  1. The Drift Racers is matching closely too what some insiders have been saying about Mario Kart with 2 people per car (although it's rumoured to be 4 now) and a busbar system. The boom coaster would so brilliantly work for Donkey Kong too with the mine cart resembling jumps from one track to another. The two water ride ones are presumably Volcano Bay with the screen light usage on the mat slide being a great idea to use with TapuTapu. The really interesting one is the flight thing. It's blatantly Iron Man suits and a huge new dark ride for MSHI at Islands has been on the cards for a while. Looks interactive, very different and almost like a Kuka arm meets flying cinema! A drone patent was filed by them recently to for use in entertainment etc so possible new nightime show on the cards. With a 3rd park in the works for Orlando and Beijing starting construction, Creative are going flat out!
  2. Weymouth is closing it's ride section apparently.
  3. As Monks walk spoils the fun, two new rides are coming to Old Town next year. A rockin tug and jumping frog from Weymouth Sea Life. Still better than DBGT.... Guess as photographic proof you can look at this link. http://themeparkguide.biz/news/news-thorpe-park/canada-creek-redevelopment Once again plans having gone in yet. This is due to the multiple preagreements in the MTDP. With small stuff like this (which will count under the small rides which can't have a static height over 25m etc) and buildings, as long as they meet those requirements they're fine. Runnymede just need to be informed on what it'll look like and add it to the floorspace bank etc. The locals literally have no care about a small shop or jumping frog. The only iffy one was the billboard for Swarm. YAY NEW RIDES
  4. I didn't think that paint on either of those rides looked bad at all. And to go with the same colours just seems like throwing money away but hey, that's the weird wacky walibi way.

I really hope not. No IP please. Smiler was a marketing genius, such a strong brand created in house. Wooden coasters lend themselves to great in house ideas. The Merlin parks are all a mess with mish mash IPs all over the place. All I want is a well themed, good wooden coaster
  6. I think Japan is getting a unique attraction and Hollywood's will be a scaled down land, possibly just the E-ticket Mario Kart ride and some shops. It's now up in the air if in Florida it'll replace KidZone or go into the new 3rd park in development for 2020/21
  7. The first piece of official information has been released! Still not much detail, but multiple rides confirmed for the lands, restaurants shops etc. Plus a look in the video at what some of the set pieces might be like. http://blog.universalorlando.com/whats-new/nintendo-universal-parks/ This quote from the blog is being used a lot for its wording, basically pointing at the lack of screens this land will have! Apparently following recent guest surveys, Creative are relooking all projects in the works to try and reduce screen usage as it's being picked up on by the punters too now. So expect a fully immersive, set filled Nintendo land for all the family. Japan is going to be the first one to open possibly in 2019 now with more details on this first land coming soon.

    2017

If they're doing an AP event it'll be the weekend before they open. Either both days or just the Sunday depending when they do friends and family day.
  9. 5 day trip in April, 3 day trip last month for Halloween.
  10. Thorpe: Unsure, 20 ish probably Chessie: 3 Towers: 7 Lego: 2 Paultons: 1 Blackpool: 1 Europa: 8 Phantasialand: 1 Walibi Holland: 1 Plopsaland: 1 Walibi Belgium: 1 SeaWorld: 3 Busch Gardens: 1 Animal Kingdom: 1 Universal Studios: 4 Islands of Adventure: 4 Fun Spot: 1 I think that's it.

One reason I've read is because they have to move the fish for a while as the groundworks will cause vibrations that'll effect them. I have a pile of salt if anyone would like a pinch. It's well known that Flume could have stayed open this year but they decided to close it because of budgets and could then use SW8 as the excuse.
  12. The American geeks are split. Some are looking forward to having something other than Twister which is how I feel. Twister was just yawn with all its preshows of Bill Paxton and then a very unreliable effects show. When it worked it was good, but it got to a point where the Twister wouldn't form half the time and they'd already cut the shows down from 12 an hour to 6. It was just a nightmare in the end and lasted longer than any expected. For the synergy of the park it's a good step with the theming front and will bring life back to that corner. But it is also a huge in house marketing machine for both NBC and Comcast. Let's say as well this isn't meant to be major, only a D-ticket, will be easy to update if Fallon leaves. I'd keep hopes low for F&F. I liked Disaster, but its closure was same reasoning as Twister: expensive to run, losing popularity and unreliable. Plus it had a huge plot of land. Which they're wasting on a pretty much clone of the Hollywood Tram Tour film just a fleshed out single ride with some nice cars in the queue. Nothing like they did for Kong. And I think F&F is being deemed an E-Ticket level attraction. In more positive news: Volcano Bay update! Just look at how gorgeous this is going to look at night. They've now finally announced the water coaster, the TapuTapu band system for queueing and special effects and the fact it will be a queueless park. And this lovely shot of one of the lazy rivers presumably going through the volcano. http://blog.universalorlando.com/whats-new/volcano-bay-coaster-details/ It is a water park although they're pushing the theme park status, but it'll be a whole new category with everything else going on. So this will make up for Fallon and F&F until something like Pets or Nintendo happens. Or maybe Avengers or Dragon Challenge works or whatever is next!
