  1. This was posted via Alton Towers' Instagram today... Umm, so who's excited for 2017's attraction then?!
  2. In the world of dark rides such as: and even This is the best a £40 Million Pound investment can do? A more themed version of Saw's indoor ride shed... lets hope the inside is better!
  3. How anyone can say a 'run down warehouse with a huge red shed next to it' looks great, seriously needs to go to Specsavers.
  4. Not a statement, just reminding myself.
  5. Well, firstly I think this is a very interesting concept, and something Thorpe has needed for a very long time. Having a very long dark ride experience, which is apparently 10-15 minutes long is so exciting in the UK, especially with this £40 million budget. I don't mind the name? It doesn't roll of the tongue but works for what it is I guess? Not very keen on the warehouse look, I mean with way these disused themes at Thorpe are literally everywhere, it's going to be a more of an industrial estate than a theme park. I'm not being cynical, I just think in the age of I'm A Celeb, Saw Alive & Sub Terra... Merlin dark rides don't fill me with much faith!
  6. I really like this! It seems like the perfect time to do a space theme, in the age of 'Star Wars' & Tim Peake. Not having Mack's 'VR' headsets are interesting though... will Figment Productions be able to do to the same quality as Mack? The marketing/promotion material is of a high quality (but it always is with Alton, it's normally the final product that you look at thinking 'what went wrong?') & I do like the back story behind this. I think this is perfect for the new season, it's a gimmick yeah, but it's what Alton needs to make the GP think 'oh I've not see that before!' and get them to return to the park.
  7. I'd definitely eat at the Undersized Chicken restaurant.
  8. I personally have no complaints with the name, regarding the logo & name, it seems to be the brand as seen on this website. http://www.rollercoasterrestaurant.com/en/ All of the rollercoaster restaurants have followed this logo, also its a restaurant that serves food on a rollercoaster, just like Burger Kitchen is a kitchen that serves 'burgers' & Explorers Pizza Pasta etc etc, when dealing with a mass amount of GP, this name is ideal. Having given a quick glance over the menu (which can be viewed here https://altontowers.blob.core.windows.net/media/2056/rcr-menu.pdf), it certainly seems lunch will be served between the Theme Park hours and dinner will be available for hotel guests which should give the hotels another dining option. There seems to be a large variety, but I fear it, like other Towers restaurants, it'll be grossly over-priced. I'm praying MAP discount is included. Also promotional page has appeared on the website, it has different artwork of the past & present rides at Alton, maybe we'll get some nice artwork and not the vile marketing print we've got in the burger kitchen) Link found here: https://www.altontowers.com/activities/places-to-eat/rollercoaster-restaurant/#surf-restaurant
  9. I am pleased to announce my attendance!! For the second time in a row (yes! I do remember I am a member here) I shall be coming to LONDON. Whats happening in regards of 'Shrek's Adventure'?? I shall also be bringing a +1 with me for Madame Tussauds & Winter Wonderland!
  10. I feel like this really isn't good news, yes the ride is reopening but at what cost? We're not out of the tunnel yet, the dark days of Alton have only just begun.
  11. *blows dust* I was just looking at booking the Enchanted Lodges in the autumn but I was met with a surprise. Were the lodges always going to be closed during the Winter Season or? Not very good for their new accommodation but the over-priced tree-houses are still bookable...
  12. It's totally going to be Doctor Who - The Ride. Stop trying to make Derren Brown happen.

    Air

The new Alton Towers edited 2016 logo URL says 'Air-Space-Logo', could Air be going to space?! Would make sense with the rumoured VR headsets, which would make that possible... also remove the air tunnel problem by not being able too see it

