  1. At least they're actually getting something new though for once, which for a park like Blackpool (though big) has struggled in previous years it's actually good there getting something new. Whilst an Air Race wouldn't be the. It's unique for a country mile, it would give the park a decent family thrill flat even though something more unique and original would be proffered. Beats Merlins 2015 offerings so far, which are currently just glorified log cabins, a new show and some low key retheme.
  2. I'm 110% doing the Dungeons as I really enjoy them, not to mention once you've done Face it alone at Thorpe, it's almost a bit tame.
  3. It suddenly broke Edit- coaster dude beat me to it
  4. Currently able to attend most of the days listed so far so shall hopefully be attending this. Also happy and looking forward to secret Santa plus Nandos is a must
  5. Plus Liseberg also have two launches too, Helix (which is a Mack launch) and Kanoen (an intamin launcher).
  6. Get Thorpe a couple more dark rides, a GCI woodie and an extensive refurb to two of their existing water rides and the park is atleast twice as good. Hell, thrown in another B&M and/or Mack launch too. Screaming squirrel, no thanks I'm happy with Storm Surge tbh.
  7. I think loggers has closed at 5pm at Fright Nights at least during the last few years, may have been open in 2011 but then there was the railway there. As for Cabin, the reason why the tunnel doesn't work is because there was a power fault caused on the maze days before opening which is why it's broken (source thorpe park staff on behind the scenes tour).
  8. Yeah with most people working, school or waiting for Froght Nights, I expect Wednesday will be very quiet or even dead. Expect one train operations though.
  9. Now that would be unbearable ;)
  10. Went back to Fright Nights last night and was a mostly positive day Ride count Swarm 2x Inferno 2x Stealth 1x Saw 2x X x2 Colossus 1x Quantum x1 Rush x1 Detonator x1 Maze count Cabin 3x (one braving it alone) My Bloody Valentine 1x Saw Alive (finally) 1x Blair Witch 1x Studio 13 1x Total 20 Pros Face it alone was excellent (an experience I'd recommend to those brave enough) Inferno is running like bliss currently Studio 13 was running better today Swarm is great too More scare actors Thorpe still looks pretty at night Champagne Cons Samurai was dead all day (hopefully I didn't kill it Thursday) Rumba down all day Stealth broke down for an hour or so when we were on the platform There were 7 rides and 2 closed at one stage Lots of badly behaved and disrupted guests Overall, pretty good day, the previous one may have had the edge though
  11. Visited Thorpe again yesterday and finally managed to face it alone having not had the chance last year. For £15 to get around 15 minutes of a maze for yourself sounds pretty steep to start with, but it's actually pretty good for what you actually get. A champagne reception starts thing off (in a fairly classy way) which was a great way to start, plus decent champagne too (which isn't cheap). This followed by signing a form to give conscent to the all the horrors you would face in the maze. One great touch was the presence of the director as his assistant (if anyone has been to fright nights already you'll know who he is). We were each given a free poncho (to protect our clothing from what awaited us). Each maze group was called one at a time (MBV being first and Studio 13 following). I chose Cabin which was called third (don't think there any doing Saw that night). We then followed the director to the maze where a staff member was awaiting and soon let everyone in the maze one by one every few minutes. I was somewhere around the middle and was soon called forward to experience the horrors inside. Despite giving much detail of what happened building up, I won't be going to the Chase of what happened incase I spoil it for anyone who hasn't done it before or expose what it's all about, but will say it's definitely an experience I'd recommend to anyone who likes scares and mazes. If you're ok with Being manhandled, Pushed, gagged, yelled at, being ordered to something's, intimate/aggressive male and female actors and having no choice in what happens, this is the experience for you! If these above are issues for you, I will say (quoted from the director himself) go and have a laugh with mates at Chessington! Overall good scary, aggressive and slightly intimate experience, would recommend to those up for it and hope to do Studio13 soon.
  12. Wild mouse coasters are such cliches these days, so many parks have them and few get over 500 pph in throughput (Chessington's is 300 and Legos was 500). The following coasters would fit Thorpe IMO Thrill GCI woodie RMC hybrid B&M hyper, flyer Mack launch Family Something like juvelin Something like Fire Chaser express Mack junior coaster Zierer or intamin drop coaster Among others
  13. Here I go on my trip report from yesterday Maze count Studio 13 1 Cabin 2x My Bloody Valentine 1x Blair Witch 1x Saw Alice 0x (because the thug kept braking down) Ride count Inferno 2x (one night ride) Colossus 2x (one night ride) Rumba Rapids 2x (one at night) Samurai 1x (at night) Saw 1x (at night) X x1 Swarm x1 Storm Surge x1 (at night) Total 16 Didn't do as many as planned best considering I was only at the park 4-5 and 6-10 although I still got a fair few rides when I was there, plus some strange choices for night rides. Highlights Blair Witch is a lot better than last year, felt more of an experience and better pacing Studio 13 is a decent replacement to the asylum The park looks so pretty at night Colossus front row at night is beautiful and beautifully smooth Inferno is even better at night, Rumba is surprisingly good at night (underrated IMO) Samurai at night is actually good The park had a creepy atmosphere with the darkness and rain No queues most of the time The opening of the event with the director was a good touch Thorpe at night is just great in general Low lights Storm Surge existing (first and last time I do storm surge at dusk) Getting wet feet on storm surge Saw Alive breaking down Waiting longer on 1 train op Colosssus due to fastrackers for front seat (made a 5 min wait become a 10 minute wait) Not being he first public group on Studio 13 (we were at the front but there were 10 of us but they could only take 8 in a group) Asylum still has the edge so far Some if cabins features from last year were missing, flashing queue lights, spinning tunnel, moving doll etc. Lack of scare actors Naked grey tempory fences are bland and ugly No park wide theming Saw being rough again
  14. I can't wait til the 2015 happens as we will finally see a top spin installed, tidal wave's fireball returned and Colosus get a repaint. Who knows, we may even see a second Detty tower and vengeance appearing too. ;)
