  1. From facebook Theme park logic: Breaking news: Company behind Fantasy Island goes into administration The company which owns an amusement park in Skegness has gone into administration. Conduit Skegness Limited, and associated group trading companies, own Fantasy Island - which includes theme park rides, Europe’s largest permanent seven-day market and 340 static caravan pitches. The business will continue to operate as usual while the administrators review the company’s financial position, and no job losses are expected among permanent staff. The seasonal temporary expansion of the payroll during the summer holiday season will also continue as usual. Paul Clark and Ben Wiles, Managing Directors of Duff & Phelps, have been appointed as administrators. “Fantasy Island is an important leisure destination that attracts up to 40,000 visitors a day. As we head into one of the busiest months of the year it is very much business as usual and customers should be assured that this will not impact their experience, whether they are visiting the rides, market or one of the shows. "It’s also important for employees to know that their jobs will not be impacted during these busy summer months and we look forward to working with the team.” Home to jubilee Odyssey and Millennium coaster, hopefully the administrators can do good for the park as it seems a very popular one and one where if closed down would be quite back for skegness tbh What are your thoughts?

    FlowRider

I thought it was said it was an hour and a half? Plus bodyboards are usually 2 at a time so the queue is pretty minimal anyway (don't know if thorpe only does it 1 at a time though). I can see why it would put you off but it seems from what I have seen to be doing very well for its self, I'm sure if there was enough interest they would bring it back next year, Maybe if people say they want it to be in a smaller groups for more goes for next year thorpe might act on that, although is it a case of a separate company operating it at the park or has thorpe fully hired it so they can do what they want with grouping and pricing schemes?

    FlowRider

On the body boards 2 can go on at a time meaning that wait time is pretty much cut in half. Unless thorpe are only letting on 1 at a time for bodyboards I wouldn't know.

    Rush

Hopefully! Would be nice to see both swings both at full height at the same time again

    FlowRider

You are very misguided if you think the max on a flowrider was 3 people. I work on a Flowrider in my home town and I know EVERY flowrider on the planet has a max session capacity of 10, sometimes 12 on larger flowriders. It's not so that Thorpe can rake money of of people. From my experience I know that all even if fully booked can get a good 10+ goes on the thing which in the case of flowriders is good value considering some charge the same price as thorpe is offering for an hour or less, most people I have taught on their haven't really cared that they were with other random people, and all that I have had so far have enjoyed it. Thorpe bringing in one of those I feel is still a great Idea, seems very popular which doesn't surprise me and trust me you can get a good few go's put of it!

    Rush

I wonder If they will do maintenance on the 2nd swing not getting as high in the off season, I'd hope so
  7. Chessington Halloween Hocus Pocus has a new name and it is........ I hope I get a chance to experience Chessie's halloween event this year

    Oakwood

From Oakwood's facebook: While I think a summer music festival would be good, I feel they should spend more time in improving the line up of a park which has been criticised in the past for not offering enough rides to chose from.

    Oakwood

I feel your pain, when things happen like this, completely unacceptable from them. This is my home park but there is a reason why I have been to thorpe park 16 times in the last 2 years and Oakwood twice, Its a shame because I just feel my home theme park is on a self destruct mode at the moment! Most trip advisor reviews at the moment are 2 star or 1 star infact there are more 1 star reviews then 5 star reviews which is saying something, They need to start listening to families because its just getting stupid now tbh...

    The Smiler

I much prefer the marmaliser elements in the concept images, they just look more intimidating which I would prefer, I wish they did the near miss elements for the batwing like in the original planning applications!

    Oakwood

I don't know but it just seems like aspro are running Oakwood to the ground, along with the new fastrack system they have brought in to make more money.

    Oakwood

Oakwood are getting some really crap reviews on tripadvisor, it really doesn't surprise me tbh, quite alot of the time quite a few rides are closed, the food is overpriced and a bit meh and it does feel quite run down sometimes as well as people complaining of rude staff, it really does seems like oakwood is going downhill with families who think that it is bad value for money with not enough rides. I feel they need to step their game up because at this rate they will lose customers.
  14. Didn't Rush have a similar problem itself, or was that just a random piece of metal flying of it? Anyhow its the exact same ride as Skyhawk just Rush is smaller so you won't miss out on much tbh.
  15. Another reason that Europa is my number 1 park compared to merlin...
  16. I think the tree's will provide some of that near miss sort of thing seeming its being built in a wood, but I think it looks great, for a first big steel coaster its the perfect pulling machine for them, should be smoother and better then Baco as well!! Tbh this was never going to have themeing on par with the European wing riders but it looks like it is the best themed in the country as gate keeper has non neither does Wild eagle, and X-flight only has a very cheap looking control tower as a themeing piece. It seems to at least have as many near misses (if not more) as Flug Der Damonen though which I think is good personally. More videos ahoy! Flyaround: Train: Compilation shot video: Announcement Video: ( Quite like Banshee's in how the ride reveals its self!) Official Statement:
  17. So It's announced they are building a 60MPH LSM (using a flywheel generator) LAUNCHED WING RIDER!!! B&M Just wow!! "HOLIDAY WORLD ANNOUNCES THUNDERBIRD, THE NATION’S FIRST LAUNCHED WING COASTER SANTA CLAUS, IND— The nation’s first launched wing coaster will take flight over Holiday World in 2015. Named Thunderbird, Holiday World’s first major steel roller coaster will feature a zero-to-60 miles-per-hour launch in 3.5 seconds, followed by multiple inversions – including a 14-story Immelmann loop, Zero-g roll, barrel roll, and loop. Continuing Holiday World’s tradition of sending roller coasters through its thickly wooded and hilly terrain, Thunderbird will at first soar and loop high in the air and then hug the ground, surprising riders with rapid-fire “near misses” such as keyholes, themed elements, other rides, trees, and even the ground. “A wing coaster creates a feeling of incredible freedom – you ride beside the coaster track with nothing above or below you,” says Holiday World’s president, Matt Eckert. “Thunderbird is the first launched wing coaster in the nation – we can’t wait to ride it!” Eckert calls Thunderbird’s manufacturer, Bolliger & Mabillard, the “Cadillac of roller coasters, known for their safety, quality and reliability. We’ve dreamed of adding a B&M steel coaster for many years and are excited that Thunderbird will be B&M’s first launched coaster.” Thunderbird’s $22 million price tag is more than twice the amount of any other single-ride investment at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari in the park’s 68-year history. Thunderbird will be located in the park’s Thanksgiving section. Construction is already underway and may be viewed live on Holiday World’s ConstructionCam. Thunderbird will open next spring."
  18. Yep, it's listed as £49.99 on the website for on the day tickets.
  19. Typical Merlin... From Theme park logic on facebook: My thoughts... How on earth is Thorpe Park more expensive to get into then Alton Towers!!??
  20. Well we have done Winter Wonderland quite a few times for christmas so we do go to fairs... well just one and at christmas

    Colossus

Seems that Colossus is more of a marmite coaster then Saw

    Colossus

It must be smaller people like yourself rob , tbh I think Colossus is only good for people of average height like 5ft 9 for males, any think under that its very head bangy and for anyone over that its like being locked in a mini fridge I'm told by friends, I'm of said average height so I must be lucky with my rides on Colossus lol
  23. I always thought that was train 4 tbh, from what I have experienced but then even that wasn't that bad for me tbh.
