  1. There's going to be a HYPEVENGERS ASSEMBLE! right? Then HYPEVENGERS AGE OF UNOROGINAL after?? If so I'll buy the boxsets
  2. With a decent amount of theming (which Paultons are pretty good at although a bit bizarre in the case of Magma) and these 2 coasters will be brilliant! The suspended is a decent layout, throw in some foot choppers and it can be really good! The boomerang, at least it's a different layout and again could be quite nicely themed! Woop go Paultons!
  3. I'm definitely starting to think Air Grover when I see this. The track isn't that much of a V, the supports have 8 holes for bolts and the track-support connectors are square (you can also see the track to track connectors with two bolts on the inside like the blue track). I think it'll be of Air Grover's scale and for what it's going to be (well I'm hoping it's not SW8) it should be good as Air Grover is a nifty little coaster for kids! If it turns out to be a force 3 I'll cry, Shamu Express is horrendous. So rough. Not fun. Very meh.
  4. YAY TUNNEL HYPE If I still have this view in March I will be angry. It's actually just one of these painted black around the drop isn't it? Knew it. (lololol shipping container banter)
  5. If it's the 1st I'll be there, if it isn't I won't as I'm not making two trips to AI in a space of 2/3 weeks (wasn't sure what the Feb meet would be so me and a few others have planned a day at AI already, whoops). If you want to save some money even on Peaj's great group offer... http://adventureisland.co.uk/offers.html Open dated wristbands for any date this season only £16.20 at the moment.
  6. Well Zierer have the square plates connecting to the track and look similar (plus Merlin have used them before as seen above). See the square bit that will connect to the track. Zierer's also seem to have elongated tops to their lift hills causing long stairs at the top then a slight drop of as seen in the below photo. So yeah my guess is Zierer! But I'm more intrigued by what the ride will be! It's got a decent structure it would seem (not some metal base frame) so it could be a decent layout. I'm also guessing they can have this open by March, not too difficult to do, small coasters can spring up quite quick and it's probably further ahead than Smiler was at this point in 2013.
  7. So it's less than a month till February half term starts so some more closed season things are needed. Colossus needs repainting. I'm sorry but look at it sitting there all blue/green/yellow/whatever colour it is. It needs to be black to blend in with Saw! Inferno should get repainted invisible so no one has to look at it. Where as Storm Surge should be cloned, always thought one on Fungle's site would look good! Speaking of Fungle site... It's green, it'd fit in nicely! If not then this should go on Fungle's site! Thorpe need more water rides as well. So we know what's happening in 2016, 2015 seems to be moan about RnR which is quite fun so 2017 must be DUELLING TOPSPINS But seriously, Tidal Wave's fire effect, well we know the 2016 ride will have fire (it's a Merlin thing) so they'll route the gas line from Swarm to The Arena directly under Tidal Wave so yay fire effect!!!! Nick Varney got a new house this year The black paint has yet to arrive. But now for a serious note. The 2014 TPM awards saw the loss of a category, the cutest couple award. Now I'm sorry but why was this the case?? CONTROVERSY that's what. Everyone was just scared of the havoc me and J.S217 would cause when we got a clean sweep of votes. You just know that's how it would have been.
  8. Thing is though, the council say no to the new rides so Legoland just retheme areas and market them massively like Pirate Shores and stuff. They haven't had any new ride hardware since Atlanyis in 2011 yet they're still going strong because of the huge draw Lego has. Saying no to a new ride won't stop Legoland from growing their gate figure.