  13. This concept art has been released today as part of ablog update for the ride! http://blog.universalorlando.com/whats-new/new-details-jimmy-fallon-ride/ It all sounds like good fun with lots of little extras in the NBC shop and the queue for the ride like the history of the show and being able to send a thank you note to someone. It'll actually absorb people unlike Twister, be reliable and looks a lot nicer than the old soundstage. Yeah it's more screens but this should be a laugh!
  14. The same happens every year yet people still go. Nothing will change in that sense.
  15. They might have some tickets on the night for Horror Nights, Saturday 15th was sold out online but it seemed like they were still selling tickets on the day so no harm asking about.
  16. They basically own Rust though, almost every house is a B&B. Silver Stars queue closes at 8pm but other than that I don't see issues. The park is open till midnight once a year, and the Vampire Club lead to loads of people walking through Rust at 2/3am so I don't quite know why they couldn't get 1am agreed even if it's just for the more peak nights of the event. And Roland wants to have the national rail line extended to Europa plus more hotels and a waterpark, I think there's a good relationship between the Macks, Rust and the whole of Germany it seems
  17. I wish this had been an immersive tunnel or had part of it as that. At least then you'd get a part of the attraction that actually feels like a real ride.
  18. This year it was decided we'd upgrade our trips in October and visit a foreign scare event. Europa was chosen having won the Scar award for the best international event the past 2 years. Tth But it wasn't just for their scare event, it was also for the entire park! There are pumpkins everywhere, it feels like a different park Pumpkin cake Halloween special parade Special musical for the season based on Ghost Castle. Rides had overlays from the Pumpkin Coaster (Eurosat), coffee cups completely done up, Pirates in Batavia had a Halloween overlay with the audio and speech, 2 daytime walkthroughs; Jack the Ripper and another one that uses part of the night maze Temple of the Undead. And with all the theming on park, music and everything it was just amazing. A proper Halloween do up. The park also looked stunning at night! A few more nice photos Horror Nights! 28 euros for 3 scare zones, 5 mazes, loads of roamers, 3 rides, a VR experience, special ice show, a travelling ghost train and a brilliant atmosphere!. You enter through a scare zone, Dead End street. This was the best of the 3 with plenty of actors, fire, mist, theming and an interesting way to enter the park. Once in you have 4 of the 5 mazes laid out in a square shape with a stage in the middle. The mazes were literally big white tents. But inside they were themed amazingly! Big Shoe was a clown based maze with a casino scene, outside alley, crazy spinning tunnel. You had no idea you were in a tent. There were a few good scares but from the event it was clear they don't go for the jumpy scares but more interactive side. As we don't speak German, we had no idea what was being said but even with that they were still great. The other mazes: 10 was new for the 10th anniversary of Horror Nights, apparently based on previous mazes you went through portals into each new section. One was a Chinese restaurant, apparently from a maze they had called Takeaway! The Cave: Unleashed was stunning in how you really felt in a tunnel. However, this one felt really really short but had some great costumes and a brilliant puppet, like the snake one in Cellar at Tulleys. Nightmare: This was our least favourite, felt short again but had no flow or any idea what was going on, and from the queue you saw the finale of the maze so clearly when people were exiting. Again great costumes and theming though. Temple of the Undead: Good length and tricks for actors to jump out, one really dark corridor with string which gets some people, good use of strobes and quite disorientating. So overall the mazes aren't very scary, but they are a spectacle for what look like white tents on the outside! This Ghost Train was also open and included in the ticket. 3 levels, really old school in feel with a few staff as actors and a female Jigsaw doll. Great fun and just added to the excellent value of the event! An unadvertised live show on the centre stage. The standard dancing from the Europa ents team, but also a music set from Leon Fuller, who works on the music for the event and the Horror Nights 10 song. Brilliant atmosphere. Horror on Ice VII, a raunchy ice show with fire, foam, everything you could want from 30 minutes! There was so much to do that we only just did it all in 2 nights. Projection mapping on Poseidon's station made it look like it was dripping in blood Night ridesss And the satellite was having a rave too! Coastiality: Adventure Atlantis had a VR Halloween overlay where you thought demons and zombies. It worked really well, you'd tap on the headset to shoot and spin your vehicle like normal