state operationally since! Really hope the same doesn't happen for AT, and I think it is a shame that so many dedicated workers are losing their jobs.
-
That looks amazing, but unless it's just perspective it looks like the second hill is just as high as the first!
-
That looks very similar to the Thunderbolt at Flambards which is a Superrides International Superstar. Great flat!
-
That's no reason to be sad, you've been to Europa!

After many months of theme park visits, the 2015 season has come to a close and the parks are once again hibernating for the winter. Which parks did you visit throughout the 2015 season, and how many times? If you are visiting more parks over the closed season (some abroad ones are bound to be still open) then add them in as you visit. I'll start with: Blackpool Pleasure Beach - 33 Thorpe Park - 14 Alton Towers - 2 Oakwood - 1 Pleasurewood Hills - 1 Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach - 1 Chessington - 1 Funland (Hayling Island) - 1 TOTAL: 53 2015 has been my best season yet for theme parks, with 33 visits alone to my favourite park as well as plenty to Thorpe and visiting two brand new parks (PWH and GYPB)!
-
That's interesting about the roads, I always thought they were for vehicle access but that made no sense as they can drive across the paths where there is no road.
-
Shame that the rest of Thorpe's flooring is patched up and disjointed, or a road. Agreed though that the newer areas look much nicer.(Actually, why are some of Thorpe's paths roads?)
-
I went on Loggers, Slammer and X with the mindset that it could be my last ever rides on them yesterday, but realistically I think that Slammer is the only one which is likely to go this winter. I don't fear for the future of Loggers - it is one of the best queue shifters on park these days and a good log flume (it would be so much better with some TLC though, and bring back the tunnel!)
-
Alton Towers is set to axe 190 jobs by March next year. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/alton-towers-axe-190-jobs-10417248

Shame you've decided to take the website down, I thought it was very helpful!