  9. The system isn't about reducing your queueing time. It's about getting you out of a physical queue. Let's look at it how it's supposed to work. The park opens at 9:30, everyone goes to the ride they want to go on. I get to Stealth's entrance and join RnR which is ride right now, brilliant! Walk on like it is first thing (apart from the 20 seconds it took me to click on Stealth and Let Me on Now). Now I move to my next ride. Nemesis Inferno, ride right now because everyone has gone to Swarm first. Ah brilliant!!! After my meh ride on Inferno I head to Colossus and see a 10 minute RnR wait as the park is filling up. Oh no!!! I join the 10 minute queue, let's have a sneaky go on Rocky Express. After my okay ride on Colossus I see Saw has a 30 minute RnR queue (everyone is still heading to Swarm and joining that RnR queue making them redundant to join another RnR queue and Saw is around 30 minutes normally at this point in the day I'm having so it's not affected anything). Join my 30 minute RnR queue for Saw and have a sneaky go on Samurai or Loggers as the park is still slowly filling up. No standby queues for the coasters so their RnR queues are respectively good. Okay, so I've had my horrid ride on Saw and feel like raving it up on X. Swarm has a 90 minute RnR queue (normal queue time at this time of day) so X has a 45 minute queue (it's usually 5 minutes at this point still so I've more than doubled it to keep you happy.) So in that 90 minutes of "waiting" for Swarm I'm going to ride X and heck Fish has a 30 minute queue so why not! Hurrah! Go ride Swarm after the 90 minutes and yay all coasters done! But I want to go on Stealth again, darn it 90 minute RnR queue... oh but wait I don't have to stand in it! Sign in, thank you. Now 90 minutes... hmm Rush is 60 minutes but as I'm also queueing for Stealth I'm basically getting on 2 rides in the 90 minutes instead of the usual one. YAY MORE RIDES!!!! After my ride on Stealth I'm hungry, heck let's eat lunch but also queue for a ride on RNR that way I can eat in an actually eatery and queue at the same time! ZOMG! No time wasted in food there, and I've had a cheeky go on Rumba Rapids. Now it's 2pm. I've been on all the coasters and a few fillers. Not bad for a busy day! So respective queue times (for a AVERAGE Saturday of about 10000 guests): coasters on RnR ranging between 80-100 minutes. Flats will be up to 60 minutes and so on. But the coaster queues often get up to those numbers anyway... 5 coasters all of 1000 throughput (on average). 10000 guests, not all tall enough, not all wanting to go on the coasters (yeah it happens). Yes people are dispersed elsewhere. No one is saying that won't happen. If you've got a 90 minute reservation for Swarm, you won't join a 2 hour queue for vortex (won't happen anyway) because you CAN'T. People will be having lunch, in the summer they can chill on the beach. RnR doesn't even remove everyone from the coaster queues, there will still be a 10 minuteish time with people on the coasters. Lets go with the "flat ride queues will double" (well they won't because they just won't). Normal peak day. Coasters: 70-90 minutes with flats usually around 40 minutes. Double the flat queue times for arguments sake to 80 minutes, RnR coaster queues at 100 minutes. I'm still in that 100 minutes riding a coaster and a flat ride which previously would have taken me around 120 minutes. Bit of time saved!!!!! When the system is working as it's meant to it will work. I have been there when it works. If Thorpe hadn't bottled it and given in by providing a standby queue then we'd have had a better understanding of the system (ignore FN that was a mess just go by the coaster trials as that's what they're pushing this year). People who use RnR love it, people who don't use it moan. That is the GENERAL consensus. I've seen people moan on one trial that the Inferno queue was 60 minutes standby or ride right now on RnR. Why not just get your phone out in that queue and go straight on! If you were in the standby queue then silly you, there were enough signs, people at the entrance even telling people before joining the queue. Give it time, let the problems be ironed out, it CAN work for the purpose of getting people out of the coaster queues and having time to chill, have lunch, whatever.
  10. Surely it's okay for Merlin to reuse successful individual unique IP's for rides in other countries? Yes you could say it shows a lack of creativity from Merlin and their creative team, but surely the same could have been said for Disney and Universal when they plonk duplicates of their rides at each of their parks? And they have much larger creative teams capable of much more! If the marketing of it was a huge success then why not reuse it, it's in Italy. Yes WE know it and for some reason it aggravates some of us (is it because Oblivion is iconic? But surely Tower Of Terror is as well and that's everywhere and no one minds) but the public which we always have to look at won't notice it and if they do it'll draw attention to Merlin in general which is a plus in their eyes. Could be worse though, we could have had two spinning coasters built in the same country in the same year. Or two water rides becoming Imperial Leather inspired. Plus, the layout is different so it's not all the same. Yes I'd love to see some more creative ideas come from Merlin (but when we do we end up moaning anyway because they are usually heavily cut back or something). Can we complain about every Legoland that Merlin own/build having a Project X and Wave Surfer next to each other (apart from Windsor) as that really is just plonking rides down for money. The story is different as well. It's much less psychological and more sci-fi/secret mission! Oh, and I really like the black hole/arrow orange logo thing!
  11. The dinosaur walk through needs serious work anyway. It's not great so to see them reviving it (well you'd assume that's where it's going) is great! A new coaster between the level of Stinger and Cobra is nice to keep luring in the slightly older generation with Critter Creek this year clearly aiming for the youngsters. This is how an IP should improve a park! Great to see Paultons continuing with creative ideas and strong investment for an independently ran park, this places future should be excellent!
  12. So today I realised that Poundworld also exists my horizons have broadened so much this week! Next thing you know there'll be 99p stores, ha I wish.
