  1. G-Force is a very different type of ride, most people find the upward climb very uncomfortable, no similarity at TP, unless the vertical on Saw compares for you. We are all very different, in our physique, and attitude to the rides, so I always suggest for a nice, smooth introduction to inversions, go on SWARM. Do not miss out on Flying Fish, it's good. Nemesis Inferno is very good as with the pendulum action, you feel the ride differently. Take your ear-rings out for Colossus. Enjoy your time there.
  2. Yup, differing experiences, and differing types of ride. Thank goodness for gravity.
  3. Okay, good luck, here are the conditions...... Let us know how you get on, and if you have some success then I'll go over daily.
  4. I doubt it, otherwise everybody would tap them for something and they always float the disclaimer about rides possibly being out of action, logical.
  5. I wouldn't expect anything as all parks, understandably, have the standard warning that "some rides may not be operational" - alas, I cannot get to the sunken garden because they have now fenced the area off.
  6. I've already signed up for therapy.
  7. I certainly felt the heat today going through after the blast, it was hot.
  8. I suspect not - went to TP today and the rumours/comments range from four days, to "back next season". Cable will probably be replaced but Intamin are having to make a new catch car, a one off, this is supposedly being done at the moment.
  9. Only really worrying if one breathes through your ears, or someone wants to lick your ears after?
  10. But don't you get a feeling of power when you stand up again, only to adjust your clothing - "oh, waiting for me? sorry!"
  11. Interesting, the statue of Sherlock is less than a hundred metres away, and the Sherlock Holmes museum is only 500 metres. Elementary really.
  12. We are all different, physically and mentally, though enthusiasts, who are the minority, generally have the most opinions, regardless of the subject we enthuse over. The majority of the attending people are experiencing these rides/events for the first time, and for most will thoroughly enjoy their experience. I am sure it will last as people still queue for the items we don't individually like.
  13. Lots of opinion on here as to why it's out of action, so shall we place bets? probably not, but don't be surprised if it's not the cable. I'll be glad when it's back, it's not a good time for this major item to be out of use.
  14. Experienced this today - one should be in the right mood before sampling. It is good enough to keep people out of other queues, which is handy.
  15. Rode it today and it was super smooth, maybe I can take up wearing earings..........no.
  16. Indeed, the catch car has been separated from the cable, that in itself is several tons in weight. engineers from Switzerland are involved, I.e. Intamin. This could take up to two weeks, but hopefully that's just a "worst case scenario"!
  17. Rode once today, and still cannot figure how someone put their leg out of the train. I noticed that staff are now wearing the climbing harnesses all the time, which must be torture in the current climate (or should that be climbate). (if it's been mentioned, sorry)
  18. The park today apparently was "at capacity", 15000, a large percentage being school children, sadly missing out on the chance of one more day of education. The park really was heaving with several ride queues being over one and a half hours. With the temperatures being the highest for the year, and I think for three years, thankfully the management started handing their staff water and supplied some large brollies for ride hosts out in the sun. I met a young couple who were spending their day at Thorpe Park whilst their friend was "packing" to then join them in returning to Cornwall, it was their first visit. At about 1215 they had had three rides and were sitting near to Slammer which they knew nothing about. Luckily it opened shortly after and they were on for the first ride, and judging by the chap's expletives, he enjoyed it.

    Slammer

Slammer is truly unique, but as I've said before I don't consider it "re-rideable", I.e. once a day does me if I have time. Today, I noticed it doing a test run, so went and chatted to the staff, not much information there, but I chose to wait; five minutes and it was ready, first on, and had a spin, nice.
  20. Wow what a strange day, for me. Almost got to the park and realized, this twit had left the pass on the window sill at home, so back to collect it as, luckily, I live quite close. Got back to the park and thought I'd try Stealth. It ran for a few runs, then halted. I took a break until it started up again and all seemed reasonable. I was aware of previous problems during high temperatures so it was no real surprise when things came to a halt, and it seemed terminal. In this heat those seats get really hot if not sat in, ouch.
  21. VIP tickets; met a lady I'd seen at TP a few times, and occasionally ridden alongside. I knew that she was a mum and the last time I saw her, she got a text from her husband and "he would pick up the kids" which meant she could stay at TP for a further few hours. Now I found out she has a VIP pass, how nice I thought. Now I have found out how much they cost, Wow! Not for me, but I can see how it can work for someone in her position; travels in, rides what she wants, then belts home and picks up the kids.
  22. Odd thing yesterday, a chap in the seat diagonally in front of me blacked out - I realized as we went vertical, but his co-rider didn't realize until the guy recovered on the brake hill; he was fine once we got off. The ride is not for everybody, no ride is, I've seen several nose bleeds, several bumped faces, but at least nobody gets off.
  23. Border Force at Heathrow will be taking loads on over the next few months. When getting a job in the Civil Service or Border Force don't expect to be carrying out the job you joined for, but it opens the door to permanent good employment. https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/index.cgi?SID=b3duZXI9NTA3MDAwMCZqb2JsaXN0X3ZpZXdfdmFjPTE1MDA1MTEmcGFnZWNsYXNzPUpvYnMmb3duZXJ0eXBlPWZhaXImdXNlcnNlYXJjaGNvbnRleHQ9MjIzOTI3NDQmc2VhcmNoX3NsaWNlX2N1cnJlbnQ9MSZwYWdlYWN0aW9uPXZpZXd2YWNieWpvYmxpc3QmY3NvdXJjZT1jc2ZzZWFyY2gmcmVxc2lnPTE0Njg1OTAyMzItODVlMWY1ZmMzN2QwN2Q2Y2VhYjBiZGNkY2M2ZmI1NTJiZWU1ODIzYw== Worth looking even if it's not your bag.
  24. Very well done, Congratulations, you'll just have to judge at what tempo to proceed at.
  25. It might well do, but this is the first that I've known it to give me enough time to walk to the area of the "Ghost Train" before the GP catch up, so for me better than ever before.
