  1. This interior wall plan (which I don't know where it came from?) shows a wall/structure in between the entrance/exit of the current "tunnel" structure meaning it can't be a standard immersive tunnel as they're one train. It's almost like you go in one way come out the other possibly in AGV's running alongside a curved screen on the wall. Flat screen at the end then run alongside the other curved screen.
  2. I don't know, you might be able to tell from Monk's Walk if it's got a tunnel or not even though you can't actually see anything legitimately
  3. Temple and Hollywood don't even necessarily need replacing, maybe just a huge overhaul. Nighthawk could be quite good with some effects, tunnels etc bit like Space Mountain. Hollywood just needs modernising. Or you could get rid of them both and have a huge show building for a mega monster dark ride. Either way it needs something, especially as they're both at the top of a dead end path so you could walk past them easily.
  4. A lot of the time on Swarm the effects aren't necessarily broken, just more turned off from a ride reset because in Swarms case it's better to have an open coaster than wait another 30 minutes for the engineers to reset the effects or something. Water skims have been unreliable so to say thanks to Picsolve and fire on the fire engine turn and water levels on the helicopter one. Swarm, Inferno etc are still good without effects. They're not a necessity. On a dark ride they'd be much more of a necessity so more effort would be put into maintaining them. Yes there'd still be days where they don't all work properly but it wouldn't last more than a day ideally. I've done Twister in Florida where the Twister element didn't work. The cow was just magically flying.
  5. They would be included if the dates you're looking at were Summer Nights. As it only runs on Fridays and Saturdays the days you're looking at going the Park would close at 6 to everyone.
  6. But Jadeaj2k15! Or Adalek, my new found couple. Or my legit couple. Weeeee. Sorry Jack, I think Celia might have finally ended Jadam
  7. Now in Market Square produced by Scruff Dog and photo stolen from their FB
  8. Well if we're going down the Derren Brown route for a bit. Svengali. One of his biggest shows, people remember it because it was so different. Look at his eyes, same colour. Svengali is also the show the automaton appeared in, is very Victorian and so forth. He is still a huge name and is well known by the public. A lot of his stuff focuses with the eyes, manipulating minds and stuff. He does a lot of social experiments which could be what this is, minds wanted. Okay, pulling of illusions in a ride might be a difficult task, but with clever effects any illusion can be created near enough. And he's such a show man, he's got a huge persona which is easily portrayed in live theatre or on a TV screen so there's nothing to say it can't work. Plus, the Derren Brown rumours have been circulating for a while and even for projects before this one so it's been thought of before. Plus I think it could be really cool if done well. It could easily have the dark element, a humour element and so on.
  9. Why is this not the official one? we're all in it, there's a random guy who can be an honorary member (or he's chasing Stretch) and Drenched is sending its one boat an hour! Some brilliant photos there though Stretchy Was a lovely weekend. Waterfall has lovely clean water, think my shoes are still squelching a bit Really enjoyed the S4C adverts on a water screen before the After Dark fireworks. Doctor Who was better than I was expecting and the pool was great. Had 3 chocolate fudge cakes over the weekend too so was well worth the drive.
  10. Right. Storm Surge was testing all morning. Not to do with comfort, was just broken. Tidal seems really unreliable this year and that continued today with it just having engineers around it. Yes it's bad that it's gotten so unreliable but it wasn't because of the rain. Loggers is still down for the same reasons as the prelonged closure last week, just keeps going up and down. X closed for cleaning I think. Rumba again just broken in the morning, not rain. Saw was up and down a bit and Stealth went down for a while. Other than Colossus which has one train out of use due to maintenance, all the others were full capacity (yes even X) when the park was pretty dead due to the weather. Samurai still in a thousand pieces.
  11. Big news. The offensive ride has a roof. 4 Such anti climatic construction. I mean we all knew they'd put a roof there :/ Very offensive here. That hose pipe could be supplying clean water to African children. Note the scaffolding access tower being built. We knew that'd happen. Yawn And they have started cementing around the pit and ready to cement the rebar for the other part of building part 2. I'm offended.

    Air

It's a lot of work for a new sponsorship. I mean both stations are being enclosed properly, having preshows and green screen photo things. That's a lot just for a pesky sponsorship.
  13. This project just screams urgh to me. Is there really enough demand for an Avatar area that's taking ages to actually create and is still over 2 years from completion. I mean they announced it in 2011 and only started construction last year. For a company with their own permitting council, they really do that their time with projects sometimes. The whole thing is costing around 500 million dollars and for what, a ride like Soarin', a boat ride through Pandora and some "floating" islands. So wish they'd gone for Beastly Kingdom, then the dragon on the logo would finally make sense! What with this, a relay of an old boat ride and slight extension of it to slap in Frozen, there really isn't that much exciting stuff happening in the parks. Fingers crossed for some good Hollywood Studios news (although it won't be complete till 2020 at this rate). Oh how could I forget the 3rd track for Mania and 3rd theatre for Soarin. Yay lots of great new stuff.