to move around the VR world. It was really popular too! This is my eyes is more what VR should be used for! So with all of this, and an already 15 hour day we decided to hit the Vampire Club. Only 5 euros and you get to witness the Poseidon station overlaid as a club with the EP ents team dancing on podiums, Leon Fuller doing live sets and a decent drinks menu at decent price. It was so weird to be dancing on a board that is over some Mack track. Not the best photo, but it was really good! Crazy to think. Overall the whole park looked great in the day and the night event was a brilliant scare event for the vast mix of things you could do, all the roamers, theming, costume quality. Brilliant value and by far my favourite event I've been to so far. Only niggle is 7:30-11:30 is not enough, they could easily stay open till 1am and you need it with all the stuff. If you go, you need 2 nights! As usual, Europa did great
  19. Scarefest is just great! The park audio changing, the theming, just the overall fun vibe. Even little things like changing of some shop signs right down to all staff having a green name badge instead of the usual blue. The Ancestors are great, the flash mob is good fun and I just love the interaction they have with everyone, even when they go down to Gloomy Wood and just chat to people down there. Great fun! The kids line up seemed the same and popular so that's probably a good thing for them. Scarezones. I remember saying last year how Dark Appocalypse had more of a complete package than Thorpe's mazes. I'll stick to that I think. It has a story, effects and all just works. Simple but effective. Now Nox Infernus however was awful so I'm glad that's gone, and freak show is a fab replacement. Set pieces, loads of actors, brilliant music, lighting, and interactive actors. Great fun and so easy to do. Also think there were more actors at points in this than there were in some Thorpe mazes. The coasters looked great in some cases this year! Oblivion was lit with an orange glow (I'll put photos in a blog at another point) Rita was greeny, Galactica had the blue glow and portal, Smiler was cool with just the Marmaliser emitting light and Nemesis looked amazing! The mazes! So I didn't do House of Monsters but have heard rave reviews so there you go. I'll use them. IT'S GREAT. Done. Terror of the Towers: I've never done this so actually quite enjoyed it. I can see how people would find it stale after however many years its been, but it's good fun and really well themed throughout. Decent length and has some decent jumps for a conga maze. The strobe is pretty intense too. Solid maze in my eyes. Sub Species: After last year this had a lot to live up to. I was quite worried it wouldn't, but it did. It's the same assault on everything, being dragged about, pushed down different routes, grabbed, I got span around, just a complete mess with your senses. It didn't quite have the same wow factor because it wasn't new, but it was still stunning in every way. The only downside is the tunnel scene isn't as good now due to only one route so it's not a maze of tunnels. The one ending in my eyes is fine as I never witnessed the illusive second ending anyway. Mine Tours: I will spoiler tag some of this, but overall really well themed maze with some clever and different effects, and the same intense level of Sub Species actors in the grabbing pushing etc, just a shame about the ending!!!! Overall another great year for Scarefest and I look forward to it growing even more!
  20. Platform had a decent spiel up until you saw the train then it just was awful. You could see every actor and the path is far too wide. How it's a 5 scare rating I'll never know. You'd really have thought Thorpe knew how not to go so wrong again but no. Cabin is cabin. Literally nothing has changed and yes the tunnel still don't spin. Blair was just a walk with attacking trees. New scenes is a bold statement. Saw alive is always consistent, don't know why it gets so much hate cos it's always kinda good. Now big top. It now feels like every other Thorpe maze, there's no fun elements or actor interaction really, it's just walk around the maze. Yeah theming is better inside but the scares are samey. At least they could have worked upon big top from last year with the photo drop hatch scares etc but no. I know why people are lapping it up, same reason asylum was overrated, strobes. I'm glad it still has the same music outside though Containment is much much better. Not £10 worth but better and actually challenging! Some highlights should happen. I like the theming but it's still to far and few between but it's a start and stealth is pretty again.
  21. Peaj... Just in case he actually ever reads the forums.
  22. Give it a bit and people will be going "live on Facebook" for the entire events in future.
  23. You can buy single shot fastrack for the mazes, £6 each. It's hard to say if it'll sell out or not this weekend, the package might but there will probably still be singles left, especially as they can only be bought on the day.
