  1. Thanks for that though I gave them the dates when I spoke with them, I will ask regarding that.
  2. Most of the ride staff are young and this is a steep learning curve for them, I find it hard to imagine me having handled it.
  3. There was a clear shortage of staff at TP yesterday, yes the H & S was covered but some of the operators on Stealth were literally run off their feet, for the whole day doing more than one job. They had to deal with all sorts, people from all walks of life being generally stupid. The staff were professional and tactful, brilliant in fact, and it was extended hours.
  4. Okay, I've decided, it is Stealth. No ride is for everybody, and sure the length of the ride is short, especially if one has to queue for an hour, or in fact for any time. It is the most intense ride on the park, I believe, and gives the most extreme G. The launch, wow, the sudden change of direction, the bump over the top, the free fall, and the severity of the brake run, oh, and the half second view of London. The downside, rain and insects hurt on impact at those speeds. (one beastie actually burst on colliding with my hand yesterday, and it wasn't until I'd been able to clean up that I could see it hadn't broken my skin)
  5. Sadly, I now think that if the weight distribution was to the lower side as the dinghy was raised, it would continue raising on the higher side, causing those on board to fall into the conveyor. Terrible for those concerned, their family and friends and those around including the park staff. Sorry, going against my own rules, I have started giving an opinion which I am not qualified to do.
  6. Tragic incident at this park on their Thunder River Rapids, at Dreamworld, on Australia's Gold Coast. Apparently there are four adult fatalities. The ride appears a standard rapids type but the conveyor is an open ladder system. Very sad for all concerned.
  7. At the risk of someone on here taking umbrage at having to glimpse real life and getting this topic locked - this woman, obviously well suited to the tabloid press, alleges she was humiliated and forced to parade in front of hundreds of park guests, because she could not be safely fitted into a harness on Colossus, having walked past the test seat to join the queue.............. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3863156/They-know-not-B-cup-Mother-one-banned-Thorpe-Park-ride-Colossus-36L-BREASTS.html#newcomment
  8. As some of you may be aware, the purchase price of a Thorpe Park Annual Pass at the moment is only £51.50, which I think is a ridiculously low price if one can make use of it more than two times in a year. As my current pass doesn't expire until June next year, and suspecting the price may go higher again, I contacted the TP office to establish that If one pays online and picks it up at the park, it starts on the day of collection, if one has it delivered it starts on the day of purchase. I will be buying mine this weekend and it will start after mid-June next year. https://www.thorpepark.com/tickets-passes/annual-passes/#
  9. Well it seems that those that represent that part of our community did not set a very good example on Sunday, so that's the reason most people will only see that. I know some very nice people from all walks of life.
  10. Apparently, last Sunday was the worst day ever for trouble being caused by the traveller community who were at the park in large numbers. Several occurrences of queue hopping, pushing and it seems fisticuffs, due to this type behaving in their unsociable way. Glad I didn't go over until Monday.
  11. I like that, but in the dark, you wouldn't need to go backwards either.
  12. I'll keep my eyes on that then............I drink Scotch!
  13. That would be a shame for that to go, a great re-rideable experience.
  14. What a frightening thought, but one of the ride operators asked me yesterday "what if your favourite ride didn't exist, what would you ride?" Now, I had nightmares last night. I think this is the first time I've ever been asked and if a person has one particular favourite ride, and it did not exist, then logically the next would become that persons favourite. However, if your favourite does exist, and then it did not, it is an odd thought. Well for me anyway.

    Was he shell shocked then?
  16. Luckily for me, no prior dodgy call.
  17. Thanks for that Ian, it was on speed dial.
  18. I just tried to telephone a family member for the call to be answered "there is a a fault with this line. Telephone 118820 to be connected by an engineer."I googled the number and it is a scam with which some people have been conned out of anything up to £15 a time. WATCH IT!I then rang the original number again and got through.
  19. Well I know it's open at least half an hour before park opening, but I'm pretty sure it opens an hour before. Or, ring this number 01932 577123 and ask them.
  20. I met a chap at TP on Monday who told me that three years ago he endured "the walk of shame" (his words), by being unable to take a seat on Stealth due to being large. He went away and has shed five stones and is now going to start visiting TP and other parks more often as he is able to ride roller coasters. Proud of his achievement quite rightly, it must be quite distressing for those who cannot shift weight. Me? I'm a lucky so-and-so who has stayed the same weight since I was a yob, some years ago now. With respect to being the wrong size, it does annoy me that people with small children will queue and subject the ride hosts to being seen as "the ogre" due to declining access to that small child, when it is the accompanying adult who is at fault.
  21. Went for Monday, 10a.m. to 10p.m., Stealth (only on one train all day) was launched 285 times, and no failures. One hiccup needed a test run. I had a few rides.Nice to see some members on it too.
