Maniacs Brave The Bloody Valentine Tour - 19/10/13
Matt 236 replied to AJ 's topic in TPM 2013 Meets
It's a shame you won't be attending Josh as I still haven't met you in person yet and may not be for a while. Hope it goes well Lottie. That's a shame Alex, would've been great to see you again but hope everything goes well with your friends meet up. -
A Mack launch would suit the park perfectly as the park needs another 'large scale' coaster. As for the ride type itself, I hope the park go for a family thrill coaster I.e something that sets young thrillseekeers ready for the intense rides.

That water Porto ride sounds very interesting. I hope it turns out to be a brilliant ride for the park.

Yeah, tbh I expect to get Id'd all the time when buying alcohol and restricted material. However there was this time I was Id'd in a pub and showed an ID (validate card) and despite saying I was ages 18 and over was rejected from the drink as they said they weren't really allowed to accept them there and despite college mates saying that this I'd was valid and workable, it still got rejected= no beer and the fact I was rather p***** off.

Chessington has surely gone down hill this year. I'm hoping the reason why there are no zoo days this coming closed season (excluding Christmas & half term) are due to the park doing heavy major park work so they can improve the park, otherwise the park has made a poor decision and as whether it's busy or dead, the animals will still need to be fed.

For a custom made ride, that does look pretty good.I wouldn't mind a ride on something like that.

Yeah, Cabin was definitely the best followed by Asylum and My a Bloody Valentine, but the Blair Witch was rather disappointing though. The you're next actors weren't brilliant either. I didn't do Saw Alive so can't comment. However, the park did a pretty good job there though.

My review of Fright Nights 2013 which is the first time I've done the mazes WARNING, contains spoilers! 1/ Cabin in the woods, I found this maze very good. The actors dramatic and convincing efforts helped as did the jumps and the room tricks where you so engines chose your path in the maze. Several actors interested with me both in and outside the ride. The route to start was a little confusing it other than that it was good, 8/10. 2/ My a Bloody a Valentine, Very good again, excellent theming inside, convincing actors, scary moments and some interesting effects. Didn't seem quite as good as CITW but still a good maze, 7.5/10. 3/ Blair Witch Scare zone, TBH, quite a disappointment, it had its odd share of moments such as the ending with the shed, but as interesting as walking the old railway route (which went to the farm,it wasn't that great and more of distraction/alternative way to reach the other end of the park, 3/10. 4/ The Asylum Despite being the longest running maze at the park, I have never done this before until now. The maze was very interesting with its siren alarms throughout the maze as well the writing on the wall and the flashing lights really helped the setting. The actors would suddenly appear in front of you which with the light setting are less noticeable . The ending was also impressive being chased out of the maze by the chain saw person, 8.5/10. 5/ Youre a Next roaming actors Saw them around the caroulsel area, but they weren't too intimidating to be honest and didn't set the scene. 2/10. 6/ Saw Alive I didn't go in this attraction. Overall mix of opinions, some were good and some were bad, but as this was the pass preview night, they will hopefully resolve this soon.

I really like the sound of this new music soundtrack how it delivers a mysterious but also adventurous feel for the attraction. Hopefully with the amount of downtime of attraction, it will prove to be an excellent attraction for the park at Haloween.

Pleasure Beach, Blackpool
Matt 236 replied to Whiteknuckle's topic in Your Planned Trips and Reports
Yes, I'm completely certain there's going to be a Blackpool trip next year at some point. On another, does anyone know if the pleasure beach is installing any new rides next year. -
I shall be attending tomorrow for the preview and hope to meet up with everyone going. Also, the towers nerds are attending the preview as well.
-
This could prove really exciting for the park and with the location of the park, they have potential to achieve quite a lot of activities there.
-
Currently, the dates between the 14th-21st are best for me as I won't be at uni then. I can however at the moment possibly do all the listed dates except the 8th and 22nd.

83 is average expenditure I have after spending a day at a themepark.

3:30 sounds very early for Zufari to close, I was expecting its closure to be more like 4/5 tbh and as for jumbos not being able to operate sufficiently in the dark dazzles me. I don't know why skyway can't operate either.
-
I think Chessie should start closing again at 8pm for Halloween plus 1-2 hours of night riding at the best of times, still isn't really enough and I expect it will just be getting dark on the days of the 5pm closures. 8pm for chessie is the right closing time IMO because 7pm is too early with not enough night rides and 9pm is perhaps too late for their target audience. I hope they revert back to these in the future. In terms of ride availability, does anyone know which rides (if any) are shut at dusk in the park?
-
Vortex shouldn't go anywhere for some time, besides its still quite despite not being the best out there and it works at the park as a decent support flat ride to Rush, Detty and Samurai, plus it's pretty reliable too unlike some rides cough 'slammer'cough.
-
Sounds like it's going to be a very exciting trip for everyone, it's a real pity I'm at a wedding this weekend as I really wanted to come and will likely not be able to visit towers again until next year. Have a good time though.
-
All I can say is that's typical Merlin PR there. Still it's quite amusing and entertaining like previous ones such as no to Bo and Swarm freshers.

According to someone I know who worked at Chessington this year, train 3 is being stored in a different location from trains 1 & 2 (which I expect 2 goes on the transfer track and 1 waits in the station during open season). They've also confirmed that parts from train 3 have already been used on 1&2, assuming this is true, it could be quite a bit of work getting it back with the new parts it would need.

Nemesis isn't smooth but it certainly isn't rough and for a ride almost 20 years old, it still runs reasonably smooth. There are rougher rides out there (much rougher) cough 'SLC' cough and I'd like to see how smooth Smiler is when it's 20 years old . In terms of a technical fault with the ride, I can only see lift hill or braking problems being the cause unless they're doing some structural repairs which I doubt is happening.
-
I'd love to see Ramesis completely reworked for 2014, looking good as new and able to do some exciting ride programs and also improved reliability, not going to happen though.
-
In terms of the ride, 3 train op is complicated due to the following reasons, 1/ the excessive train braking when they arrive in the station 2/ lower quality staff operations 3/ guests who faff about or have no tendency to rush 4/ more complicated queuing with exit rider and fastrack In terms of Chessington not affording to run 3 trains astounds me, considering they're part of the biggest uk themepark chain as well as being in the top 10 (maybe top 5) most visited uk parks and the rides popular is still the same (if not more) than it has been since its modifications in 2002 and the park should run it on three trains as much as possible.

Probably, but this years one was cancelled just a few days before happening due to their work being behind schedule.
