A variation of this was one of the first big rides I ever went on, so I love them for nostalgia and also for being a damn good ride. But they are quite common and I don't think there is much of a way 'unfairgrounding' them and it can't be run anything like that on a permanent basis. So I'll continue to enjoy them elsewhere but at Thorpe? No.

And with thirteen having been copied a couple of times already (including by another manufacturer) what is so special about that now? I'm usually all against enthusiasts being being seen as different to the GP, but in this case I'd say there is a difference. The GP would not give the slightest toss about a new type of inversion - upside down is upside down. Even a whole new ride type in The Swarm didn't exactly grab them, did it? They might enjoy something new like that once they're on it, but marketing something like that to them just wouldn't work. And that will be the measure of success from the parks point of view - how many bums does it get on seats. We'd all turn up obviously, but would anyone else? Whether or not you think it is a good thing to be chasing, a world record will always be very marketable for the time it is held (likely to be multiple years like previously), gain a lot interest and appear on lists all around the world. That's what I mean by a big deal. It also seems that with this there is a lot more to it than that record alone - a good solid ride and theme underneath. So something for everyone then!

Really?? When you add all the staffing for Nemesis, Air, Ripsaw, Blade and N:ST (with its own little maze) I don't see how that is possible. Like you say though, however it is worked out it is understandable.

The 'Definitely 100% Totally Going to Happen' London Resort
pluk replied to Liam T's topic in UK Attractions
We (2 people) did 4 days / 3 nights full board for about (in fact I think it was quite a bit less than) £600 at Cheyenne, with £70 of Ferry crossing and about £70 of petrol. I would guess our one will be more expensive, because we'll have to pay for those relocated spiders our country usually sucks at everything like this. -
Nausea is not a problem I suffer with fortunately but Slammer is less nauseating for me as it has a consistent trajectory rather than lurching all over the place, for big fat me it is more comfortable than Rameses too. Slammer is more intimidating and scary though, because of -the height -the starkness of being flipped at that height with little to hold on to and minimal restraints -the feeling it is going to fall to pieces -the actually real possibility of it dying in an upside down position for a prolonged period. You should do it though, do everything once!

As you can buy 2,3,4,5 or 6 person family tickets it really does make no sense - families can easily comprise of pretty much any combination of children vs adults in those numbers. Which makes me think having all adult meals would be fine.
-
You telling me my wife and parents aren't my family? It will be surprise news when I break it to them.
-
I don't has children! Going with the olds.
-
I don't understand? 'Family' implies adult and children mixture (and 2 adult 2 children is the £saving example used), but it doesn't state anywhere that that is the case? I'm going with my family (4 adults) in a couple of weeks, but don't want to book in case 2 of us end up with kiddie meals. Also, 5 donuts per transaction? Just book it in 2s then! No one should be buying anything other than a 2 or 3 person ticket.

Thought they'd be hanging on to it until The Smiler actually happened. Sure it'll be back for scarefest though.

I can't quite get my head around people not thinking the world inversion record is a very big thing. It simply is, and it pushes the ride and part back onto the world stage in a huge way with something which will get noticed everywhere. That's not to say there's not surprises to come from it and I'm glad they are promoting it based on theme primarily, but going along the lines of 'worlds first self dueling coaster' is the sort of tortuous nonsense they come out with when the ride doesn't have anything real going for it. In this case it does.
-
It is a massive worlds first and word record, being a true genuine first and record (none of this 'steepest drop', 'first horror coaster' or 'ultimate / first psyco coaster' nonsense). It is secret too really - the record and inversion count have not been confirmed yet, it is only geek world sitting here comparing supports to plans who have worked it out, which we wouldn't have been able to do if it had been built over closed season as planned making it a secret until opening. And more importantly it is something which is clearly, concisely and easily marketable which people will understand and buy into needing to be a part of. The same can't be said of coaster that duels with itself or whatever, which wouldn't even be a worlds first anyway as it is just a sort of mobius loop without one of the stations.

No need to wait for Dorey, Nemo 3D is in cinemas now and for only one more week.

Tis mostly photobucket upgrading and moving the links as they do so. The authors will have to go through and edit their posts with the new links, I have with a couple of my old posts. Photobucket 'upgrade' sucks.

Well, by saying you pretty much asserted that your opinion was fact. Very definite for a mere opinion. I'm next to certain it is faster, as were all the 4 or 5 people I rode with at the Swarm meet and a few more I have spoken to since. I don't care what the motor sounds like. It feels amazing right now.

Good spot. But rather than confirming their return I'd say it is very clear tell that this was not part of any planned multi £m investment/upgrade (or however they've worded their positive spin), but a knee jerk reaction to a whole host of problems they've found last minute.

90s Anthems? Great choice of event for us oldies! Will have to wait until nearer the time to confirm as my poxy shift pattern is likely to change again between now and then, but I'm hopeful!
-
I don't know the current policy, but it certainly was the case a couple of years back that only the full price ticket could be used to buy bounce back. That may have changed but id be surprised, must be in the t+cs on the website somewhere?

Could be quite busy as the kids holidays end straight after this weekend and it looks like it'll be one of the first days of decent weather this season. Good tips here, and I'd suggest going straight to Colossus/Saw and working around the park clockwise from there, letting everyone else get The Swarm out of their system first thing.
-
Well now I want to rant about my spellchecker allowing me to make that mistake!
-
THERE IS NO NEED FOR THAT COMMER!!! What are you afraid of and what can't you do?! Pedant game is fun. (sorry! )

There's a clue there somewhere...