  14. We got to do it twice although it was only open from 1-5:30. First time was full ride and the speiling in Dutch so we got the general jist of it. Second time there were us 4 and 2 French so the guy did it in English meaning we understood the story a lot more and got the humour! The ride is good, works brilliantly as Part of the whole experience. Really varies though depending on where you sit, too far forward you miss the edge effects to far back you miss the front screen effect. But very good ride overall!
  15. Planning doesn't have to take long. If they get it in around now time (could be sitting with the council and just not registered into the system/computer yet) it'd be approved most likely before closed season and expecting it to be a fairly small, simple ride it could easily be done for March. It's not an awful size site, if you utilise the space of the path behind Toadies a bit too. Could easily fit in a medium scale flat ride. I feel like it won't be too kiddy or un-noteworthy if they're already advertising something new. The budget has nothing to do with them spending all their money on hotels etc, that's a separate budget assuming all the Merlin parks work the same way. Samurai, even if it's tamed down, would still have a 1.4 height restriction making it utterly pointless. Air Race please
  16. Thought this would be a nice topic to discuss this company that post loads of Facebook (and because it's hard to guarantee at first what they're working on). But for those that don't know, Scruffy Dog is a theming company based in Birmingham. Their first project that got us lot knowing of them was the Shark structure at Thorpe. Since then they've done a lot of work with Merlin working on the FN mazes, IAC, hotel interiors at Chessington, some stuff for the Woodland Village at Towers, new sets for Lego City and Heartlake City. Here's some of the Lego stuff in their paint workshop. MBV And Shark So they've done quite a lot of work for Merlin and a lot of good work. The centrepiece now in the Dome is done by them. They're definitely a company to watch. They also recently did this for a school library section. But what's more interesting is how they post stuff they're developing but can't say what it is or who for. Like this "Some exciting visuals being produced in the studio today for a leading attraction. Stay tuned!" Anyway, today they posted about what they're currently working on for Halloween. First guesses are it is for Chessington's Trick Or Treat Woods maze new for this year. All very exciting! But yes, this is definitely a company to watch (especially as they do so much for are parks already)
  17. Well at the moment RnR isn't have anywhere near a significant impact so using it is sensible. So few people are the main queues aren't that much inflated. Yesterday you could wait virtually for Saw at 1 hour or queue physically for an hour. In that hour we virtually waited we did Fish, got some ice cream, Rocky and could have done more but we didn't see the point in rushing. If it doesn't pick up much in popularity then it'll be great to use at FN for those that do! It will no doubt just remain on the 5 coasters, the mazes were a disaster no doubt.
  18. These tunnels and that bus simulator all have one thing that this doesn't. Curved walls on the flat, so the screens are curved around the edge, not above. You start putting a curved edge in that building and you've reduced space massively. Also, the section to the right of the arch building has a bit with no steel which would allow you into the "tunnel" (purely for reference) and that's part of the show building. Maybe a ride vehicle goes down the right side of the above picture, turns into this "tunnel" archway thing and something goes on in there but no as an immersive tunnel. More as part of an entire ride. The 30 million number has been floating around for ages, some trusty people have said that it is Merlin's largest single investment in a park. Yes, it's all rumours but that's the only big one going around. If you start saying 8 million or something then that's been plucked out of thin air too without official release. All rumours, just believe what you believe.
  19. Here's the leaked image of the layout. Name is odd, nice enough logo though. It's apparently going to be the world's tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster. Well woop, yeah that'll really sell when they have one of the tallest and fastest coasters ever. I'm so glad the Point is getting yet another coaster that's big, not like they could have had one of those nice Triotech dark rides like some of the other Cedar Fair parks are getting. Nah, Point definitely needed a coaster, not a dark ride.
  20. You do have to ask yourself why no park uses such a system though if it's that simple and could be that reliable. It'd surely be any parks dream to not have to constantly monitor and update queue times knowing a system can do it, so why isn't a system in use? The benefits can't be that large compared to the negatives of it.
  21. 4/10. -5 for using all 5 available lines, -1 for Disney mention.
  22. I think as RMCs go this could be one of the better. It's got characteristics of a proper woodie, the launch is basically a very fast lift Hill so you still get an awesome drop. Looks packed full of airtime, quick change of direction and a quadruple down is crazy awesome! None of those stupid looking inversions.
  23. Just wondering what about that building being built currently makes you think it'd be for pre shows? Preshows are in attraction building one which is the taller actually themed building (the IAC side of the site or the pit).
  24. Bobbejaanland has lots of rides, they're just all a bit meh. Efteling is alright. I wasn't a massive fan of the park, yes very good but not OMG AMAZING. Lots of great themed rides, but areas don't really exist. Pancake place was amazing! So nice, and the centrepiece is great too. Fairytale Forest is huge, no joke. Took us nearly 2 hours to see it all. Dark rides were good, Droomvlucht very good, Fate very good, Villa Volta eh didn't leave too much of an impression on me. The omnimover themed around the clown was cool. Tips, can't say really park was quiet the whole time we were there and because we had 2 full days we literally just wandered around doing stuff as we saw it.
