Slammer is truly unique, but as I've said before I don't consider it "re-rideable", I.e. once a day does me if I have time. Today, I noticed it doing a test run, so went and chatted to the staff, not much information there, but I chose to wait; five minutes and it was ready, first on, and had a spin, nice.

Wow what a strange day, for me. Almost got to the park and realized, this twit had left the pass on the window sill at home, so back to collect it as, luckily, I live quite close. Got back to the park and thought I'd try Stealth. It ran for a few runs, then halted. I took a break until it started up again and all seemed reasonable. I was aware of previous problems during high temperatures so it was no real surprise when things came to a halt, and it seemed terminal. In this heat those seats get really hot if not sat in, ouch.

VIP tickets; met a lady I'd seen at TP a few times, and occasionally ridden alongside. I knew that she was a mum and the last time I saw her, she got a text from her husband and "he would pick up the kids" which meant she could stay at TP for a further few hours. Now I found out she has a VIP pass, how nice I thought. Now I have found out how much they cost, Wow! Not for me, but I can see how it can work for someone in her position; travels in, rides what she wants, then belts home and picks up the kids.

Odd thing yesterday, a chap in the seat diagonally in front of me blacked out - I realized as we went vertical, but his co-rider didn't realize until the guy recovered on the brake hill; he was fine once we got off. The ride is not for everybody, no ride is, I've seen several nose bleeds, several bumped faces, but at least nobody gets off.

Border Force at Heathrow will be taking loads on over the next few months. When getting a job in the Civil Service or Border Force don't expect to be carrying out the job you joined for, but it opens the door to permanent good employment. https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/csr/index.cgi?SID=b3duZXI9NTA3MDAwMCZqb2JsaXN0X3ZpZXdfdmFjPTE1MDA1MTEmcGFnZWNsYXNzPUpvYnMmb3duZXJ0eXBlPWZhaXImdXNlcnNlYXJjaGNvbnRleHQ9MjIzOTI3NDQmc2VhcmNoX3NsaWNlX2N1cnJlbnQ9MSZwYWdlYWN0aW9uPXZpZXd2YWNieWpvYmxpc3QmY3NvdXJjZT1jc2ZzZWFyY2gmcmVxc2lnPTE0Njg1OTAyMzItODVlMWY1ZmMzN2QwN2Q2Y2VhYjBiZGNkY2M2ZmI1NTJiZWU1ODIzYw== Worth looking even if it's not your bag.

Very well done, Congratulations, you'll just have to judge at what tempo to proceed at.
-
It might well do, but this is the first that I've known it to give me enough time to walk to the area of the "Ghost Train" before the GP catch up, so for me better than ever before.
-
Entrance yesterday was great in that the Annual Pass Holders gate opened before the main turnstiles allowing us to get to most of the rides before the GP; well I got to the one I was persuaded to try and it was closed - reverted to plan A.

I've just read about this evacuation; supposedly a woman stuck her leg out, how? I like Colossus but I always feel cramped and pinned in, that is some mean feat! or foot!

TPM Happy 10th Anniversary Stealth Meet 25th September 2016!
planenut replied to Celia Mae's topic in TPM 2016 Meets
Hmm, do I recall that originally £20 was the possible price of this, so that is a considerable increase towards a full price. For that I want a printed reflective vest for keeps! Happy Tenth!- 114 replies

I do understand your comment but surely one is not compelled to watch it are they?

I can't see a problem with you giving a score at least?

that's a shame, but keep in touch with the park in case it is found.
-
You said "we" lost the phone, who was carrying it? have you not been able to get help from the park?
-
That's a shame, but how many people had this phone?

I believe that the new leader appointed by the Conservatives will be seen as a stop gap, then a General Election, but this is a point in our Country's history where we start again, it's massive. As a Nation, regardless of how we individually voted, we are out, during our negotiated departure we will not be included. This is an opportunity to draw up a whole new set of rules and guidelines. If someone has an opinion, figure out how to make it heard, make an impact, make a future.

I still haven't revealed as to how I voted, but in the long run, it may not be "who is to blame", but could be "who should be thanked", but it is what we now have to deal with.

Planning for a Thorpe Park Trip in about two weeks
planenut replied to Mermalizer's topic in Your Planned Trips and Reports
Welcome to the forum Mermalizer, there is some sound advice on here already, so I'll not add too much more. Check on the TP official site for opening times as they do vary. It's odd how people still want to "lunch" at lunch-time, my kids grew up knowing that one eats and drinks in the queue, if one of the party wants the loo, then all go. If the weather is hot, make sure you keep drinking; also if the weather is to be hot, and you like the wet rides, then do them before 11a.m. as that will give you plenty of time to dry out in the next queue, 'cos that ought to be the longest one you want to join. Sus out where you can leave your bags for a while, rather than using/paying for lockers. Single rider queues will only be useful if you are on your own, but watch the queues as low numbers means it's quicker to join the main queue. 1.30p.m. the SWARM queue disappears totally for about 45 minutes. Linger for the last rides of the day, as some may be walkon from the previous ride. Most trip buses board at 4.p.m. so then the queues really drop. If someone wants to pass you in the queue to join their friends, then politely suggest that you don't mind, so long as all their friends now queue behind you. As already suggested, don't do SWARM first as that gets the biggest queue, people still "need" to ride the newest ride first. Enjoy your time, and chat to people in the queues, some of them are on their own, and on their first trip. Oh, and don't miss out on Slammer, and don't let them do the restraint too tight, once locked it cannot move, looser, then you can. -
Everybody's vote counts, and that is regardless of their age or cultural origins. I believe the outcome of this referendum, representing those who voted, will have to stand. Now is the time for those who have an opinion, to think about their future input and the way forward to prove how good this Nation is, and everybody has a part to play in that. This Nation, as most of them, is a total mix of nationalities and cultures, and has been for thousands of years, and that's what makes it work. If people don't feel confident in speaking out, then find a representative who can, I.e. vote.
-
Don't assume you know how others voted, the proof is in the outcome, not the forecast. If someone has an opinion then let them speak, if they speak well, then they should use that ability to make a difference in the future.

I don't do politics - but..... I don't understand politics, never really interested me, but went to work yesterday and when I left, I got off my soap box having been on it all day. The comments from around the world tell a lot.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politic...endum-36614643 note that the countries who have benefited from hand-outs are those most vehemently supporting the present structure of the EU. I think it, the EU, needs to take note of what the campaigns and the people of the UK have been saying. All political parties should have input to the negotiations of exit. There will be several years of unease and uncertainty, and I believe we should encourage the countries of the British Isles to pull together, we are a tight unit and without each other, would not be in the position where we can envisage successfully going it alone. Whether one agreed with the outcome of the vote matters not; we will be out and independent and that is fact. Many of the members of this club will now be more aware of politics and their opinion and/or lack of knowledge of politics than ever before. Now also, as most of you are quite young, you have a chance to make a difference to your future, and dare I say it, the future of the United Kingdom. Gone are the Imperialistic days, and with the attitudes of this union, we stand alone again, but able to move forward to be an example again, of tolerance, efficiency and success. Some of you could have a very active role in that and the future, think about it.