    Scarefest

FEAST your eyes on my Scarefest 2015 review! All spoilers are hidden in tags so do not fear! http://forum.maniahub.com/blog/22/entry-728-trolley-dollies-guide-to-alton-towers-scarefest-2015/ Yesterday was a quiet day, but the maze queue timings was very much improved from Saturday.
  15. Good Afternoon TPM! I'm starting a new series called 'Trolley Dollies Guide to...' which will be my take on reviewing/trip reports. To start, lets begin with the UK's most premium Halloween event; ALTON TOWERS SCAREFEST 2015 The Park This year saw new theming added to Towers Street, including the new 'Scarefest' sign which saw as the back drop too many families photos this year, it felt very refreshing and exciting to walk down with the new audio & new decorations. The lighting through-out the park felt improved since my last visit in 2013, but the giant LED lights in the Th13teen queue was a little let down in what should be a very atmospheric queue at night time, but with the added Scare-zones, Dark Forest & Forbidden Valley felt alive... I'll get to those later though. One thing about the park which upset me was the lack of people, walking out of Haunted Hollow and into what I could only describe as a 'ghost town' with closed food stalls & rides, wasn't a pleasant experience. Zero queues & closed rides cause me and my group to ask each other 'what next?' as we struggled to fill time while waiting for our scare maze time slots. But apart from that, the park felt solid in terms of ride reliability & theming/lighting. Scare Zones Dark Apocalypse (Forbidden Valley) & Nox: Infernus (Dark Forest) The new Scare Zone are paths in the above areas, one being an open pathway from Sub Terra to Nemesis or in Dark Forest case, Rita's tunnel. At 5pm a warning plays across Forbidden Valley, informing guest that the infected are in the area with smoke covering the area, it made the area feel very alive and caused families unaware of the safe zone to run with their children through them. In Dark Forest, it was great to see the return of the Wraiths in Dark Forest, one of them was hiding behind Rita's wheel, another in this poor ladies face at the Th13teen shop exit, very scary with the actors in both areas playing with their surroundings. Alton may have shot themselves in the foot by having 'mini mazes' and marketing them as zones causing people to be disappointed with this years addition when in reality, this is what a scare zone should be so hopefully next year, they add some more theming & lights to them just to add that little bit more. Scare Mazes Right so this is the bit you've all been waiting for, I'll put any details inside the maze in the spoilers so please don't click them if you don't want to find out. Terror Of The Towers The true classic from Scarefest history, this maze is re-routed this year so lets see how it compares to my last visit in 2013 (and what I can remember from it) A solid maze, didn't really enjoy being in a conga line but alot of jump scares & hilarious moments! Scare Rating - 8/10 Theming Rating - 7/10 Overall Experience - 8/10 The Haunting Of Molly Crowe This new maze involves behind blind folded, to lets see how it goes... Interesting maze which uses your senses to scare you rather than jump scares & an incredible ending scene. Scare Rating - 7/10 Theming Rating - 7/10 Overall Experience - 7/10 Sub Species - The End Games 'What do you mean no holding onto the person infront of you?!' An experience which will haunt my dreams till next Scarefest, fantastic audio/theming/actors... just wow. Scare Rating - 100/10 Theming Rating - 9/10 Overall Experience - Never Again. Over-all, the experience was much improved from 2013, though the lack of people made the park feel sad... The solid mazes, theming and audio makes it a must visit, so go, go now, GO, JUST GO TO SCAREFEST. The End (till Next Time...)
  16. Do not hold your breath just yet... They've been testing the new systems today and working on some of the effects... but with less than a month till season ends, it's anyone guess right now if it will or will not open.
  17. Save some for the winter meet! Unfortunately I won't be coming (boo!) so please imagine me screaming with you! Instead I shall be trying to escape 'The End Games'. See you all in London!!

    Doctor Who

Ever since the move from RTD, I've tried to watch the 'new' Doctor Who, and the Dalek stories are one of my favourites but I've always struggled to get into the 'Moffat era'. The story was fantastic/interesting... the second part is far better than the first part
  19. The Fail would take something so simple into a huge headlining story. The best thing to do is just ignore these stories & look forward to Smiler opening... There's been ALOT of site activity the past couple of weeks... it's coming back!
  20. Just watched the 'This Morning' interview with Victoria, and it's very interesting to hear she actually went to visit the trains in the H&S lab. She mentioned about how both trains created a 'v shape' then they hit... again puts thing into prospective. I've haven't heard about Smiler testing recently, I can only assume it's still having it's ongoing process.
  21. Anyone notice the final update on the 'Mind Gap' says 'resistance is futile' at the end? I mean I'm not saying it will be but...
  22. You're abit slow on this... I started the #JusticeForMer campaign a long time ago... Picking mods are like picking new employees for a job, I don't think anyone here would go into a business and start complaining because all the staff members are male. The decision is made by anonymous applicants... It's not about who you are, it's about who is suitable to moderate a forum full of nearly 200 members*. (* rough guess)