  13. Could quite easily agree with the first one but since Towers last June Mr Brightside became a tradition almost! Definitely improved the drive up there for me which I was starting to need quite a bit (thanks crawling traffic on the M6 at midnight)
  14. Will definitely be down for the bowling. Should be there for ice skating. Might have a plus 1. Woop.
  15. I'd never been into Poundland until today. Was quite an experience. Spent a pound but didn't get any land
  16. The bag drop thing is odd. You can take your bag on rides like Spiderman (all while Universal aren't letting you have ANYTHING in your pockets at the moment on Rip Ride Rokit and Hulk) so we can't even say that's a H&S culture thing (probably). Unless the ride vehicles aren't going to have a floor? Possible tilting forward cars with screens on the ground? Who knows
  17. Will they ever stop it becoming overcrowded? I mean they now restrict the entry of people into the event at peak times but it is still crowded inside. But in a way that's part of the atmosphere! People visit year after year for the buzz, hype etc! Last year 2013/14 event got 2.5 million people walk through, more than Thorpe can get in a season. As for new rides, yeah the odd new one may be nice for some people but it's not needed to draw the crowds in. Loads of people still haven't visited once, I took someone two weeks ago who had never been before so everything was new to them. Winter Wonderland is more about the atmosphere as a whole than bringing in new rides. If they make it so you can't just turn up on the day and stroll around then I'll be disappointed and that'll be a lot of their business gone! Many people who work in London walk through it on their way home with the colleagues and get a drink or something.
  18. Storm Surge would work better at Legoland Florida (especially as before the splash battle of Chima they had NO water rides at the park bar Wave Surfer). I think it was the only place they could place Jungle Coaster though (as a lot of the park is still protected official government land) and they wanted that more and fair enough. Thorpe was just unlucky to want a new ride and that to be available.
  19. They can't start any major work until the plans have been approved (going into committee again this Wednesday) so until then they can only do things that they're allowed to do under their general agreement of things with the Council like randomly removing some trees and concrete. It'll be interesting to see how they go about the construction with it being in quite a central location and a pain to get to. Good thing the service road isn't too far away and they can move materials over night from Fungle to Arena. Building will probably be done as soon as possible. Over at Islands of Adventure the building they're building is nearly complete and the ride isn't rumoured to open till 2016. Once the building is up they can be more mysterious and work on the inside so I'd say that'll be done before summer (it won't take that long to build, it's not exactly complex this building. Then they'll work on everything that we can't see (yes finally a project at Thorpe that can be a huge surprise on the inside!) Nothing says this will open in March next year, probably will but I think one of the planning documents says summer plus Merlin seem against beginning of season opening at the moment. Bring on the marketing this season though, can't wait to see what they do
  20. DIE RUMBA DIE Rumba -1 Rumba: (0) RESET! Colossus (5) Nemesis Inferno (5) Rush (5) Slammer (5) Stealth (5) The Swarm (5)
  21. It's a tough job killing any ride I see with just 1 next to it... DIE DETTY DIE! Detonator -1 Detonator: (0) RESET Colossus (5) Nemesis Inferno (5) Rumba Rapids (5) Rush (5) Slammer (5) Stealth (5) The Swarm (5)
  22. Well Thorpe, Chessington and Towers will be done with Legoland and Drayton more than likely along with Adventure Island and Paultons I'd love to hit up Lightwater Valley again and would do Flamingo Land whilst up there. Pleasurewood Hills is also on the list and that can just about be done in a very long day from where I live Abroad I'm looking at hitting up the Belgium parks plus Efteling and Phantasialand in a trip. Europa Park has to be on the cards as a possible long weekend away and maybe DLP in November/December. Should be a good year either way.
  23. DIE TIDAL WAVE DIE!!! Tidal Wave: -1 Tidal Wave (0) RESET! Colossus (5) Detonator (5) Nemesis Inferno (5) Rumba Rapids (5) Rush (5) Saw: The Ride (5) Slammer (5) Stealth (5) The Swarm (5)
  24. DIE X DIE!!!! X-1 X (0) Reset: Colossus (5) Detonator (5) Nemesis Inferno (5) Rumba Rapids (5) Rush (5) Saw: The Ride (5) Slammer (5) Stealth (5) The Swarm (5) Tidal Wave (5)
  25. Bringing this back to life. So the concept was good but the park didn't turn out brilliantly at first it would seem. Dynamic announced early in 2014 their SFX coaster, which everyone thought would be Gringotts. Wrong. At IAAPA in November Dynamic announce that their first SFX coaster would be going to Ferrari World. The videos of the concept layout they show look amazing with so much trick track, coaster section, it has everything from coaster to dark ride in one crazy awesome looking ride. But what will the one at Ferrari World be like? Something like this. With an opening for 2015 track has obviously begun being shipped. And well it's interesting. And massive. Odd. If the trick track sections are also this large then the hardware to move it will be well huge as well. All seems very odd. But still, awesome. Oh, and it's black. http://www.vhcoasters.com/?p=3817
