Something I noticed the other day (might be old but meh) - as I walked past it, I noticed the free guns in the extremely long queue line, that used to be by the drop have gone? Mixed with the fact the yellow shower nor water cannons ever seem to be on, makes it a pretty dry ride now IMO. Equally, I will confess I don't mind Storm Surge, although I wouldn't queue for it. Equally, it's the only ride I can think of that makes me fear for my life, with the thought of slipping around in a dingy on a high, shallow troth. Yeah. Don't like the thought of that.

Theres a reason! Basically Han, the Flume at Alton Towers used to be called 'The Flume: Unplugged' when Imperial Leather sponsored it; and I was and I am still obsessed with the Flume because of the Duck in the tunnel. So back in the day I named myself Unplugged, because it used to make sense; and now, it just sounds really dirty since the Unplugged bit of the name has been dropped from the ride
-
Just because nobody knows; I am, Unplugged... Bet you didn't see that coming.

Had no idea we had a topic for this........... Oh well better late than never. Big thanks from both myself and Rich_T to everyone who was there; and thanks to Han30 for the invite to join. Bar Mer, it was first meets all round for us (I think) so was a pleasure. Had no idea Styles had partially vomited on Samurai; seemed to be a common theme that day (if anyone remembers the guy who spewed by the bucket load at the end earlier in the day?). But on the note, massive congrats to Han for conquering the 'mighty warrior' - it ran bloody well too on our arm! I think I'll make a fellow Samurai fan-girl out of her yet But yeah, was a nice chilled out day and was nice to be with a group for a change as I infrequently go to meets. Hope everyone has a great time at the Inferno ERT and we'll have to have a mini-meet again sometime. Oh, and sorry that photos so dark, unless its just me?

I can't see the link you've posted Pluk; however anyone's who's stopped in Crash Pad may well be aware that a significant gravelled space has been left between the park and the container building; where IMO another block could be added in the future... so I'd be curious as to why they'd bother setting it out like that if the Hotel plans are still in the pipeline?

As of yesterday all animations were working with no faults, just in case anybody wanted to moan still...

Nor does the vertical lift hill; they both have fin brakes instead; and given that evacuation stairs and present in the car park for lift one, and an evacuation platform is present on the vertical lift; it suggests that the ride will hold itself using the brakes instead...

Erm, I guess you mean worlds first as a Horror Coaster, and "That drop is great" and not its a worlds first because of the drop... It was originally listed as an Extreme Thrill, then it dropped off last year. It won't come back.

Guess I need to officially make a post to say I eat my hat. The Smiler it is. You'll officially no longer hear from me again because I've lost all hope in Merlin Entertainments as of now following the dual events of today.
-
If people GENUINELY think that naming a roller coaster with a dark back story, about human marmalisation and all the rest they've built up, the Smiler, I do fear for some people. There are a lot of people who are not posting in this topic who agree with me on this too. I can understand a ride element, a stage, a promotional image, pretty much anything other than the ride itself being called the Smiler; but seriously people wake up. It's something a ten year old calls a ride on Rollercoaster Tycoon, not a brand new ride like this. EDIT BACK: Personal attack? I think not, it's no worse than what crap he comes out with. Tit for tat Mark, tit for tat. Now lets all behave like adults and speak how we want. We're not kids, thanks.

This is just jokes, sorry. 1. You need to read the entire dictionary page instead of quoting half of it. And 2. The Smiler is just jokes. Probably going to be one of the biggest UK Park mistakes we ever see. Advertising on par with Oblivion, back story etc like Oblivion, ride name nothing like Oblivion's. Everyone clap slowly.

Stealth - means the form or characteristics of moving. ie Stealth moves fast like a cat would move Stealthily Smiler - means an emotion. ie This ride is meant to make you smile instead of scare you Bit of a difference... thus I stand by my, and pretty much I'd say 90% of the internet's opinion. Stupid name.
-
The Smiler. The only reason people would smile over that is to laugh, and anyone who thinks that it is a genuinely good name *looks above* is delusional. Just no Towers. Liam's hit the nail on the head. "Ahh, big scary Smiler!" no. It be like retheming SAW to be the Care Bears ride.
-
Some of that is news to me *reads above* ^ ^ ^ I told you we're going Disney again. *nags*
-
There's no separate queue for the front row on SAW, so lets not start encouraging that! And as far as I'm aware, SAW doesn't have it's cameras anymore. Picsolve had the facilities to have every car fitted with cameras, and for a fair while it did but the system doesn't work efficiently and now only select cars have cameras (and the rest have marks from where the cameras were) but non-operational on the video aspect.
-
And whilst I have high belief it is, I'd rather await the official information regarding this. Just personal desire
-
Personally, I'd rather wait for Towers themselves to confirm this before anything else (yes, even overlooking TS competition) simply because TTF (inclusive of newly reformed TS members) haven't had a great reputation for speaking the truth in my bitter and personal opinion.
-
Tommy is technically correct; there is a small cut in the track which leads to Loggers' tunnel, however the main route of the CCR track is to the left of SAW's airtime hill (between the airtime and the MCBR if you may) and the Loggers tunnel is to the right of the airtime and photo point if that makes sense...? It's just about visible on Google Maps.
-
Sorry to rain on your parade but there is that little thing called SAW in the middle of the CCR track and Loggers' tunnel
-
Its straight after the boat ride, outside Mrs Lovett's pie shop as the Dungeons posted on Facebook that Sweeney Todd would return in the new Dungeons...
-
I too have heard the CCR rumour as I said to a few people last night; I just took it with a pinch of salt until others had heard it too. I think it would be a great idea to bring it back; as kids or no kids, everybody needs a calmer ride after food or for a short break from the thrills and I think the park may have realised this; plus the fact the atmosphere isn't the same in Canada Creek without it.
-
Following on from what Pluk said, its designed to hit the centre two seats on both rows; thus you may not get squirted at; as you may be on the end seats. I too, have never known it to not work.
