  1. The thing is, thorpe's don't actually need to stop in the same position as they raised. It's just a waste of time. The floor is numbered not the pods and the floor so why do they need to lower in the same place. If its anything to do with taking shoes off that's ridiculous
  2. As much as you guys say its not good for thorpe to bring a new Topscan I think it's an excellent idea... Lets take samurai at lagoon Utah. It has been going for 13 years now and still runs amazing settings: If samurai at lagoon can run this well after 13 YEARS then I think a new Topscan At thorpe could be running for at least 13 years on a good settings...
  3. After buying a ticket for parking the last time I visited, it did not work at the barriers. The person monitoring the barriers came over and scanned her pass on the barriers for us. The pass she was using was a standard one so does this mean standard passes actually work but they just don't want you using them?
  4. It does look quite bare around the saw area to be honest. The trees were removed for a reason and that had to be done. I do have to say that samurai looks out of place as it does not fit in with the saw theme and it seems like its not in a land. I don't want a topscan going from thorpe altogether however if they could get a zierer starshape or something into the park then I would be ok!Any updates on how samurai is currently doing?
  5. This is the rule I think I heard about- surely if you can take some types of shoes off you can take others off? Because it ovbiously doesn't make a difference if you wear shoes or not with this rule- and if you can't, it sounds like an extremely stupid rule!
  6. When I visited a couple of weeks ago it was having issues with parking(as it always does) but this time it seemed a lot worse. We were riding and we spent about 5 mins trying to park and then the operator decided to try and re-park us by taking us back up to the top. We then spent another few minutes trying to park before we actually lowered. Most people were shouting to be let off but ovbiously no one seems to realise the issues samurai has...
  7. I don't wanna sound rude here, but I don't think you need to know why?Anyway, I've heard that nemesis inferno allows people to take their shoes off but that might just be my imagination, that is the only coaster I could see you being allowed to take them off anyway!
  8. Hey guys, I am visiting thorpe in 13 days and just have a question about which rides let you take off your shoes etc. I understand that the flat rides like samurai, vortex, rush and detonator allow shoes off but are there any other rides which allow you to do this? Many thanks
  9. Since when are we getting rid of samurai? Just to say, slammer is amazing and it beats vortex and samurai in my opinion anyway
  10. That's thorpe for you these days; last time I visited slammer broke, stealth broke, swarm broke, nemesis inferno broke, loggers leap broke, detonator broke and saw brokeMore to the point though, thorpes older rides are the real suckers for breaking, I think thorpe should really consider replacing a couple of the flats like vortex and samurai. They are run really poorly these days and they are forever breaking down. I can't see anything better to do than replace them! Let's just hope in two weeks time that all the rides are open for me
  11. When I visited on an off-peak day this year the sign said 4 pounds. Maybe they are considering raising the price on peak days?
  12. Nowa days samurai only opens for a couple of months before it breaks down and they have to close it for a while. Even with the rubbish settings samurai is on, I still enjoy it. I can't really see samurai staying at thorpe for much longer with the issues it has so as everyone says I think the only thing thorpe can and should do is to completely replace it with a newer model.
  13. I am visiting on the 19th may, does anyone know roughly how busy it will be? Will it be like a normal weekend of 45-60 minute queues for the big ones? Thanks...

Forgot that it was bank holiday

Well if the throughput is better... How come the queue time has tripled in length?

Now this is where I think something has gone wrong... Before they removed the breaks(with 4 cars) the queue was around 20 mins... Now with the breaks removed, the queue was 45/60 mins today. Surely they have removed some cars or something to see this massive rise in queue time!?
  17. What sorta queues for 'the big ones' we saying here?I don't have inset days at my school because we get extended holidays so I basically go on those extra days(usually empty) or I go on a weekend. I don't mind queueing 60 mins but I don't like queueing longer so Sundays are generally fine for me Thanks
  18. Hey guys, I am wondering how long the queues will be during a weekday in the half term holiday? I am trying to decide when my friend and I will go but we are quite confused when is best! Thanks
  19. Just wondering, is there any age limits on these nights as it is not stated on thes website?
  20. We were in the queue line and we saw the fire going off nearly every ride. We got it 2ce when we rode forwards aswell!
  21. Just read this jack It is in Austria and it is an annual fair- the rides vary each year but the fair has been improving over the last few years. It is located in villach town centre and is help from 28th July- 4th August this year!
  22. This topic actually helped me aswell- thanks guys I am planning to go to thorpe with my friend on a weekend soon, but firstly he doesn't like queueing over 20 mins(nothing we can do about that as I'm not paying a fortune for fastrack) and also he doesn't WANT to go on most of the rides even though I know he would love them. He has done nemesis inferno and vortex in terms of big rides and he says he would go on Colossus but its the others which are the issues. I think if I use your advice I can get him on them, especially as he likes 'backwards' rides. Maybe he would do swarm backwards and I could convince him to do it forwards. I think the height is the problem however but maybe if I convince him to ride stealth then he would go on everything else! Thanks for everyone's advice because it helped me aswell!
  23. This happened to me on detty- at the top the harness could move up and down a bit but on the way down it tightened a lot. I wasn't particularly bothered though as the ride is short but what I noticed is that when the restraints tighten on the way down on detonator the restraints have to be released using a special leaver at the back. I'm not sure if this is for a particular reason, does anyone know?
  24. Great trip report james P.S if u want a soaking on rameses, just ask the operator like I did! I asked and we got drenched
